Higher belts I roll with tend to go for the paper cutter choke in some sort of a kesa position when I attempt the ghost escape (typically on heavier opponents as I'm a smaller guy). Any ideas on this? Great video!

@@wiezumteufel9024 Oh, you weren't joking... I honestly thought you were, my mistake. On a serious note, to you know actually attempt to add value to the conversation. This video is filmed at Peterson Grappling Academy (PG), where coach Brian Peterson (the coach featured in the video) is the owner and head coach. In the PG academy belts aren't really a thing as far as I can tell. He trains people for all different types of grapeling from BJJ to scholastic wrestling to self defense and police training. I've been following this channel for years, and from what I can tell, belts just aren't really a thing at his gym. I have seen some vids including gi BJJ where players do wear colored belts, however I believe their work at PG is supplementary to their training at another BJJ gym, where they just wear whatever belt color they have earned at their respective gyms. I clould be wrong, but what I do know is that belt ranks are not really an emphasis at his studio, at least not on video in this channel so it just seemed a bit funny to me for you to wonder about belt color here. But I could be completely off base here. Hopefully somebody with better inside knowledge on the topic chimes in.

@@binaryglitch64you’re mostly correct in your assessment, which I enjoyed reading. We do have belt rank in BJJ but it is “our” system of it and I don’t focus on the belts much like others do. These two are both blue belts and when I rank my guys they need to be competent in all areas to achieve their rank. In some schools you will find guard work better than my students rank for rank, however it should not be too different. The takedown and MMA minded grappling style we have makes our guys much better than their typical BJJ counterparts rank for rank. Our blue belts train for several years and often times stay blue belt for many years. I only have 2 black belts I’ve promoted after 25 years plus of teaching.

People are all different. I hate the feeling of "air" in striking. Swinging and missing, only making contact for an instant, sharp explosive movements, it just feels weird for me

@@CB-pi5hc I guess that in the future the people goes to train mma and will be specialized in grappling or striking, so will choose the martial art the like most. Actually if I would start at martial arts now, I would do this.
