The great thing about stan is he actually sounds like what you hear now. No autotune required. He’s severely and criminally underrated on the global scale. He should have Grammys by the dozen.
You could not have said it any better or more accurate…Stan walker is truely something else and so deserves to be recognised globally! He has a god given gift that should be shared with the world!
When I was living in NZ in '96, I'd go to the gym at Mount Albert, and these big Maori boys would be sitting on the weight benches singing harmonies like this.
As a Kiwi, your shock and surprise when he began singing in te reo Maori brought tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful language. Such an important part of the culture here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Stan is Maori He won Australian Idol a few years back Love this version and cover, Love Stan's voice, Maori's are known for great voices, It's very rare that a Maori can't sing I'm Aussie, my Mums from NZ and I grew up listerning to Maori songs and artist
Appreciate all your professional opinions and generous, kind, considerate comments referring to the exceptional, professional skill and performance excellence executed by Stan Walker and the Laminites backup singers and the solo guitarist. Pure class by all. I
Just a heads up, if u come to Australia make sure u know the difference between Australian and New Zealanders. Stan walker and crowded house main man Neil Finn is from New Zealand. Although other band members are Aussie being formed in Melbourne. Neil would be offended to be called Aussie. Be like me calling u Canadian. Lol
Singing in Te ReoMaori, the language of new Zealand's indigenous people. Stan ought to be an international star by now, his talent is off the chart. Love your reactions, so authentic, and your voice is crazy good too!
This is utterly beautiful... Stan has done a beautiful version ... the Maori, lovely... the back up singers ...The Levites?...so gorgeously smooth and complimentary to each other. Love it .
Stan Walker is from New Zealand, Crowded House lead singer is from New Zealand my uso, Please dont get our New Zealand Music mixed up with Australian Music
Crowded house is a mash up of both countries. Although Neil Finn is a New Zealander, Paul Hester and Nick Seymour are Australian, the band was also formed in Melbourne. But have to acknowledge both Neil and Paul were both former band members from the New Zealand band Split Enz. Fine line, but both Australia and New Zealand can claim them in their own ways
Stan has such a soulful voice, has had a challenging life. He has come out the other side with family, love and his magnificent voice. I am sure that the Crowded House guys really really dig this two language version.
So proud of our Stan in New Zealand. There is a constant good natured banter between Aussies and New Zealanders. But if there was a war we would stand together as cousins as they did in WW 2 on the other side of the world. Stan has been through a lot and fought for his life as he battled surgeries as he and other family members carry a gene that leads to stomach cancer. Toa nui, a great warrior.
You really are practically an honorary Aussie with all the Aussie (and Kiwi) reactions. I’m so grateful you found our gems. Proud Aussie from Melbourne!
Stan is from nz ❤ he was raised in Australia, he came home and sings alot of Maori waiata and he's proud to be doing it xx my favorite musician off all time ❤
Stan is a maori and our people are quite spiritual,we live within our feelings and our love 4 the land is different,we are indiginous people of nz, the beautiful thing about stan is he can sing anything even without his stomach, music comes natural cause maori kids grow up in kapa haka, just like how people are bought up in church choir,
Please please please please react to ‘Inside Out’, Stan and his whole crew are amazing in it, and I know you’ll love it! Love from New Zealand, we are so proud of Stan ❤️🙏🏼
😊❤❤❤You have a lovely voice too," THANK YOU" for you positive reaction to Stan Walker & The Levites version of this beautiful song "Don't Dream It's Over👍❤❤❤
You see his passion for singing at the end. When he finishes, he us so excited and thankful that he could bless us with his gift. Even after all he had to go through he is still phenomenal. Kia Kaha Stan. You're doing your whanau and your people proud.
Hi TSR. Do yourself a favour and listen to Stan and crew do a cover of Tennessee Whisky..... it's fantastic. Can't send links, but just search: Stan Walker, Parson James - Tennessee Whiskey. New Zealand Maori people are most times fantastic musicians. (IMO) Cheers from Downunder.
Stan is New Zealand Maori, Neil Finn (Crowded House) is also a New Zealander as are The Levites. Always enjoy your reviews, following from New Zealand.
DO IT NICK!....Get that song out there....You'd sound amazing doing this song... Nick when you turn down the sound on the video feed we can't hear the vocals ...have to turn my sound full blast but then when you talk It's deafening lol. Please don't turn the sound down...Stan was singing in a Maori dialect as he was born in New Zealand. I'm with you Stan made this song something special. He would appreciate the words as he nearly lost his life with stomach cancer and now lives without a stomach. Amazing story.
As others have said, Stan sings the middle section in te reo māori. He's a beautiful ambassador for his culture & language. Crowded House were a mix of Aussies and Kiwis (New Zealanders), but Neil Finn is a Kiwi. I think the personal trials that Stan has come through have brought a new dimension to him as an artist. He was always incredibly talented, but he's now maturing into a phenomenally soulful singer, whose driven to leave something special in the world with using his gifts. and his technique is just out of this world now. You MUST go back and watch some of his breakout Australian Idol performances and compare to how he sounds now - massive talent even as a kid, but so so raw. His journey is incredible - and far from over. Thanks to reactors like yourself, I think he's on the cusp of hitting a new level internationally...which is no more than he deserves.
Love Stan Walker he’s awesome!! Been watching you since you did the first YEBBA reaction i am a big YEBBA fan so anything you do with her I’m so happy thank you for all you do
You have a beautiful voice love your reaction he is singing in our native tongue Māori its a straight translation of the english words we are not Australians we are New Zealanders Stan is so talented and humble thank you
you are so welcome. in yr own time it b cool for u to watch his documentary...stans story...it givs a great understanding of who he is and his journey. also like the other comment...his amazing Grace eill def mak u close your eyes and tak it in for sure
I love how they switched to singing in Maori. For years our language was oppressed. My mother and her sisters never fully learnt Maori because their generation were scolded by white teachers and society. Now today, we celebrate our very first Official Maori New Year here in New Zealand. #Matariki
