After the failure of the last camshaft it was time to go for a bigger more aggressive camshaft, it has transformed the engine, now it revs like a 16v engine. The mechanical lifter/tappets keep valve control where the hydraulics couldnt.
Your turn around time on parts is u real.. your bank balance is endless but it’s so nice to see sum one do it properly & with the right upgrades parts .. 👍
Cork gaskets are less likely to leak if they are greased. The grease absorbs into the cork and swells the gaskets and prevents the oil seaping through it.
I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing this bad boy running again! Honestly your channel makes me want to get stuck right in. I have a vxr in the garage that's gonna be sorned til around the end of the year and I'm seriously tempted to buy the bits and forge it myself. Despite not having any spare time lol.
For the sump gasket I'd recommend Permatex aviation gasket sealer it's what the VW air-cooled dudes in America use when they build those flat 4 engines and mate the 2 Half's of the crankcases together
why did you run the car at 3000rpm at start up? i'm looking at a newman cam for my fiesta rs turbo and it says on the newman cam website to not run it at 3000rpm newman cam website = Start the engine as you would in normal use. There is no need to run the engine at 3000 RPM for 20 minutes. Just treat the engine as if it was new for the 100 miles then off you go.

this is the only camshaft to run on a cvh, kent/piper both proven to fail time after time. i know i dont need tell you this but alot of cvh suffer with low oil pressure which in turn destroys the cam, so defo worth keeping an eye on that going forward. i was speaking to you via instagram the other day such a fiddly cam to set up but once done its really worth it
Never forget, my friend had an e reg plain CVH, we were driving along and the tappets just inflated 😂 It was like a flood seize, oil pump over pressurised and inflated them.
Another great instalment. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into your vids. My head gasket went, repaired it myself but I wished I'd had half your knowledge on cvh engines then I could of done a far better job of it.
I tried fitting these mechanical lifters and failed. Don’t know how to adjust them. Inlet should be 0,008 and exhaust 0,01. Don’t know where to don’t feeler gauge this small . Normal in feeler gauge the smallest is 0,05mm So had to fit my hydraulic again.
I'm learning loads from your clips. I just bought my second rs and I wont to do most of the work myself this time. I had problems with leaking through the rocket cover bolts. I see your are different with different washers and look loads better. I was wondering where you got yours from? Thanks

Please can you do a video on how to install a FMIC on the zafira gsi I have a intercooler kit had it since last november and cant find any videos on how to fit it. You swid on a previous video about possibly doing an intercooler tutuorial on your gsi
@@AaronUnknownPerformance ah sound ive literally built all my intercooler up to try an figure out how it goes on but the pictures the came with the intercooler in the manual dont match what contents are in the box. Also I dunno where boost sensor is because that has to screw into the stainless steel pipe. I'm off at the weekend so gonna have a look then its all sat on the sofa at the moment so missus isnt very pleased but it is what it is lol
Looking very good, Can you not find a set of roller rockers for this, I had them fitted on my cvh 28 years ago, and it made the car reved nicer, I do have a larger torque developments plenum / manifold for the cvh xr3i , rs1600 if you know anyone that would interested, Dave

@@AaronUnknownPerformance Your car's look very good, I have not had a cvh for about 24years, I had a xr2 MK2 , in the end it had a hybrid turbo from the rs turbo, a Piper cam , l went to pace and had them make me a charge cooler , I also had a LSD from the rs turbo , we fitted it in the xr2 gear box, Dave
