I completely agree that forced motion controls is what ruins a lot of Wii games, especially many early ones. It often feels like that the Motion cabalities of the console are nowhere near good enough for the movements some games want you to perform and you end up doing random motions and hope for the best. As for Junkie XL, that guy (yep, it´s just a single person) does some really solid music. He was the composer on a couple of big name Hollywood productions like Deadpool, Mad Max Fury Road, the Sonic Trilogy and the Godzilla / King Kong Crossover Movies. As for games, funny enough he was most often featured on Soundtracks for Car Racing games, though usually just one of the artists in the mix. Still a bit odd that they decided to let him do the entire Soundtrack for a game where at that point some music variety was expected.

Yes but despite that compared to other Wii games that force the Motion controls on you once you get to grips with Blur’s ones they actually feel a bit more consistent compared to other games. Takes quite awhile still tho.

i quite love the psp version of ssx on tour, it's basically just ssx 3 with a few more things so it's great for playing on the go. controls pretty well for lacking a second analog stick (and triggers) which makes it even better.

I love On Tour a lot, to this day I amazed of the Mario characters in the GC version due to how overprotective Nintendo can be Blur I never got because I knew while not horrible it was a mixed experience at best

Oh, and Junkie XL is a DJ from the Netherlands. EA had a deal with him and you'd find remixes of his in FIFA every now and then.

Would love to see you cover TransWorld Surf, it's kind of like if Kelly Slater met Thrasher for ps1 - very much a 'tech fantasy' title but grounded in the sport it represents. I felt like Kelly Slater was more just a skateboarding game on a wave in comparison.

I've grown fond to On Tour after playing it during my uni days but my first interaction with it sucked. It's not the greatest of games but it's decent enough. Will say, though, it's a bit funny that the PSP version is just SSX 3 with some additions. Also, the analog button wasn't just sitting there, you could do something akin to the manuals from skateboarding games.

I didn't know that ngl, I was so focused on my left hand switching between stick and pad for the first 3 games. Also, the snowboarding term for the manual type trick is "Buttering"

@@RedBerylFTW Yeah, that's what it's called apparently. Wouldn't say it was mandatory but it sure made slopestyle events far easier in both SSX 3 and On Tour.

dont know if you remember but i left a comment a bit back on the skate it video about wanting to jump back in my board and you asked for a update if i did. so little update i went to the abandoned parking lot to make sure i nobody would see me slam, and just rode around and it was a load of run and i didnt slam so i considered it a success

Blur would have been okay if you could have used a controller any controller made for the Wii not just the GameCube controller. But eventually if you play it long enough you Motion Controls feel somewhat consistent compared to other Games that use the Motion Controls on the Wii tho that’s not saying much. I finished the game with Ugly Mac and Kaori, and Allegra and 21 year old Skye Sims who actually looks kinda decent compared to the other Model’s Allegra’s model is okay to.

why tf do they always use the same maps from ssx3 too ?! one reason more to not check them out , i never got this , wow but to call junkie xl a group and ''shitty'' is a disgrace, that guy is a certified pro (never listened to the blur ost tho) edit: alright i just checked it out and your right, thats horrible, he obviously didnt care (ea probably payed shit) compare that to the fischerspooner - emerge (junkie xl remix) from ssx3 ... night n day

I thought I was gonna get huge into UFC in high school so I got the original Undisputed, but I didn't stick with it so I don't know how the games have gone first-hand. I do know that EA seems to be doing what EA does to their UFC titles, so whatever ones you discuss should be very interesting. Also, I just want to point out that you have changed the way I look at the quality of a game. It can be much more nuanced than I had ever considered until you've explained your views in some of your videos. You've made a genuine impact on me as a person, in a way I didn't know I needed to improve, and I cannot thank you enough for that. You're a maddeningly underrated channel and I wish you all the best in getting as successful as you want to be on this platform. I'm excited to be a tiny part of it

on tour sadly is a huge downgrade from 3 ... never understood that ugly graphics change and dumb monster slowmo and control change ( i just wish there was a way to play these maps in ssx3 with the graphic fidelity of 3)

When I was in 7th grade my best friend worked for a little over 2 years on a paper route in order to afford a PS2 on release date and even waited outside the store to be 1 of the 1st to receive 1. He came over that weekend amd the PS2 dud not turn off for a whole 36 hours in which we were playing it. He got SSX, STREET FIGHTER EX 3, Among the other strange release date games but the original SSX was played by us until we were delusional from sleep deprivation and I absolutely love this game to this day.

Hey dont diss my man Junkie XL, he's one of the best DJ/Producers of our generation. Yes, Blur soundtrack is trash, but his other work is great, i think he had some kind of deal with EA because he made music for a bunch of Need for Speed, FIFA and Burnout games, and some of his songs appeared in Mass Effect 3, The Sims 3 and Mirror's Edge

Alot of your "why couldn't it have gamecube controls also" honestly just reminds me of the people currently complaining that skate 4 wont have session controls because they are so similar. Just overall game balance is a big factor, if you have two control schemes and one is just objectively easier and more responsive to use, then trying to set times/scores that wouldnt be too hard to beat on motion controls yet also a challenge for normal controls just creates another set of issues. Even without getting into any multiplayer or splitscreen modes with different inputs directly competing, but just for a satisfying story mode even. Its also a matter of the amount of time they would have taken to design the entire new control scheme, adding even more dev time to just add whats already been done in other games wouldn't make business or financial sense. Anyway i hope the ufc game video is going back past the more modern games, I do remember the dreamcast game actually being pretty fun.

That doesn't make a lot of sense as a comparison. Skate 4 not having session controls makes sense because Skate already had a control scheme that worked perfectly fine. An SSX game not having controls that existed in previous SSX games is just an objective mistake. The balancing argument also doesn't work. Call of Duty Black Ops/MW3 on Wii had classic controller support as well as the default controls. I also mentioned that Mario Kart Wii, various Need for Speed games, and Goldeneye 007 also had gamecube controller support.

@@RedBerylFTW I mean in the way that for skate 4 the devs have already done the work to rework the control scheme to do something new and integrate the parkour system, yet has people complaining that they they didn't instead spend the time to just copy sessions controls and do what has been done, but actually make the game built around utilizing the new features. Also like I said because the 2 control schemes work entirely differently and make different things easier/harder it makes balancing harder, you also said how this game was already significantly easier and that in this case comes down to the motion controls just being objectively worse in use. Also to be fair while I do still think there are many similarities between the two arguments, I can see how a better comparison would be how the ride and shred games didn't have normal controller support either since they were built around and balanced for the gimmick of the specific entry to the series

@@charpool169 Conflating two completely different situations honestly. You can also repeat the argument about balancing, but the fact is that other games made the right choice by allowing the option. Adding Ride and Shred is also completely different. They were hired as a *very* small indie studio to produce a game with entirely new experimental hardware in less than one year. None of these situations are comparable to each other.

@@RedBerylFTW OK now it kinda seems like you thought I was arguing for it being the correct or better move to make. That is not what I was doing, u was just trying to come up with their reasoning and using the more recent example of a game where the devs have already done the work to rework the main control system and integrate a new system, with motion controls in ssx and the parkour system in skate 4, and actually trying to innovate and do new things to have people say but why don't you just do what's been done. How crappy the video game development system can be with crunch and deadlines and everything that goes along with it is unfortunately pretty well known at this point. Not every project is going to have the time and resources actually given to them to be able to do that extra balance work. Plus even in the examples you have given that had both options its not like the high level/pro players of the games were using the motion option because even when they work, they just aren't going to work better then what has become the standard. Even most modern motion capture controls still have their issue let alone the decade old+ wii controls.

@@charpool169 Sorry if I misunderstood something in there. I can see the perspective. The need to innovate is a good thing. A few games that come to mind that really used the motion controls well are No More Heroes, LoZ Twilight Princess and Punch Out. Swinging the wii remote was perfect for swinging a sword or throwing a punch. Pro CoD players on wii 💀🤣
