Doh! I just bought another podium hub for a deep dish wheel that I don't need buttons for... this would have been perfect! Pretty cool device. It would be really cool if there was one with a USB passthrough so you can plug in any USB wheel directly into hub -- kind of like the Podium Button Module Endurance.
I love the SRM wheel emulator. I have 3 of them so far. It's so much thinner than a Podium or universal hub, and considering the cost of the clubsport quick release on its own, it's a hell of a deal.
Awesome, now we wait for "the other way around" solution - Fanatec wheel (without cables) attached to third party DD. I would think its doable, its only a matter of transfering the inputs to some USB via bluetooth maybe?
As mentioned by @sidepocket1 SRM sell conversion kits for Fanatec to USB. You can also buy a teensy USB board and convert it if you’re tech savvy and want to save some cash. I’ve got a Fanatec BMW GT2 Teensy Converted in my Big Mige. Works a charm
This is a crazy powerful product. I just hope some wheel or button box manufacturers take full advantage of it. I’d love to buy a wireless CubeControl wheel that’s native to Fanatec. Or Asher or whoever. I don’t find any Fanatec wheels attractive anymore or even worthy of being on the $1500 DD2. It’ll still probably have flex but at least the construction of wheel will be great and look fantastic.
Hi, Just to make sure. If I want to use a deep dish wheel without any buttons, I can only use this emulator instead of the podium hub ? I only want to drift ! Thank's !
I have one of these and it’s brilliant. You mentioned you could attach a qr to the emulator and then leave it permanently on the base. I didn’t think of this, any recommendations of what to look for. Would save me buying more emulators.
Barry, a little off topic but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that your habit of tightening things down in an alternating or star pattern came from cinching down cylinder heads onto engine blocks. That's where my similar habit came from and it has stood me in could stead for a long time. Love your work, pardner.
Nice review looks promising but how do you access the tuning menu on the CSL elite 1.1 when fanalab doesn't support tuning menu changes? SRMs website states compatibility but I'd love to know what settings it applies
My only fear would be Fanatec making a driver / firmware update that bricks Simon's hub... Wonder if he has a license / permission to emulate the Formula Carbon. If so, then that's great.
as much as i want to order one of these, the shipping from uk will probably be more and take much longer to the us where as i can just order from fanatec which has a few warehouses stateside
Why would anyone buy this? It costs $233 with a QR while you can get a podium hub from Fanatec for $200 with the QR. Then add $30 for Fanatec's button clusters and for the same price you have a 6 button layout on any wheel of your choice directly from Fanatec. Am I missing something?
Hey, quite new to simracing. I have a fanatec wheel base, AND a custom wheel that would use a hub like this, but I can't get the buttons to work with USB. how did you connect yours to work with the wheel base and such? just new to all this stuff still
Does this adapter emulator bolt pattern fit regular car steering wheels? Fanatec doesnt sell perfectly circle wheels which is why i want to do this mod. All the wheels i can find have a flat bottom on them which sucks for drifting
Will this allow you to use those custom wheels on PS4 provided I’m using the PS4 compatible DD base and Xbox with the Xbox universal hub? I really really like R20
I bet Fanatec Hates this, lol. They force everyone to stick with the eco system and overpriced wheel bases and wheels. Their $1500 DD2 needs at least $400-$800 worth of accessories before you can even drive with it (not talking pedals) when there's is a $1300 Simucube 2 Pro that many would argue is better and you can slap on any wheel. To stay cheap any $30-$50 Ebay wheel would work perfectly fine whether it be GT style, Drift style, OMP Rally style, etc,) and be shredding. HUGE LOLZ. I guess unless you play on console and need buy a Podium DD2 the big question is, why in the hell are you driving on a console if your willing to pay serious cash for a DD overpriced DD Wheel
@@netlemming5571 I was being a tiny bit hyperbolic but your right its $1500 but you cant just slap on a 70mm wheel adapter, a cheap $50 ebay GT or Rim style wheel and start racing like a Simucube 2 at $1200 for the base unit (ON PC). Before this product The fanatec needed at minimum, an Xbox button box for $400 to attach a cheap Ebay wheel or whatever wheel you want (FOR PC AND XBOX PLAY)Thrustmaster
@@d3tach3d - I kinda thought that. You can now do that with their $200 podium hub (still need shifters and their button cluster). Their two CSL Elite steering wheels are $170 and $200. Not podium level but work well enough. You know it used to be that you can just attach any wheel to their wheelbase but that "feature" was disabled after a firmware update sometime back. And to be fair, one can't buy a steering wheel with all the feature for what Fanatec is selling. I could not find one that's priced remotely close.
@@AttilaTheHun333333 I said as in fanatic. Its the emphasis on 'fa' instead of 'na' in the word fanatec thats the problem. Thomas says it this way too.
