This video is all about Stammering and the often negative stereotypes in films and on TV about stammering over the years that have influenced our society to treat stammering as a joke or see stammering as something that needs to be fixed and for me this is one of the reasons why stammering is so misunderstood by the general public.

Hello Jordan, another eloquent video, well presented. The content also has the basis for a good journalistic written article, for publication, which is perhaps another medium by which you might spread the word. 👍

Good videos bro!!! the stereotypes are a dime a dozen but people that stereotype are usually not worth our efforts in giving a f___ck... Personally, I have found that when I simply come out and let someone know that I have stammer on the onset of a conversation, I stammer less and the other party is more patient. The anxiety I used to get from attempting to conceal my stammer took a toll on me and I believe it also attributed to my fluency issues. Keep making these videos and inspiring others to get out and do whatever they want regardless of a stammer. Great Job

I 100% agree what you're telling. Shy, nervous and all the rest. I'm the least shyest person ever I think. Lol. I'm not nervous. The stutter makes me nervous! I hate all those negative stuff around it. Bc it's just not true.

Yeah I know, I wanted to socialise and speak to people but my stammer was making me not want to speak because of judgemental people or the negative reactions that stammerers get from people who don't understand what life is like if you stammer.

Jordan Halkier true. I'm always afraid that ppl judge me for the stutter. It's weird. Bc it shouldn't matter one bit. The ppl who love us don't care about it. They still love us and just wait. We're pretty vulnerable with it I think.

BikerMouse80 yeah I totally agree, I feel like a lot of fluent people have been influenced by these so called stammering portrays in films and on TV and believed in what these shows are telling them about people who stammer so they believe it and that's why they think that we stammer because we are nervous or anxious.

Jordan Halkier It's sad but true. If I sometimes tell ppl what an impact it had and still has on me they're baffled. They often think it's just what they're hearing and seeing. They have no idea that's underneath it. They can't know. That's why I tell it now and then. But they don't expect it! And that the stutter makes me nervous. Not the other way around. And that I CAN breathe. That it's NOT about that. That I'm perfectly aware of WHAT I wanna say. Maybe more then they know themselves.

BikerMouse80 yeah I know, few people know that stammering is a lot more than what you see, in fact the stammer isn't the most dominant part about this disorder, it's the thoughts and feelings around stammering that is far more harmful.
