For better! Your "Emilio's Theme" is one of my favorite pieces of music ever. It never fails to give me the chills, no matter how many times I hear it. Thank you for bringing all these wonderful songs to gamer's lives.
definetly game with very individual sounds that will play in your head days after - love the nostalgia it brings when you play the game again many years later :)
@@KatjaSavia Lots of Love to me and i am sure to many other youtubers as well.... is, listening to you, playing Quest for Glory and Gabriel Knight Soundtracks ;)
This is such an amazing piano cover. It's cool that you've been posting music for years as well. And I'm a huge fan of game music as well. Video game music was actually one of my big influences, a lot of my early stuff from 1988-2001 was based heavily on video game music.
Hmm... I'm pretty sure I heard the video game influence in your work. My passion for VG music is centered around older game music. There are many themes I love though I might not even actually played the game. So what is your favorite game music soundtrack? :)
@@KatjaSavia Same here, even back in 1988 I was influenced by stuff like Asteroids and Frogger as well as the Super Mario Bros songs (plus my first keyboard, one similar to a Casio VL-Tone sounded like old video game music). I think my favorite video game soundtracks are those for Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and the Donkey Kong Country series.
Well done, and thank you. The Gabriel Knight series definitely has one of my favorite soundtracks from anything. I'd love to hear you do renditions of the games' themes.
Nice! I've made couple other GK music videos. You can find them on my channel. Actually I'm practising for the next game music played video so surely there will be more. But no GK music this time. :)
Wow, great cover! Your performance is absolutely marvelous. It's a very beautiful theme (and an incredible game). I love the Gabriel Knight series, I think Jane Jensen was superb when she made this three games. The first one was such a hit back in those years. I think the same as you. I would like all the new videogames had personal tunes, they were great and they gave the games an unique atmosphere. But I think everything is more "general" nowadays, everything is made with less personal touch. We are living a very different era, we have some good things too, but I miss those old tunes.
OMG I love your name! If I'd create a new account my username would be LeChuck or Murray (the skull) :D There are unique things and tunes out there but we haven't realized they are there yet. We are constantly flooded with news about this and that. Also nowadays when everything is so "general" and easy on brains it is so hard to adapt and "consume" things that have a personal touch. You know it takes an effort
Hi Katja! Would you be interested in doing a cover for Bayou St. John? Robert Holmes really improved it a lot in the remake and would love to hear if you had any ideas for it as well.
Hey Tycoons of Tomorrow! I would love to. If my GK medley gets 500 thumbs up, I'll continue with cover Gabriel Knight viewers' favorites. By this, I make sure that there are enough active GK listeners out there and the effort I put in is not a waste ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7bgGUTe7KG0.html 😊
Just learning to play this by ear and by looking at the keys. For some reason I prefer by ear and then looking at the sheet music for any notes I didn't catch. But nice performance, nevertheless.
I don't think there is a right or a wrong way to practice this piece. I'm happy you enjoyed and hopefully you'll learn the piece quickly. Good luck John! :)) Btw more GK music coming this autumn
@@KatjaSavia How about Malia Gedde or Mosely's theme? I think RU-vid allows private viewing maybe I can show you my own renditions. I have a Casio PSX-1000 and it has weighted keys - makes it feel like a real piano.
i like this rendition but isn't there one note that's off right at the beginning of the phrase (and then repeated later)? I stand corrected - it's also in the original composition. a bit dissonant, but who am i to argue :)
Yeah, in piano music if something is repeated it means that it's not "a mistake". :DD It's an interesting detail in Robert Holmes' work. Thank you for the comment Robert! Make sure to check next week's video. GK medley coming up!! :O
Honestly, Gabriel Knight's soundtrack is already very suiting for a movie, and not like most other video game soundtracks at all. The difference is though, most movie/video game soundtracks of today are very generic and uninspired. This game's music is anything but.
"Which one do you prefer: game with movie like music or game with very individual sounds that will play in your head days after?" I don't think that's entirely fair. A lot of movies and new games have very distinguishable music. A lot of old games do not. But Gabriel Knight did have a great track. I was sad they never followed up with a fourth.
I totally see your point. For me music with certain instruments just don't get stuck in my head, even if it is the same tune. Midi vs. violin, I'd say midi wins.. weird. Well, I guess that depends who is listening. :D Oh I really want(ed) GK 4!!
Somehow chanced on this again. I keep hearing GK4 teased in interviews, so keep your fingers crossed. Not even going to torment myself wondering what it would be about. Already been down that path. :P
Hi! What keyboard are you using there? Thank you for your music! :D I listen to this one and grandma's theme every day. (while trying to learn on my keyboard, shifted one octave as my lower is not that low)
Katja, are you using the piano's pedal in any way in this song? I'm trying to play this and struggling to make it sound good. It may be the that I suck (probably), but maybe there's something more to it. Thank you! :)
There was this one site... damn, but it is still down. The site had all my favourites. I'm thinking about uploading sheet music for this one somewhere. I will let you know if I do.
You are wonderful! You probably already know this, but the 20th anniversary edition of Gabriel Knight will be coming out this year for PC and tablets. Same composer (now Jane Jensen's husband) will be doing the music. www.gabrielknight20th.com/
Im the same way to i really hope the voices arn,t crappy.Im a purist i dont like big changes like that.
