Inflatable dinghy’s are crap. Good for a few years and then start to fall apart. Especially in sunny, hot climate’s. You always have to be careful... That’s why we got ourselves a rigid Whaly 270. Maybe not as pretty, but pretty cheap, no maintenance, no leaks, no glue.... Good for 8 HP engine. Four years in the Med and no sign off “fatigue”. Of course there are some downsides too. It’s might be a bit heavier (72 kg) and it’s rigid... one needs to take a few precautions with a few fenders. Not that the plastic damages the boat, but the noise..... No more inflatables for us.
Things will get better, we are currently in Martinique and after circling the island, we are now ready to proceed north to Guadeloupe - St martin and Cuba, things are better than the news say about check ins, are you planning to head north or west ? we might meet!
@@SailingBalachandra Guadeloupe doesn't follow the same rules as Martinique, France went to lockdown and let the islands decide for themselves border of Guadeloupe and st Martin are open at the moment and we been informed . Funny story is that I visited the tourist office in st Pierre to ask about checking in (for another boat ) and they said that is ok and mentioned no quarantine or anything else . Marine traffic seems to be allowed though thats very unclear ...I believe you are not European ?
Use a 2” wide truckers tie down ratchet strap instead of bungee cords on the dingy. They are cheap, very strong and can be used to secure almost anything.
Thanks for sharing. We hope to return to our boat L’Acadienne in January and wish to sail from Grenada to Martinique where we have a new mainsail waiting for pickup. It is good to see how to move about in this time of restrictions. Thanks Paul & Anne
I do not believe, all this hysteria about Covid. Governments just want to controll us more and more. And more and more we get pushed into a new form of MOBBING SLAVERIE. Play along and we may let you breath, if not we make your live unbearable difficult. Especially Sailors who are often weeks on end underway and usually not wealthy, must doe up all that cash for tests we all know, are absolutely useless, that goes for the masks as well. I decided that I will NOT even bother to get any stamps kr any permission. I will do so like all those NIGHT SHADOWS. Go on land, where are no cities, get food and water and move on quickly. Nobody tells me I cannot go here or there or have permission to enter or leave. If Governments disregard basic human rights, I dont feel obligated as well. Pretty soon it will be anyway that we need to survive and that means one must be able to resist and fightback the syste m.
