Raised in Chicago. Our HS jazz band specialized in Kenton music. Saw him live several time at the Blue Note. Still love his music. Now living in Dallas. Stan gave all his music to the University of North Texas whose jazz bands practice in Kenton Hall. The One O'clock Lab Band has a great CD of Kenton music.

Unless I've missed something, no recording date is given. Judging from Stan's appearance and his seeming degree of physical stiffness, this may have been recorded during the late 1970s, not long before his death. Nearly four decades of performances!

Sorry, I posted the above commnet before the credits ran: the recording date was1977 (not all that long before Stan's death).

May 6, 1977 to be exact. Recorded at Leisure Lodge in Cambridge Ontario. There was supposed to be a rehearsal that afternoon but it was cancelled to let Stan rest. One take live to tape was all the crew got. There was no postproduction. I did audio and sweated through a good pair of clothes.

Kenton & Einstein are brothers of different mothers, but twins nonetheless!

Kenton; the man who made me decide to live my life as a musician man! A letter from him was as close as I ever got to play with him: were never playing the same town at the same town!! There will never be another Stan Kenton!!
