Congratulations for the eloquent & informative lecture. St. Gregorios Palamás' emerged from the conflict of Hesychasts (Ησυχαστών) within the orthodox church & monastic community of the XIV century. Perhaps St. Gregory P. was one of the most cultivated & active members of the clergy of those times, able to confront heresy. His exemplary deeds, to appease the religious crisis & debate about the Hesychasm, made him a major figure of the medieval city of Thessaloniki. Thus, the city's cathedral was named after St. Gregorios Palamás in order to honour him equally, as the city's patron & protector, St. Demetrios.

I would like to propose to all Orthodox visitors from Balkan countries, Eastern Europe and all compatriots of the diaspora from U.S.A, Canada,Australia,N. Zealand e.t.c,among others, while in Thessaloniki, not to forget to visit 5 orthodox byzantine churches of great interest: 1.St. Demetrius' Cathedral(his origins dated from V century), 2. The basilica of "Taxiàrhes"(VIII cen.), 3. St. George's roman Rotonda (III cent), 4. St. Sophia (VIII-IXcent) and 5. the cathedral of St. Gregorios Palamás, the residence of the Diocese of Thessaloniki.

I have watched a few presentations of Orthodoxy by Fr. Heers and I always learn something important about Orthodoxy and our relationship to God. Also, about distinctions in the way Catholics and Orthodox think about and practice Christianity and achieve union with God. Although it is there in Catholic theology, it is very much obscured. Orthodox Christianity makes this essential truth of Christianity much clearer.

Very beautiful and true, God bless you father. It is so important today to insist on the fact that salvation of our souls is only possible in Christ, and that the Church of Christ, His mystical Body, is the Orthodox Church. This is only a "prerequisite", indeed, but so many today just pass by it and never even open the very doors of the Mystery of the Church. I recommend strongly to read our holy father among the saints Justin Popović of Ćelije on this subject (though I am not sure it has been translated into English yet).

This lecture was extremely edifying. My only complaint is I wish people attending these lectures were a little more courteous and not bring young children along. The constant talking of the children in the background is a bit distracting.

If your church isn’t crying then it’s dying - glory to God there are Christians still having children in these dark days.

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14 I'm first to fail, but a Christian should strive not to complain. Father didn't forbid the kids and parents from there.

Was there a limit of 1 hour to upload to RU-vid? It felt slightly edited possibly. I wish could have heard some Q and A But outside this, this was very good words on Saint Gregory, and used his teachings from the triads well to connect to us and today

Fr., bless! What would be a good way to learn about the 8th and 9th Ecumenical Councils? I see they are on Orthodoxwiki, which says that not everyone considers them to be Ecumenical Councils. But that's not the best source.
