Alanda's skill-set includes: great survival strategies, calling out bs, hilarious sassy one-liners, and saying the character's lines before/as they speak them. True talent 🤣
I’m seriously gonna start writing down all the times Alanda makes eerily accurate psychic predictions before she even knows the truth, I can think of like 3 off the top of my head 💀😂
I think one of my favourite things about this movie is the foreshadowing Deaths with Foreshadowing: In the opening, when Jeremy asks the five girls to dance with him, their responses foreshadow their fates. Shelley's response: "In your dreams, loser!" Killed while lying in a sleeping position in a body bag. Lily's response: "Ewww!" Received a box full of maggot-filled chocolates. Later used for archery kill, with her body falling into a dumpster. Paige's response: "I'd rather be boiled alive." Make that electrocuted in a hot tub. Kate's response: "Maybe later, Jeremy." She survives only because she showed kindness to Jeremy Dorothy set him up big time, claiming that Jeremy attacked her under the bleachers when they were caught making out by several school bullies. He gets his ass kicked and sent off to reform school as a result. Adam sets her up to take the fall for all of the murders, and gets away scot-free.
That's what make's the movie stands out due to it's unique and creative perspective in the slasher genre due to the works of director Jamie Blanks as it was just constructed perfectly.😍💯👍😎
I love this theory but I always wondered if Dorothy and Jeremy were colluding with eachother, why would Dorothy look genuinely surprised with receiving a threatening Valentine’s Day card? 🔪🏹🪓💔
Alanda constantly calling David Boreanaz Angel made me laugh. As an og Buffy fan I also always call him Angel. Also the comment about Arizona needing to find Callie took me out 😂
@@nilesstark 😂yeah I can picture this guy creeping into your room and drawing a really flattering charcoal picture of you while you sleep. Classic Angelus move.
I love how Kate feels remorse and empathy for Jeremy despite the fact that she knows he is the killer after Dorothy confesses that Jeremy never attacked her. It just shows she is a sweet and nice person.
@@irvinmaddox4192 Jeremy absolutely and positivity deserved his revenge in every way on the people that did him wrong in the past. If Jeremy told Shelly, Lily, Paige, and Dorothy how their actions ruined his life they would not be receptive or submit to his feeling's based on the charterization in the movie as they are still cruel and heartless which indicates that they did not take full responsibility for their actions and has no remorse or regret for how they all treated Jeremy years ago 🥺😭😞 which made their deaths so satisfying.😏😈
@@angelothehorrorfan5013 Through the whole entire movie Paige never show any ounce of sincerity and compassion for Jeremy. Even though she admitted that they're we're horrible to him but it wasn't really sincere or genuine and despite the fact that she knows he is the killer after Dorothy confesses that Jeremy never attacked her her reaction was very cruel and heartless and even though Dorothy confesses but it wasn't really remorseful or regretful as she view her justification accurate. In my opinion Dorothy should have view Jeremy's invitation to dance as a positive standpoint as at least someone had interest in her since she wasn't really popular like Shelly, Lily, Paige, and Kate and everything would have been cool if Dorothy was real and just told the truth that she was kissing Jeremy. For example-( Bully)- " You like it Buffalo getting hot?" ( Dorothy)- " Yeah I am it was great." Sure she would have been still teased but at least it won't end horribly but unfortunately due to her insecurities she did Jeremy dirty. She framed him for sexual assault, got him beat up by bullies, and got sent to reform school. Everytime when I watch the scene when Dorothy confesses that Jeremy never attacked her and her justification of why she did it really makes my skin crawl as it was just absolutely pitiful. This movie unfortunately wasn’t very well received initially, but over the years gained an audience that loves it. I’m someone who watched when it was first available for rent (I was too young for my mom to take me to the theater, my Granma rented it for me lol) & I loved it!! I’m sooo happy that you enjoyed it!!

Fun fact: Denise Richards improvised many of her lines. She was not a fan of cinematic horror and stated she did not wish to be typecast as typical other actresses. I heard what some of her original lines were and it was Denise did nothing but improved the movie overall and her fellow female actresses stood behind her.
Wow that's really interesting to know 😱🤔Denise Richards did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Paige Prescott as she put tons of emotion and depth into her role as she displayed the elements of the character's sexiness and sassiness. This is one of her most greatest, iconic, and memorable roles in cinema.😍😎💯👍😏
I live for the Tru Calling mention. I swear up until recently I felt I was the only girl obsessed with Eliza Dushku enough to watch everything she did after Buffy.
@@AlandaParker ^_^ Im glad, I alway felt bad for the band that did the opening song and the Phil collins cover. I thought the lead singer had a unique voice. I would’ve listened to more of their stuff if they came out with it.
Hearing alanda constantly refer to Kate as “lemon square” HAS MEEEEE WEAKKKK🤣🤣🤣 no matter what movies I’ve seen her in once Scream4 came out she def was just lemon square
I am so glad Alanda laughed at how creepy the mask was because this movie used to terrify me as a kid, I walked in on my aunt watching this during the glass shatter kill and for years i thought a man wearing all black and a baby face would come at me from the dark. Valentine is one of those slashers that got accused of being a Scream ripoff but is actually iconic and has its own identity, a little bit like Urban Legend. Alanda you are slaying the horror essential agenda, your channel has been such a joy to witnsss in real time 🙏👏💕

@@mchjsosde Ruthie's death is one of the most brutal, explicit, graphic, and violent death in the whole entire movie as of today it still makes me cringe or squirm.😰😱😖😣
If I saw this as I kid I would have legitimately had to fight whoever showed it to me! The glass kill?!? Literally the most brutal killing! I’m glad you grew up well and unruined 😭😭😭
a fun fan theory (which works to make the film better IMO) is that Dorothy and Jeremy were working together but Jeremy ultimately couldn't let get of his vendetta, killed, and framed her at the end
Wait is that why the maid that was rude to her was killed? I always thought that kill was kinda random when I watched but if Dorothy was in on it it makes sense.
To the audience Dorothy is a red herring as it makes us think she is the killer based on the argument between her and Kate when they both accused their boyfriend's of being the killer which is Adam ( Kate's boyfriend) and Campbell ( Dorothy's boyfriend) as Dorothy figure that Kate was jealous but in reality Kate was stating logical and common facts. 1. She been dating Campbell for a month now and she doesn't even know his last name?, 2. She mention what Ruthie his ex-girlfriend said, and 3. How well do you really know Campbell? It made her angry that she finally told Kate of how she feels about being " The Fat One" as she rants about their personality and characteristic traits as she said " Come on Kate!!!!! You've always been the popular one and Shelly was always the brainy one, and Lily was the fun one, and Paige was the sexy one, and I was the big fat one!!!!! and as far as you concerned that's exactly the way how it is well you know what? screwed all of you!!!!!" That was a bad move on Dorothy's part as she angrily walks away from Kate which made her a easy target for Jeremy. If Dorothy stay with Kate they could have both defeat the killer and Kate will see who the killer is and Kate will apologize to Dorothy for not believing her that Adam was the killer as they will both be the sole survivors of the killing spree. When Adam unmasked the "killer" it is revealed to be Dorothy which shocked and confused Kate but their's a twist as it shows Adam nose is bleeding which indicates he is Jeremy Melton after all as he is the true killer as he framed Dorothy for the murders just like Dorothy framed him for sexual assault. The audience know that because in the opening scene of the movie Jeremy's nose was bleeding when he was attacked by school bullies at the Valentine's Day dance. To this day it still gives me chills and goosebumps 😰😱 as it was just a really perfect way to end the movie due to the works of director Jamie Blanks as it was just constructed perfectly.😍💯👍😎
I really love that Theory better than the predictable twist going in not really a twist u kinda already know who the killer is lol just a fun good time but I would have loved to see this theory play out.
@@thecinemawithjames If you pay attention to when Dorothy is falling down the stairs at the end, she is really limp. We know Adam was upstairs already because he comes out with the gun at the top of the stairs. Adam shoots her multiple times before she gets up so i think Dorothy was already dead or half dead as she and Kate fell down the stairs. He wanted to make sure she couldn't reveal him by finishing her off, but only after she "attacks" Kate
I love how Kate asked Dorothy " Why would she do that?" and why didn't she say something about this to Detective Vaughn when she confesses that Jeremy never attacked her. It just shows she was in complete shock that Dorothy will do something horrible like that.
@@AlandaParker Kate was such a genuinely and sincerely sweet and nice person. She rejected Jeremy in a kind and polite way as she was considerate and sympathetic of his feeling's and she feels remorse and empathy for him despite the fact that she knows he is the killer after Dorothy confesses that he never attacked her. Through all those 13 years Jeremy always remember Kate as the only person that ever gave him a ounce of sincerity and compassion in his life which is why he always loved her and spared her life.

how the maggots got in the chocolate... Melt chocolate and temper it. pour into heart-shaped molds and tip out the excess, after the chocolate has set, mix maggots with caramel, spoon into now set chocolate heart molds, finish by covering with cool melted chocolate, and scrape with a palette knife for a smooth finish. Once the chocolate has set, pop them out of their molds, arrange in a nice box, and serve to your worst enemy.

In a funny way, the ending of this movie is actually poetic justice. Dorothy ruined Jeremy’s life with her false allegation, and Jeremy got her back by setting her up to look like a murderer. It’s the perfect revenge lol i can’t even be mad at him 👏👏👏

Lesson learned from this movie - a little kindness and a little politeness (you don't want to dance with someone, that's your right, but no need to insult someone when you turn them down) can go a long way......maybe even towards saving your life.....
Valentine is one of those movies that you root for the killer instead of the main character's to win. It also teaches you a valuable lesson to be aware of your actions as they come with severe or extreme consequences and circumstances as your past is coming right back to haunt you as that was Jamie Blanks purpose and interpretation of the story which works perfectly for the movie which made it unique and special.😍👍💯😎 Jeremy Melton began life as a lonely and awkward young boy. He was also a social outcast at San Francisco Robert F. Kennedy Middle School whom he was deeply infatuated by five girls named Shelly Fisher, Lily Voight, Paige Prescott, Kate Davies, and Dorothy Wheeler. He looked up to Valentine's Day to finally find social acceptance, happinesses, and loved in one of his crushes but that backfired horribly. Everytime when I watch the opening scene it fills me with rage and sadness as my heart aches for Jeremy 🥺😟😭 as Shelly, Lily, Paige rejected him in a cruel and heartless way as they we're not considerate and sympathetic of his feeling's, Kate also rejected him as well but at least she did it in a kind and polite way as she was considerate and sympathetic of his feeling's which is why he always loved her and spared her life, and Dorothy framed him for sexual assault, got him beat up by bullies, and got sent to reform school. I definitely feel remorse and empathy for Jeremy as I totally sympathize for him as he was completely innocent the whole entire time as he was falsely accused of a sexual assault allegation as he got sent to reform school, a year later he lands in juvenile hall, and six months later he stayed at a mental hospital. For the past 13 years Jeremy went through a whole and full transformation in order to change his appearance in order to get close to Shelly, Lily, Paige, and Dorothy so he can exact his revenge as he specifically remember's their comments they state to him when he ask each one of them to dance which foreshadow their fates. Jeremy went through pain, agony, hell, and trauma due to their actions as he was publicly humiliated which made him overcome with rage and vengeance thus making him into a serial killer with the sole intention of getting revenge. Wacthing Jeremy getting his revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they did not take full responsibility for their actions as their past is coming right back to haunt them all as they do not have no remorse or regret.😏😈
your videos are honestly a highlight of my week, I always look forward to finding out what new film you will be watching. keep up the great work Alanda xx
I saw it in theaters girl, opening weekend! When I was way too young to be watching, but I was a dedicated Katherine Heigl fan (Wish Upon a Star) It wasn’t a successful movie but it did get media coverage (bc of the cast & being a Scream like slasher). They definitely did their best to promote it… I remember the tv spots like crazy 😂❤
I saw this movie in 2002 when I was in high school, and I wrote my own screenplay about a similar slasher mystery about bullying in high-school. It even had the big finale at the mansion. I was bullied a lot, and it felt like a good way to express my hatred for my bullies.
Omg we had to cut out characters from magazines then create a story based on it and I similarly wrote an action/horror school revenge story in 5th grade, (also bullied) at a STRICT EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN school and as a naive kid, I didn't understand that the words "slut" and "whore" were inappropriate... I ended up getting in trouble, teacher talked to my parents, not for the violent content but for the language, go figure lol
If you like 2000s slashers, _Sorority Row_ (2009) is one of the better ones I don't think you've reacted to yet. And if you're in the mood for an '80s horror, I recommend checking out _The Hitcher_ (1986). They released a remake in 2007, but the '86 version is the one to watch.
Alanda, you have movies on your list like "HOUSE OF WAX" "P2" "LOST HOUSE ON THE LEFT" "WHEN A STRANGER CALLS" "MY BLOODY VALENTINE REMAKE" " SORORITY ROW" "HALLOWEEN ROB ZOMBIE" "EDEN LAKE" "THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2006" "THE DESCENT" "NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2010 REMAKE" and hope you will react to "FREDDY VS JASON" iconic ❤️ have a great weekend, Alanda ❤️

Paige's reaction when Dorothy confesses that Jeremy never attacked her was so cruel and heartless. Even though she was indeed shocked but at the same time she was nonchalant and dismissive.
This movie and several others like it happened as a result of Scream 1996's success. The late 90s early 2000s slasher films are fun and this one is a classic. The fact the main actress went on to play Officer Judy Hicks in Scream 4 & 2022 makes me wonder where she is hiding the lemon squares in this film.

Arizona and Angel worked together in Bones. He was Booth the male lead and she was his baby mama. So Capshaw worked with two future coworkers in this movie
Funny... when this reaction began I was thinking I has never seen this movie before. Then when David Boreanz showed up I remembered I did see it. It was sorta popular at the time...

Speaking of being an OG Buffy fan, I just remembered wearing an Angel shirt to a concert once and not one person recognized it! I kept getting asked if he was the guy from Bones 😳 I mean, yeah, but... How old are all of you?! This was in 2009, so it wasn't like Buffy (or Angel for that matter) had been off the air for that long.
I think what's great is that it's established early on that Angel's drinking habits made him scary. I feel like this movie is an exercise in Chekhov's Gun. Every detail about every character comes back in some way, shape, or form.

It has this sexy and guilty pleasure vibe such as the concept, element, tone, and theme as it was just constructed perfectly. It was such a unique and creative perspective in the slasher genre. The actresses did a great job portraying their roles. Also I love that twist ending and that song called Breed by Snake River Conspiracy that plays at the ending credits. It was just a really perfect way to end the movie. To this day I keep up a tradition of watching it every February and I consider it decent. Valentine is a true blue modern gem. Jamie Blanks directed a classic that will be in our hearts forever. It never gets old.😍💯😎👍
LOL your reaction to seeing David Boreanaz but I get it cause same🤭 I remember back in the day my cousin and I both admitted we wanted to watch the film for David Boreanaz and even made plans to see it in theaters but sadly we were too broke and too under age. Then we finally got to see when she bought the dvd and we had a sleep over at her place where we must've watched like 3 times that weekend lol This film is so underrated I'm glad people have been coming around to it after all these years later.

It is one of Jamie Blanks best and finest work in cinema. When it was first released it received negative reviews which totally confused me but despite that I hold it very close to my heart. The movie was just constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. It was such a fun rollercoaster thrill ride. You have a good time with this movie. This movie was a sleepover staple when I was growing up and I have no idea why. I watched it again as an adult and it is SO bad, but in the best ways. So glad to see you reacting to it!

So excited to start the video! This was my absolute favourite movie when I was a kid. The first VHS tape I ever bought when I was 11. It’s cheesy, it has its issues, but it was my favourite when I was little and it will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. 😂

@@dejaalston8672 I saw this movie in theaters and had an awesome time. I’m a fan of slasher films and as a teen, this was a must-watch. I remember buying this magazine called “Wicked” which featured Valentine in it and I was geeking out showing it to all my classmates. I love the costume of the killer. I have the motion picture soundtrack. The acting is good, the plot is interesting, and the kills are awesome. It may not be a smart psychological thriller, but it’s a fun entertaining popcorn slasher film, and honestly, I sometimes prefer to watch this type of movie. ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed this. It's one of my comfort films. I saw this in theaters in 9th grade and loved it. It did not do well at the box office and most people I knew thought it was terrible. I was also a huge Buffy fan, so Angel's presence was a major influence on my watching it. Also, I love that you know Tru Calling (all of your references really). I loved that show and remember being so bummed when it got canceled. Thank you for always being a ray of light in a world that often seems bleak. You always bring me so much joy and laughter.

Watched this movie a few days ago on Tubi when you announced it, honestly a good time. I love these 90s/00s slashers, just pure silly fun. And you have a crazy talent of knowing exactly what characters are going to/should say before they say it, your instincts are on POINT. Can’t wait to see what you have ready for the rest of February, you definitely should squeeze The Menu in if you can because you’d really love it I think. Happy V-Day! ❤️ And also, try to enjoy your last month of social media safety before you go dark since it’s less than a month before Scream 6. I got my tickets for the Thursday premiere and I can’t WAIT! It’s going to be a long month and even longer before we watch it together, but it’ll be worth it I know.

Out of Shelly, Lily, Paige, and Dorothy who we're very cruel and heartless Kate is the most likeable one due to her being such a genuinely and sincerely sweet and nice person.
I absolutely love watching your reaction/commentary videos. After I watched this one and your Scream videos I had to subscribe! Thank you for remembering that an audience is watching you and to actually interact with us, instead of just being silent while watching. Love it! I plan to binge watch all your scary movie videos lol
Yeees I lived for all of the Buffy/Angel references! 35:01 Soulless Angel 😅 I felt that. & 4:07 a Tru Calling reference?? I feel so seen! Lol I've love Eliza Dushku since she played Faith 😍 Alanda, you're the best! Happy VDay!
Eeek! my love, sweet valentines!! i was just sitting down to slap my makeup on and gett the day going. So so so happy to have my coffee with your sweet smiling soul today! have a wonderful day all stay safe
This was one of those slashers where I had NO SYMPATHY for any of the victims. Except for Kate. She basically rejected him at the dance, but in a nice way.
I watched this when it came out seven years old and always been a favourite of mine. I’m glad it’s being hyped up because it didn’t do much much in 2001! “Lemon square” gets me every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love this movie. Always thought it was very underrated. It's a fun, cool slasher film with an interesting plot. And I'm glad you recognized David Boreanaz as Angel and not Booth from Bones. Lol. I had the biggest crush on him in my teenage years. Still kinda do.

@@dejaalston8672 I agree with everything you said. I've read horrible reviews about this movie and I just don't get it. It's all very well done. The cast is great, the story is very interesting, the soundtrack is awesome. Even the killer's mask is genuinely unsettling. Is it a perfect masterpiece? No. But it's definitely fun and one of the better slasher movies to come out after the Scream craze. I consider it better than Urban Legend and almost tied with I Know What You Did Last Summer. The hate is very undeserved in my opinion.
your face timed perfectly with the bell in the movie at 7:30 !! had me rolling!!! watched this movie when i was younger and totally forgot about it until now and i’m loving this react!!

I remember this movie was so hard to find. I found the dvd around 2004 at Walmart in the bin and it had a cardboard cover, not even plastic lol. But I was instantly obsessed. So happy you liked it
