Working in a cold environment is not much fun and this often means that you spend less time working and more time concentrating on other things- like getting warm. The Stanley ST-603-WS-E Turbo Freestanding Workshop Electric Fan Heater gives just enough heat to warm up a small workshop so that you can continue working without it being so cold that you cannot grip things properly. This heater does not produce a massive amount of heat but it does produce a nice background heat. Brought to you by www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/video/

Just ordered one from your suggestion. Been looking for something like this for a while now for the garage/workshop. Read loads of reviews first and they all seem fairly positive. Can't complain at £44.99

Arrived this morning, put the legs together and set it up in the garage/workshop or the garshop as we call it. As you say, gave it a while to warm up which I did and I am very happy with the result. It warmed the garshop up a treat. A nice comfortable working temperature for getting on with some woodwork. Very pleased, so I am glad I stumbled across your review.

I also use something like this in my garage. It´s a 3.3Kw, but does heat up the garage so that your hands are relatively warm. Bit more noise though, but it sends the warm air nicely in the garage.

Very useful for a small shop for taking that edge off. Electric heaters don't really have enough oompf for me and are quite pricey to run. I use an Inverter Paraffin heater which has got plenty of guts for keeping my shop warm (I need fine motor control in my hands for my work) and is quite economical to run if you can get a reasonably priced source of fuel.

I just bought one of these and can put my hand pretty much right up to the grill and it doesn't even burn my hand when been running on full all day. Can some one please tell me if it is supposed to run so low before I take it back? It was on all day in my garage yesterday and didn't heat it up at all and if you stand a bit away from it it just feels like its blowing cold air.

It does not produce a massive amount of heat, but just enough to take the chill away in my garage. My mate said it blew cold last year until he want in the loft space, when he returned he said he could feel the heat from it.

Hi, I bought one of these in the summer and just tried to use it last weekend but it barely generates any heat at all. I'm thinking it may be a faulty thermostat, I'm going to give Stanley a call first but may have to return it. Just an aside I saw you had a piece of Perspex next to the heater do you mind me asking where you sourced it from?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 7 лет назад
They do not generate a massive amount of heat, but if left in a garage etc. it generates enough heat to take the chill off which means you can take your coat off after a while. I have had the Perspex for years as I worked at the plant in Darwen where they made it. I worked on inspection and if we got a scrap sheet I could get a pass out note from the manager to take some of it home, so I have a selection of various colours and thicknesses LOL. Thanks for the comment

I fancy something like this to take the chill off the garage before I go for a workout on my home gym. If I put it on for half hour before working out, would that be enough....garage is 16` x 8`
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 6 лет назад
It depends how well insulated the garage is. My garage is double glazed, has cavity wall insulation and has an insulated door and plasterboard ceiling and if I use this heater it takes the chill off on cold days to make it bearable in there. A lot of people say this heater does not provide enough heat output for their garage. It's easy to insulate a garage door BTW- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pqAhSxXzuq0.html

I have just noticed that you have the ST-603-WS-E. I now have the ST-52-241-E and for the life of me I can't see any difference between the two units, is there one?

I just brought this from B&Q a week ago for my outdoor work shed. Sadly this did not perform the way I'd hoped. After 3 hours made no difference. Paid £60. I was using an electric heater which I brought for £30 5 years ago and although not perfect, it did a much better job then the Stanley. There is nothing turbo about this machine. So returning it back.

Just got this Stanley ST-52-241-E yesterday and have to say it heats ok but the MAIN DRAWBACK preventing it from putting out more heat is the FAN. The fan is clocked at 1300RPM and imo it's too high. 1000/1100 RPM WOULD SUFFICE and then you would feel the heat 🔥 instantly. Can anyone help me somehow lower the RPM of the fan or maybe lower its input voltage therefore lowering the RPM? Thanks in advance.

Good point- maybe fan is to strong so heater inside have no chance to get really hot and make air really warm

I would imagine so, I think you can just undo the thumb turn screws at each side. I'll check the next time I am in the garage and will post back if it's any different ;-)

Can i put this in a car
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 5 лет назад
You could, but it needs mains voltage electricity to work. You would have to ensure it was not near to any seats etc. as it could cause a fire.

Everyone is overlooking the obvious. Shops are dusty and radiator fins get get clogged. Ceramic style is best but needs filtration. Bulbs loose 1/2 power per year and good luck replacing them. This is a stove element, covering a small surface area =robust but not max effectiveness. A deep strong fan that is far away from the heat source and pushing forward. The only gripe I have is when the therm is reached, the heat and fan turns off, the fan should run for +2 minutes to de energize the heat element. A candle that burns 2x bright burns 1/2 as long

I had a ST-305-401-E. My fan quit on me after 2 years. The plain bearing gave up, most likely due to dust particles getting in there. That's kind of bad considering how long a electric motor generally last. Anyway, the fan keeps going after it's turned it off to cool it down, that's controlled by the one of the thermostats.
@oldskulE
@oldskulE 5 лет назад
I got something similiar. Ive put 3kw full power and it took me 2hours to warm up room up to just a 4 degrees from zero and it stuck at this level. It sucks cold air and blows it threw the low temperature heater so its hard to feel it is even warm. Hair dryer of my wife can do same work in 2hours. Waste of money

Unfortunately these heaters are never going to produce lots of heat. Sometimes I use this to take the chill off, but if it's really cold I get out the space heater- but then you can't breathe due to the fumes. Thanks for the comment
