Tell me if I’m off, but the ancestor-like people who “bleed in” in that forest behind Stan - I’m transfixed. It’s like the women (and Stan as well) use the hand fluttering with so much intention. They are literally transmitting and broadcasting the history and the men stand defiant, prepared to defend. The eyes wide open pretty much stop you in your tracks! I imagine intimidation plays a part, but an even deeper message hit me: “YOU WILL SEE ME.” Straighten me out however you can.
@@whitfield2000 The hand action is called Wiri, it shows you have life energy and what they are doing is drawing on the living around them, including Mother Earth (Papatuanuku). The facial expression is called Pukana, it is an expression of high emotions including love, grief, anger, mocking. Your inner feelings expressed outwardly.
What of your other mainly european ancestors i guess theyre not good enough , so you disown them . Your whiteness shows you are selling out to separatism
I get chills this is timely with the current political scene in our nation with a government who is hellbent on trying to wipe out our Maori culture in our nation and trying to get rid of the Treaty of Waitangi our founding docurment and being a white (pakeha) i am against this government for what they are doing. The Maori culture and language is part of both pakeha (white) and maori people. Many white families have maori blood and we are so entwined and I will stand against anyone who tries to take it out of our nation. The Maori culture is very much part of our language and if people cant accept it need to go and live somewhere else. Maori culture is part of who we are even though I am white.
