The eclipse would be meaningless if they did, but I agree.I just debated with a buddy over it, and I still do not see why they do not just include them. He said that it would not be balanced, but really, who cares? Just take off a turret or whatever, I dunno.
Crew would be important for sure. I'm not sure I agree with the lack of pilot DPS - you're basically dumping your torpedoes and running away. It is a bomber, after all, and you don't want to stick around in a combat zone for too long.
@@loganmcdougall8647 That might be the case, but this beauty is the homage to the old Broadsword bomber, which had 3 pilot operated mass drivers. And think about it. With how MM allows for precision targetting a bomber like this would be well using triple size 2/3 massdrivers for removing turrets prior to launching the torps. They could well add some "bespoke" unchangeable guns there for that.
just think about that few min ago. that it's really gonna be. and also it's gonna be so good bigger ship selling point to them. i think 4.0 that's gonna be possible.
*UEEs most armored cargo hauler, the Retaliator. Used it in XT and that thing shrugged off its punishment, just salty it lost 200k body HP with MM. Also, fun fact, it can equip Size 3 coolers, but they bug out in the cooler mounting box and mesh with the ship walls. :D
I bought a bunch of CCUs to it, but I'm not thinking on keeping any of them. The Galaxy looks like a way better modular ship, although not yet in game.
I wouldn't say the Galaxy is outright better, it's just an entirely different ship with an industrial focus rather than a combat one. You're essentially comparing apples to oranges.
Its a nice ship tho I am not gonna pay real money for the modules.. they are silly money.. so I will wait until they are available in game. I got it for war bond price.. but then i seen the price of the modules and was like hell no lol
Great review. It's currently my favourite ship in the game, so much so that I upgraded my pledge to it. I love the S9 torpedoes and being able to carry vehicles with me, etc. I just wish it could fit a Cyclone but that's life lol
Absolutely love this ship, but I refunded my upgrade back to my C1 as it's just too niche to have as my only pledge ship. In terms of living, there's 2 more types of modules in concept, living, which gives you basically a mess hall, and dropship which turns it into a troopship with jumpseats to rapidly deploy to the surface. I've bought the ship ingame, just waiting on the modules to go on sale in game, without them it's just a beautiful shuttle for a solo player.
I own a Tally (BOMBER) but since I'm mostly a solo player and I only use this ship to run Urgent beacons, I'm thinking of changing it for a Vulture which seems a lot like an enjoyable ship
My pledge these days is a Cutlass Phoenix Emeeald pack, the one that came with the ship along with P-72 Emerald, Ursa Fortuna, and a Cyclone MT... because its green i guess. Well, i nevee cared about the MT, so i CCU'd it to a base 'Tali back when she was still 150. Because of that CCU the whole pack has 10 years insurance and the Retaliator is one of my most fliwn ships. My pledged configuration (bought 2 modules when those came out) is a forward missile bay and rear cargo bay, makes her the best damn ERT runner in the 'verse. Run in, bomb tbe target, recover some spoils of war.
Thanks for another great vid. I want to love this ship, but the modability costs are to high. Not enough cargo grid to justify the need for such a large crew for me.
The only real reason I can think of for the cargo grid is if you needed to transport something valuable that needs better protection than your average transport. Perhaps important cargo for an org maybe, but it's still a bit on the niche side of things for sure. I think more combat-focused modules down the road will be where the value is, such as swapping out torpedo modules for conventional bomb bays, etc. if get that.
What I'm really curious to see is what is the ship like without any modules. Is it just empty space where the two torpedo bays are on this one? I know there are a few other modules that have been for sale including living quarters and such. It would be great to see a review of all the modules and lack of modules.
Man I would love to tear down 2 of those turrets or make the guns slave to pilot control. Make bottom one tractor beam turret. Take out 2 beds and make room for kitchen and turn in to some sort of long range armored cargo ship.
This is by far ome of my favourite ships in the game, and the one that originally made me interested in star Citizen. The design is absolutely second to none, its one of the best looking ships in the game. Will i ever buy it tho, absolutely not. No pilot dps, requires was too much crew and the torpedoes are pretty useless against anything that moves or has a turret to shoot them down. If it could carry the a1's bombs that would make it way more useful, still fitting the bomber theme, 2 bombs in the front 2 torpedoes in the back and at least a couple pilot controlled guns. This thing would be an absolute beast
Not sure why, but I have a very hard time hitting anything with size 9s in 3.23. They either don't track, or get annihilated by turrets when they get close.
I like your videos but dude, you gotta slow down and take care of yourself. It seems to me like you give us a vid just about everyday (that might not be the case but it seems that way, lol) I just want all my fellow Tuberz to be and stay healthy! o7
The ship looks really cool but the lack of dps if soloing is not so good. And isnt the Corsair in the same price range or near it? If yes it would be a better purchase
I feel that as a pure gunship ignoring torpedoes, you're better off either with a Redeemer or a Hammerhead. And with torpedoes... there's not all that much to shoot them at right now.
I love these videos and they are super informative about which ships to buy. I do have a question though...if you buy ships with AUEC there is a chance you will loose those ships if they do a wipe BUT if you buy with real money you maintain that ship forever?
Correct, they’ve been trying their best to never let you lose in game ships even during wipes but there is always that chance. Ships bought with real money you will have forever.
@@EvenLease44 Yeah I am hoping the thought process at CIG is if we wipe ships A LOT of players will quit because it would be very difficult to buy them again. The prices of ships from 3.22 to 3.23 went up significantly and I am assuming they will continue to rise. Thanks for the response.
We did some xenothread missions with the retaliator and it was fun It feels like beeing on a submarine and a flying fortress at the same time. It is a good ship but I dont feel any love for it.
As others have said allready I want to love this ship but there is just to many issues with it right now per 3.23.1. Modules need insurance and alot lower price for this ship to be viable in my opinion. It's a nice bird to fly in though!
Love the 'Tali, she looks sleek and deadly and is increadibly versatile - But - why did they give it SIX landing gears? I think this is totally unnessecary and looks ridiculous! I'n mot buying the load distribution argument either when you have ships like the Hercules that manage perfectly well with only 3. If they chopped off, say, 2 of the gears, that would surely reclaim some useful internal ship space?
The front engines near the nose completely ruin the shape of the Retaliator for me. Without them it'd be a nice looking ship but with them, it really looks dumb, especially in VTOL mode. Of course, that's purely subjective.
only reson this ship never gonna be in my inventory is becouse of the moduls are way to exspensiv for that amount of money i can buy other ships that are more usefull this ship is a multicrew ship an not for solo players also it generate 100.000 auec for servel missions whan you have killed the bounty after refill of topedos this is what you earn after 45 min plenty of other ships that generate better income its military ship an build so to sneak in on taget 25 km away lounch your torpedo an run if they get to close
For a ship of this size, the number of turrets is ridiculous. Bring it down to 2 turrets and give the pilot a couple regular weapons. The Constellation is 10 meters shorter but is far bigger inside and has a far better usefulness, with a dining area, larger cargo bay, snub fighter, 2 turrets, Huge cockpit (too big). The Retaliator is one of my favorite ships in game but as a solo player, is nearly useless to me. Too much focus on turrets in a lot of CIGs designs. Turrets should be mostly on capital, frigate class ships and large cargo runners. Large to medium sized ships should never have 4 turrets, in my opinion. If I am teaming up with 5 or 6 friends, I'm taking something like a Hammerhead, Perseus or Galaxy, not a Retaliator.
On topic of the AI crewed guns: Are we prepared for all the "lawful" players that then get a CS due to AI gunners shooting without any restraint when civilians fly through the LOF? XD
That chin turret should be controllable by the pilot, just like the same turret in the Redeemer. Otherwise, love this ship to death, it's a permanent fixture in my fleet!
im already got rid of all 4 modular ships becouse no modules for ingame money and no LTI modules , compleetly wasted my time agan on CIG game agan and agan and agan wasted time ALWAYS.
I like the modular set up. (Gold standard pass) I like to run cargo bay in front and torps in back. But…. I have no reason to own this ship. Sooo it sits in my buy-backs. Lol 🫡o7🚀
