You have done such a cool and thorough job exploring Turkey through stamps. Well done! I'm also quite impressed with the concept of an #Xtremephilately cruise, you totally were able to hit 5 stamps on location in one activity.... hmm an Xtremephilately cruise could become a thing 🤔. Also, I don't trust fruit baskets anymore.
Hey ES ıf you come to istanbul make sure to hit Taksim There's stamps coin post cards fdc seller and There's a place called Sahaflar Çarşısı It's 150 y o place of antique of everything
Thanks so much for your comment, Graham! I KNOW an official #xtremephilately cruise would be epic! People could be given their little envelope of stamps as they board the boat and info pamphlet about them 😂.. and of course some beverages to enjoy on board. I definitely want to go on more, but probably only really big cities (Paris? London?) would have so many historical sites all clustered nearby the river. Thanks for watching, as always!
Thank you for showing me new angles of this beautiful city. The visit of my son a few years ago had made me see in photo and live by his phone many places in the city. But this experience on the water was very pleasant and instructive. Thank you very much for your work. 👏👏👏🥰👍
I really enjoyed travelling vicariously through you again. The history was so interesting! I’m definitely going to do a boat tour when I visit Turkey one day☺️
It was super fun! Although if I could do it again I would (bring a jacket because it got cold as the sun set and also) take a transit ferry boat to the 'Asian' side of Istanbul and wander around there! It would have been a lot cheaper and I think you still get the same nice skyline view. The boat tour was fun for xtremephilately, though!
your efforts are really commendable ... in a remote way you gave us an opportunity to be on a cruise too and no words are in suffice to be in gratitude. A Turkish philatelist had given me the last one you featured in this series, and it is pretty much a fav too among Turkish stamps I have. I will share your Turkey series with her ... and will now keep my eyes open for other minisheets here/stamps that I may not have :)
Thanks for watching, Basil, and for sharing the episodes with your friend! The last stamp is truly nice especially in the artwork/ design, I think. Glad you could join me on the cruise :)
Thanks Richard! We were pretty much always in motion and it was windy enough that I wasn't going to use the tongs to hold the stamps haha. Thanks for watching again
I went to the " PTT Filateli ve Pul Galerisi Mermerhan" near Eminonu (you can see this in 'part 1 of the Turkey series videos!). Is that the same as the philatelic window? Overall it was set up to serve philatelists- there were many covers and commemorative stamps for sale! But it was different than what I expected- usually I like to choose which stamps to buy individually, but when I went to that store I could only buy the stamps as part of a big group/in a big packet. But as a result, I got lots of things from there!
