Thanks for ur reaction video about Sri Lankan Airlines, Always it's our pleasure, Come to Sri Lanka and travel all over the country again,so I wish u all the best for building strength and confidence to succeed in ur future, Love from Sri Lanka ❤️❤️❤️
Nice flight review. I'm guessing with the current situation in Sri Lanka is why. you had what seemed like the lounge, airport and aircraft to yourself. Thanks for sharing from a fellow avgeek.
Thanks so much! The lounge really varied in occupancy levels oddly and the airport was really busy both times I passed through. The cabin on the return was quiet for sure but fully booked on the outbound, even up front so not all bad for the airline for sure. No doubt however current events will be weighing on the bookings.
Great feedback, thank you. I generally film these and post as another video. I have a playlist especially for it. Check out my A350 full power one of you have time!
Looks very decent. 1-2-1 config is my favorite too. This airline is making huge losses though and many cite it as one of the causes of the economic crisis there. How are they doing the fueling with all the fuel shortages? How full was the flight? hope they don't go under
Yeah was decent for sure. Ok on the furlong front when I travelled. The government had been reserving fuel supplies for them, that alongside the offer to fuel up at Indian airports was enough to keep operations smooth. Despite their financial challenges, you could tell they were trying really hard. They have a fleet renewal strategy via leasing still planned to refresh their fleet. Certainly for their price point, they’re really good value for money!
I’d be really surprised if so. That said, there’s a transit hotel within the terminal as others have posted from memory below. I can’t imagine it would be that expensive at all as Sri Lankan accommodation is generally really good value. Safe travels ✈️
Great trip report - although I'm curious about when you say they offer great value for money, did you mean just for their airfares to the middle east (i.e. Dubai)? Their Business class airfares from Europe to Sri Lanka are exorbitant - more expensive than Swiss/Edelweiss, LOT, and in this respect I would say in terms of the service/product ,Sri Lankan airlines doesn't offer good value for money.
Thanks so much! That will depend on the route, whenever comparing a home carrier to their home destination they’ll always be expensive as are offering a direct service. Typically, travellers can opt to fly with them from Europe through into south east Asia, at that moment in time they’ll then generally be really affordable. As mentioned though they will, like any airline will be looking to cash in on passengers travelling directly to their hub
I’d research the latest news and make a call. Even at the time of filming fuel reserves were having to be rationed to help the airline continue operations. I’d hate to make a call either way on behalf of someone else.
The herringbone style of seat became really popular around 10 years ago when 1-2-1 became the standard for long haul business. They work really well for passengers so more and more airlines went with them 👍
Sri Lanka is for sure facing into some tricky times. The airline however have done a fantastic job throughout the recent crisis, I’ve heard some amazing stats on how they’ve done just recently. Hope they can keep going strong ✈️
Im looking at flying back to Dubai from BKK with an 8 hour layover in Colombo. Is there a hotel or room I can get and/or will they let you stay in the lounge for 8 hours? cheers
Same flight as me by the sounds of things, there’s a airport airside hotel I think (I’d research to make sure) otherwise, I just spent the time no issues in the lounge. Enjoy!
