Nice work! We chatted about this over on Facebook and I had a chance to watch this in full. Nicely done. Other ideas for your video series: - comparing PR to S in a bullpen when standing behind pitcher instead of behind catcher - Compare PR to S when not ideally aligned to see how much grace room each provides (sometimes the other guy beats you to the optimal spot on the fence) - compare on other use cases like exit velo off the tee - compare the PR and S to their respective tuning forks at various distances Thanks for the great content! I appreciate the more scientific approach you are taking.

Great ideas. I will do them all. The tuning fork difference is simply mathematics. The Stalker tuning fork can be used by the pocket radar, simply by using the equation: Delta f= (delta V)/c X f F is the tuning fork frequency, which doesn't change. C is speed of light Delta V is the velocity of the pitch (or, in our situation, what we are solving for). Stalker uses 34.7 ghz as their frequency and pocket radar uses 24.125 So, we can plug in those numbers and get the expected value. A Stalker with a 25 mph fork for the Stalker 34 ghz band will return 25 mph and the pocket radar should return 36 mph. With a 40 mph tuning fork the Stalker will return 40 mph and the pocket radar will return 58 mph. So, the tuning forks are interchangeable, you just need to do some math to see what you should expect with both.

This is purely anecdotal but the pocket radar doesn’t seem accurate. My 10u son has worked on his throwing over the winter and coaches with lots of experience are saying he is throwing in the low 50s. We brought a pocket radar to his practice and it showed he was consistently hitting 48. So let’s say it’s odd by 2 or 3…he is in the 50s like we thought. The problem I have is that other kids who clearly throw nowhere near as hard as he does are registering 45-47…kids whose throws have a distinct loop in contrast to my son’s throws which are much more level. Long story short, my son clearly throws significantly harder than these kids but it does not show up on pocket radar. It makes me think there is some accuracy issues with pocket radar, especially in the 40-50mph band.

Are you holding the radar steight at the pitcher, without angle? In continuous mode? How far away? If you are close (within 50 feet) the PR is very accurate.
