Lilly Pettit aw I used to be exactly like that! At first you only want to sing when your parents are out but trust me you should be able to sing with them in the house if you don’t want them to hear fully just do it quietly in your room that’s what I sometimes do , but sometimes I sing in front of them because I don’t know if you want to become a singer but I know I would like to and if you have to get used to performing infront of people , at first it was hard for me to do so , but I realised you sound a lot better when you are confident so just be confident in yourself! It’s hard but trust me it’s the best thing to do
Could y’all do a video on some exercises that will help strengthen your voice to sing with more power? I find myself being able to reach notes comfortably, but not with power or increased volume. Thanks guys!! Y’all are the best ❤️
I think she did a video on that...ik she has another one on hitting high notes but also she mentions using your abs to sing which I notice increases volume and power I believe she said that too
I just did a performance where I cracked on the last high note and I was devastated buuut what they are saying is so true! I wish I would have done the reps more and built the muscle but ultimately you live and you learn!! I’m gonna practice it and not give up on the song!

No idea if you even check comments on older songs, but I loved what you were saying about having to change things when practicing. I heard a great alteration to the saying "practice makes perfect" that I feel is applicable here. "Practice makes permanent, perfect (or as nearly perfect as humans can be) practice makes perfect". If you just keep practicing the same wrong thing over and over THAT is what is going to get recorded in muscle memory.
The body is so powerful in what you describe with teaching itself and being better the next time around. I'm in the middle of learning subharmonics right now, and from one day to another I went from having a hard time balancing it properly to being able to just pop into it cleanly and being able to adjust it without it sounding weird. Never underestimate your body's ability to learn! Also, love both of you goats
I’m absolutely thrilled I stumbled upon your channel! I’ve been singing since I was a little girl, but never had any formal training. I recently started singing with a very talented group at church. I’m so thankful for these helpful videos! Love your content, energy and the fact that you get right to the tutorial!
Tara & Nikki.....I'm sold! Y'all chemistry is amazing and very vibrant...I can't stop watching y'all! And on a very serious note thanks guys for sharing your knowledge with us in an edutaing way#standingovation
Thank you! This has helped me so much! I have a song I'm prepping for and honestly you saying to be realistic and to not go way out of your vocal range is what I needed to hear.
Hi Tara and Coach Nikki, You two are really hillarious together! :-)) Loved the video! I would like to see tutorials on how to fix two of my problems that I cannot seem to get rid of: 1. Using/loosing too much air and then don`t have enough for longer phrases although of breathing into my abs. 2. Putting two much pressure on my chest voice especially going higher and then feel like yelling and not singing.
Hey Tara hope you’re well and staying safe during this corona panic. Can’t wait to get back to the sing better in seconds videos. I’d dye the day you came up to me to sing lol
Hi Tara! I’ve been singing for about a year now and at first I didn’t have any trouble with singing for longer periods of time, but recently I’ve started to feel a lot of throat tension and I can’t even sing for more than 10 minutes without having to take at least a 2 hour break before attempting to sing again. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to get rid of throat tension and maybe share some tips and tricks on how to not use your throat as much while singing? :)
Great lesson , lest we not forget there are those times where cracking can be epic but it requires intenionality ( see Benny Mardones ..Into the Night ) and ability . Once again amazing lesson .
So fun, Tara! I think I said this before but the chemistry and dynamics between you and Nikki is awesome! I only have 1 friend like that. It's definitely not easy to find. 😂
You can definitely increase your vocal range by one or two more octaves but there are some limitations of course , depending on your already existing abilities
You could have done an April fools prank on us by answering the question of how to stop cracking/splatting with just saying loudly in unison "STOP TRYING TO HIT THAT NOTE!!" and then end the video with 10 minutes of a random laughing track. That would have been epic! lol!
do you have a video of how to sing from scratch ? i don't really know how to sing never really got music growing up but i love to sing and really want to learn xx
I'd love a lesson on how to make your mixed voice sound stronger. I feel like my mixed voice almost sounds like my head voice because i don't have enough power. Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong:D
I couldn't help but notice the sheer power in Nikki's voice. I figured that the sound was from a chest mix, but when I try to practice improving my chest voice, my voice sounds shrilled and unstable (usually from unstable vibrato compensation), and ultimately I feel like I'm shouting rather than practicing. How does one actually strengthen their chest voice without shouting or straining the voice? Can you please do a tutorial on strengthening chest voice Ms. Tara?
A lot of it has to do with voice type. For example, a Light Lyric Soprano will never have as much depth as a Full Lyric or a Dramatic Soprano. Don't try to mimic her if your voice is lighter because you'll just be forcing and that leads to more issues. A balanced mix is better than either extreme.
You both really enjoyed teaching and I love it. I will always watch this, if I'll have a problem with my singing. Thank you for sharing your Knowledge. I love Nikki HAHAHAH!
The problem with all this is that I have no idea what my range is 😅I know my lowest comfy note is Eb3, that's usually the same, but my highest note has moved anywhere between G4 and E6 on different days, and I never know what it is until I try to go past it 😭
can you plz do a tutorial on head voice. how to strengthen, expand, do it correctly, and what it should sound like. i know i should feel it in my head but i don’t feel resonance at all (maybe a little in the back of my throat). whenever i try to use my head voice it sounds like i’m screaming so i don’t think i am doing it correctly.
Miss Tara! Pleeeaaaaase review "God is a woman" by dodie, orla gartland and julia nunes! I would love to hear you talk about their harmonies and dynamics!
Hi there Tara. How are you doing? Please can you do a video on how to strengthen falsetto voice? I am an aspiring singer and I cannot really afford vocal lessons at the moment and I want to do what I can at home to help keep my voice in shape. Many thanks. Sean.
Subscribed after watching your reaction to Disturbed’s version of Sound of Silence and just wanted to say I’m hooked because of how pretty you are 🙈 Even if I don’t learn anything I’ve enjoyed your videos 🤩
I related so hard to those vocal bubbles. I’ve been struggling to find a vocal teacher for so long, so most of my improvements as a vocal musician come from those bubbles. (I don’t know why I heard bubbles... you actually said vocal tourettes.)
+tarasimonstudio *Thanks for a clear explanation of one of the edge-of-the-envelope pitfalls.* For me, switching between head and whistle is where I most often run into cracking voice; I'm also inconsistent hitting notes above C♯5 at my fifty-plus years age (I was once able to hit F♯5 reliably in head, but vocal cords _are_ subject to wear and tear).
What do you do if most of a song i.e. 95% of the song is in your range and there are the odd one or two notes out of your range? Do you attempt it or not? How do you get around this? Thanks again for another great video!😊🥰
@@emmadax if you can't sing an octave below then you're just gonna have to sing other songs that fit your range until your range increases. If you don't mind me asking What is your range?
