Hi S.E., when extended to 10 feet there can be a little "give" in the middle of the pole. This is normal and the pole will remain secure as long as there is tension between the floor and ceiling. We recommend keeping the included wrench and tightening the pole every month to eliminate the possibility of thread-settling. The Pole also comes with hardware to attach the top and bottom pieces to the floor and ceiling if you are not comfortable relying on tension alone, but is not required.
