SRT Scenario 2: Typical Tree, Minimum Complexity System

Scenario 2 in the non-mechanical SRT playlist is the same, crotched, typical tree as scenario 1, however, by eliminating the pre-tied friction hitch, and accepting the need to tie the friction hitch at the climb site, JRB can use a simpler friction hitch and simplify the rigging. This constitutes a minimum complexity system with a retrievable canopy anchor, rigged for retrieval using the paracord preset (or throwball line). Note: After publication of the video, a minor error was found in a text caption. During rappel, the caption incorrectly says "rappel on the Garda friction hitch" and should have said "rappel on the Munter Friction Hitch". Related videos:

he might be doing a “priceless service” for hunters, but for the “climbing community” he’s decade(s) behind in knowledge and skill.

Hi John it's amazing to see how easy you climb with this system!/) I got a question; did you ever posted something about the saddles or harness? Its interesting for me to know if they are useful for only hunting or also any tree climbing too Thank you John 👍

I appreciate the videos. New York Saddle Hunters came out with Half Line SRT system recently that uses much of the same concepts. Just mechanical devices rather than rope hitches.

Those guys are great and I consider them friends, not competition. Climbers are being exposed to a number of ways to climb these days, which is good but what you're seeing from myself and NY Saddle are methods which include being tied in and on minimum to zero slack and having an unencumbered path to ground. Those attributes of a climbing system are crucial to our skeleton over the long haul. It only takes one kickout or slip or failure of a cheap component to make someone an accident statistic. Get your friends on a rope too! Cheers

Arborist foot locking usually uses both feet. Rope starts outside brought under by far foot and pushed down on top of other boot

Did so much hitch climbing SRT this season on 75 ft of 8 mm resc tech with 6 mm hitch cord. Shopping for a shorter thicker rope and cord combination, thinking this 11mm rope and 8 mm cord combination is what I would like but will keep it long at about 50 ft. Any recommendations would be welcome

Keep your eye on the ROPE page on my website. Soon, Ape Canyon Outfitters will have a new 10mm rope. Its really a great rope!

@@jrbtc thanks for the heads up. Yep 10 mm rope and 7 mm might be my choice. Wondering how the 5-2-3 will work, or actually wondering how any cord larger than 7mm will tie . ,it needs to be supple enough for the wraps, but “fuzzy “ enough to grab. ECW camo 11mm rope and 9mm cord is very affordable. Nice camo color combination. Was very satisfied with resc tech 8mmm rope and 6 mm sterling desert camo accessory cord, but per your suggestion that is skinny rope for SRT. Studying on teufelberger cords and sterling. There are quite a few choices. Rocknarbor does offer sterling 7 and 8mm. One cord I looked at has a “fuzzy” sheath. Rochnarbor has a plethora of climbing supplies! And actually had trouble using their search engine.

Great video. It references a video "Single rope rappel on the garda friction hitch" which I can't find. Help?

My apologies... Unfortunately the text was incorrect. Munter, not Garda. I have updated the video description and supplied the link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KuJNyWTHRvk.htmlsi=8KHB3oZESIvZG7Uz
