Two masterful jazz greats in what would be one of Stan's final performances. FYI this tune was composed by Mal Waldron and can be found on a 1992 Album: People Time by Getz & Barron.
I think after listening to his 3 or 4 recorded/youtube versions of this gentle giant of a ballad that this is his finest (& last) version.....with his old army experience wrapped in with several repeated intertwinings of Reveie (wakeup call) in the most beautiful places.......followed by Kenny Barron's like finest take of this song. Not sure if I can capture this version on any album, but thankful for its upload of this Live feed on RU-vid (forever?I hope)......
Cor Van Der Mey you can find it on People Time: The Complete Recordings, a 7 cds box set. Recorder on several nights at Jazzhus Club in Copenaghen, 1991!
This was recorded in Italy, probably in Puglia region at 3:04 you can see the banner behind saying "GIA 10-15 LUGLIO" in Italian it means 10-15 July and -GIA I think is Foggia a city in Puglia. And the network streaming this event was RAIDUE which is one of the State TV Channels.
