To launch these cars: Traction control fully off 2nd gear Press the break as hard as you can and rev the engine to about 2.5k rpm Release break and press down on gas Shift at about 5.8-6k rpms (stock turbo dies, above that) I think you got a mid 11s car there if you do this.

It urks me to watch Supra owners slap it to auto and let it red line. I haven’t dyno’d my ots tune but shifting early hasn’t let me down vs another b58 yet

I had my first Santa pod drag race experience recently. Only had time for 2 runs in my 440i and managed 12.7, expected more in a 450bhp car - but guess launch control and more runs could have improved the time

My best time in my wagon 2+ was a 12.1@117, I was brake boosting to 1.5k in sport + and short shifting 1st gear at 4.5k. Worked a treat, dcc off was spinning to much

My 340i with same engine and gearbox, to launch sport plus setting and gearbox left in sport, left foot brake and accelerator down, easy to do but the engines do suffer from heat soak especially on a hot day, according to sport dials power can be down 50-60bhp so it's not your imagination

Slight tractable disadvantage in losing mass before running against unchanged awd + assisted platform...more is learnt from losing + data against a constant reduces uncertainty. Way easier than thermodynamics of heatsoak..no free lunches there..lol

B58 cooling system will get hot with repeated runs. That's one of the main benefits of the S55 in the F80/F82. Wonder how the S58 copes. Should be even better.
