Staircase Reveal after 75 Years Ep9 

Wheeling has/had some of the most beautiful and historic homes around.

The 1940s 2x4 actually measure 2x4 inches…makes me smile. Even a duplex conversion had pretty high quality.

It’s always wonderful seeing the care that people give to a home that helps it breath again

It makes me so happy to see that house being put back to the way it used to be.

My son lived in an old Victorian that had been carved into 4 one bed units. I’d have given my eye teeth to win the lottery and restore that building to its original grandeur. The stained glass in all but a few windows was just phenomenal.

I also live in a historical home,it was built in the year 1900. My staircase has a whole closet covered by a wall and kitchen counter, I also am currently uncovering it. I planned to post the video today, if anyone’s interested in checking that out it is going to be available… I suspect that it is not the original staircase, but that the house was rearranged and that an addition was put on at some point. Because the basement stairs have a very slanted ceiling like they used to be a staircase…🤔 I wonder if the city would have the original blueprints?… I just can’t help but wonder, why would one cover an entire closet? Especially right off of the kitchen, near the entryway. It is quite obviously a coat closet/pantry. And considering the attic has been converted into bedrooms, that storage space is much needed. It’s funny how things can get changed in old houses that, seemingly make no sense at all, haha. I cannot wait to uncover what lies beneath my steps, because that closet is Full. They didn’t even bother to clean it out, lol. And after that, I will be uncovering the original floors. Very exciting, my goodness! I can’t wait to see what condition they’re in and what it will take to refinish them! As of now I can see they are painted, unfortunately… Or maybe, fortunately who knows it’s like Christmas! 😂 Most of the time, I absolutely adore living in an old house! Especially, when I find new/old things and I’m like wow that’s so Amazing! Like, when we first looked at the place, and found that the old cistern room still exists in the basement! It has a hole knocked through one of the walls, and it looks like a dungeon😅 lol I absolutely love it! I have plans on, eventually turning it into a sewing room, potentially. Other times, I dislike living in an old house… especially when I find not so nice, new/old things. For example, the clay pipes that are being attacked by tree roots😰 it’s gonna be an expensive fix. I just hope we don’t have to dig up the entire yard😓… but I wouldn’t change it. I love my old historic, home and being able to personalize it! Being able to raise my family here, and put our own stamp into the history of this beautiful home is what makes it worth it.❤ I hope whatever we end up doing to this house, honors it in the grand scheme of life, because I love this place. From the moment I set foot in this house, I knew it would be mine. 🥰

Very thorough.

This is a really interesting project! Just a suggestion in order for you to be able to grow your channel and get more viewers, take some time to edit your shots together in sequence, putting one camera angle of the same event after the another of the same event, even switching between the two. Throwing clips of the same moment from different camera angles one after the other loses the audience's interest. So, try choosing one camera angle first, then you can flip to the next sequential moment using a different angle and then back to the next sequential moment using the first angle, if you like. This will give the viewer a more integrated perspective of what's happening. Unnecessary repetition of the same event, or similar events such as in an earlier video when everybody was getting into their coveralls and raising their arms and walking through the doorway, will unfortunately cause people to lose interest. Please understand, I am not criticizing to make you feel as if you're not doing something right, I am just trying to offer some constructive insights from a film maker's perspective that might help enhance your channel as you're embarking on this adventure! :)

I praise your project of restoring this home to its original form. It seems that you are being very careful in your efforts. I would like to offer a bit of advice. Please cover the wood floors while you are working in those areas that have them. I learned by experience how easy it is to damage them. Walking on debris can cause deep scratches that are difficult, if not impossible to repair. Good luck on your project.

Could the city have archives with original plans of the older houses?

Hubby and I live in France. Our barn dates to the 11th Century. My husband is renovating the insides. The old stone walls and ceiling now have all the charm of the inside of a shoe box. "We're preserving them behind the plaster," he offered. I am sick.
