I was in H.S. when this came out and it's was just a bad movie. The only reason it was popular was because it the amazing cast and awesome theme song. The characters are all terrible and over priveledged brats.
The worst parts of the movie: 1. the ex-college students who still hang out at their old college dive and even sing along to the band- hey, you know what college kids don't want to see at their favorite hangout, guys? Graduates who refuse to move on. 2. The mousy doormat who refuses to stop clinging to her loser non-boyfriend who treats her like crap. 3. Emilio Estevez' creepy stalker bit, including the "how dare you not love me I'm obsessed with you" rant and the suggestion that she kind of regrets the loss of her stalker at the end. 4. Joey (?) "solves" his problems by.....leaving town. 5. No redemption for anyone, ever. They are still dipshits at the end of the film.
I agree with ALL of that. These characters go nowhere and learn nothing. Everyone is a dipshit at some point in their life but like, we gotta see some growth! Otherwise, what's the point of watching these characters! I'm so disappointed by this movie.
I think the arc they were looking for was that the group grew apart and they learned they will always love each other. It didn’t work very well bc it was only focused on at the very very end. This movie was kind of wack
What do you mean "otherwise"? He IS creepy. Regardless if he ended up with her or not; he stalks her constantly, doesn't pick up on any of her signals that say she's not interested, and just because she "seemed" to enjoy the kiss doesn't negate any of the creepy shit he pulled, not to mention the fact that he KNOWS that she's not interested because he clearly sees that she's with another man, and knows that she decided to go skiing instead of going to his party, and yet still kisses her even though he knows all of this, as if that's totally okay behaviour.
"Now some woman would find Kirby's approach romantic...I mean he told her right away at the party where he is soaking wet.."I'm obsessed, thank you very much"...Then the next scene they're back ar her apartment who she shares it with another girl...She said to him, you wouldn't like me I an lazy and terrible with money...She didn't sit him down and tell him nicely, that in no way is she interested...She actually left a door open for him to pursue her.
