Original singer of “don’t dream it’s over” is from New Zealand. Stan is Maori descent from New Zealand. Māori is one of the official languages of New Zealand so he’s combined it all. There is a movement to promote and showcase Maori language with Songs within New Zealand.

Stan won Australian Idol but he is Maori. He won Australian Idol because his voice is pure gold. The second verse was sung in the Maori language and it is a translation of the english verse and hook he sings. Stan left Australia in search of his Maori roots. He is one of Australia and New Zealand's top vocalist. His voice did to you Asia what your voice does to others. Neil Finn, front man for 'Crowded House' wrote and composed this song in 1986. The Crowded House version was 'The Version', but I liked this version too. If you haven't reacted to it there, you should! It's one of my favorite songs (can't help but sing along every time)! 🥰😔

Stan is an exceptional singer, without question one of our premier vocalists in NZ. Hope you explore more of Stan's music, an obvious start would be a Kanye West cover, "Ultralight Beam". When music is sung in our native language "Maori", it brings a richer, deeper meaning to the "Wairua" (Soul). As Asia said, you may not understand the language, it doesn't matter as long as you feel the message behind it, In the words of BJ "Ataahua" (Beautiful) reaction. Ultralight Beam by Stan Walker is beyond incredible. It's a Kanye cover but imo blows the original out of the water. I would highly recommend reviewing it. He just oozes talent, as do the backing vocalists. It's so beautiful. Your reaction was very moving ❤️. Stan is a very humble young man. I would love to see more reactions to him 😊

Crowded House is an amazing band, as a temperamental 80s teenager this was on repeat, helped me navigate high school, then this version by our brilliant Stan carried me through my Dads departure from us, I heard every word you said, I wouldn't take any of that month away, also wished I had more time with my Daddy. Asia, BJ.. Stan competed on Australian Idol in 2009 (& won) & this is a cover of a song made famous by a group called Crowded House, a group who are very famous in my part of the world (Australia) & of course, New Zealand, where the Finn Brothers (Neil & Tim) are from. This song was a huge hit when it was released & would be very well received by crowds at Crowded House concerts 👍😁

@@TheRetroManRandySavage … I can’t argue there as I’ve been a Crowded House fan for many years & was fortunate enough to see their final live performance on the steps of the famous Sydney Opera House which was awesome. The added bonus was I didn’t have to travel far as I only lived about 20 minutes’ drive away from the venue. It was definitely one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

Woah snap, Stan has always been crazy good, but the 2 guys in the Levites are actually incredible singers as well. I went to school with the clean haircut one and my older brothers are close friends w the one wearing the cap. Believe me when I tell you that they both have incredible singing voices, especially the one w the haircut. A few years back, They had a university group that wrote and performed a stage play called “Ruth” after the bible story, and the cast included all 3 singers of the Levites. They had people crying because of how beautiful their singing was 😩 I’m glad they’re getting abit of Global recognition now
