Thanks for the vid, brought back memories, some good some not so good, but that's life as they say, you can't please all the people all of the time. I was there and could write a book about it and the teachers and pupils therein.
I was there from 1956 aged 8. I left in 1965 and had a long and successful career qualifying as an Chartered Engineer with B Ae and then as an Airline Captain with BA. It was very challenging for me but St. Josephs's gave me a good education which carried me through. I was in 5R in 1964-1965. My nickname was Pierre. A friend in the class was called Michael Beaumont a border from Africa. I think his father worked for East African Railways. He talked about long haul travel which also inspired me to fly as did the Air Cadets. I miss the tuck shop with a real soda fountain close the the college !
I was there 1951-56, can't say it was a rewarding experience but I guess it toughened me up to face the real world - the Christian Brothers saw to that.
I would like to formally thank St Joseph's college for a first class academic education that thoroughly rid me of the Catholic faith. I do wish I could remember what was between the Brothers Residence and Newton Drive. Was it a passageway?
