I'm bummed about it, but there are still a lot of cool features coming in 3.23 so it hasn't fully killed my excitement. I'd rather them wait and get it right then rush it in broken.
I love that cargo will be physicalized. It's a huge step. I just can't wait until every material in the game serves a purpose in crafting. Once crafting makes it in Cargo will become extremely valuable. For now, it's just a numbers game. But when it becomes crafting material then it will be useful and valuable. 😊
Baaaaad. It all sounds like hindering gameplay. Nothing of this enhance the gameplay, make it more fluid or even implement another fun little gameplayloop. It's all just hindrance of what could actualy be fun. To be honest, it make me doubt If CIG even understand what games are all about, what triggers fun, how to chain fun events into a game. It make it look Like they submited to those WHO want to have a SIM over a game. And just as a side note, I am a game developer myself. Well, time will tell how this will go. But for me it certainly is disheartening.
I know this type of content takes a lot of work but it's definitely my favorite format. The way you gather all relevant b-roll from old shows and presentations and put it all together in a cohesive in-depth approach, really works for me. Excellent work.
yeah I was so excited to come back for 3.23, read they pulled literally every thing I cared about for the patch, now I don't care again until it is lol
its just a few months bro; ya'll are like kids in the back seat during a road trip; "Are we there yet!?" smh.... chill. Touch grass, play another game.
Just wanted to appreciate your talent for editing, dude. I love watching this stuff, and you have a really great voice for it too! Excited to see what 3.23 and beyond brings, and also excited to see you cover it :)
None of u have watched RickKakis from destiny2 and my god he’s 1000x worse. Tbh bored isn’t too bad I drive with any news he has in the. Backround and that’s helpful for staying in the loop
CIG could avoid frustrating everyone with one simple method: stop overpromising and underdelivering. Stop giving dates you cannot fulfill, simple as that.
Unfortunately they have to contend with sharing the development as they promised they would and people generally ask for, and cutting communication and likely a lot of the community's interest. People need to do better at not seeing the "tentative roadmap" as promises. I try to highlight this in my videos, but it's up to us to recognize that feature may always run into a roadblock.
I'm really hoping that we get specialized boxes at some point to help with the physicalization. Something like a 2 SCU box that opens up into a small armory closet, or a 4 SCU box that opens up into a 2-suit armor stand. Stuff like that. It keeps things nice and organized and gives you the added bonus of being able to slightly customize the interior of your ship.
Looks like CIG wants us to use even more time on inventory!! What's the point with inventory consoles?? If they want realism, let us have clothing and suits hanging in closets, and guns in our apartments.....This is just me, but I think that this sucks! If CIG want realism, then go the whole way...not BS mechanics that just makes at least me waste more time and not really feeling like playing!
The Freight Elevator feature is THE feature I am waiting for. So obviously, I was disappointed for a moment when I heard it was pushed back to a patch release, but I do recognize that it is for the best. If even CIG says it is not ready from prime time yet, we better believe them 😁.
All of the changes sound great, but we’re really gonna need a good shake-up of prices if the hassle of loading/unloading tedious amounts of cargo for pocket change is to be justified.
The game gets more complexity, which is needed joyfully expected. Yet I'm question this manually freight (un)loading system for the player. Todays industrial freight movement systems usually have kind of a ground crew for the job, because it's way more efficient for everyone, when the truck/freighter/(space)ship or whatever can get back in motion as soon as possible, instead of avoidable binding the driver/crew in the (un)loading process. I would also expect this in a space delivery. Even more, with space ships in an industrial scale I would expect a kind of magnetic lock system or such a thing for stardardizes containers. Dropdown, (un)lock, take off within 2 minutes, that's how I imagine a futuristic, space-based, industrial delivery system, not the ship captains picking up boxes by hand or a handheld traktor beam and spending time for arranging boxes in a storage room.
Don't wait. 3.22 is pretty fun and mostly stable. 3.23 is going to have issues and a learning curve. Plus major ship price increases. Run some cargo or salvage, make some money, buy your favorite ship BEFORE 3.23 drops.
Has to be a balance between cool-factor complexity, fun and respect for people’s time. I work a lot of hours a week, so necessarily I’m a more casual player. Several times this week I’ve exited the game in frustration because it took me over an hour to get set up for something, only for something to go wrong (whatever it is), landing me in a hospital bed. I can tell already I’m only going to be doing local hauling missions in Stanton, and that’s fine.
The video is so good, it makes me want to believe this will be a real game some day. But after years of consistent disappointment, CIG is going to have to prove themselves this time. New features mean very little if the game is a buggy mess that most don’t want to play.
Cleanup should be done at stations and LZ since NPCs have the job of cleaning. Should not have dozens of hospital gown boxes all over at New Babbage. The place is too clean to let that happen. It should be an NPCs job to clean those up. Of course, we would not have that issue if CIG had not stripped our gear upon death. But if CIG wants to see a few dozen noob suit players in each lobby at stations, good for them. The only time I geared up in the last few years has been to do XT. Promptly lost all my gear on a couple runs when getting pushed off an elevator.
@@SpaceTomato old beat up guns wont be worth anything without crafting. Its easier and cheaper to steal, buy or loot. Nothing in game is a rare find either, fps wise. They have pin them selves in a box bc of the economy is so out of wack.
How will this reflect on time spent preparing before some real gameplay? Some of us have limited time during the day to play and two hours doesn't suffice even now but what will be in the future?
This cargo update is cool and all but it's just gonna make it that much more frustrating when you die or such due to the various bugs still in the game since you'll be taking longer to do anything. And then the people that already rage about getting pirated by the guy that spent 4 hours looking for some pirate content will rage even more since they now spend 20 minutes loading the cargo. Some ships still don't even function properly for it, like the carracks cargo doors
Of course this will require HUGE balance sweeps, because hauling will become WAY more dangerous, time-consuming, etc, but after some months playing (I didn't play for years, being an initial backer) I'm sure physicallized stuff is at the very core of WHY Star Citizen is such a diferent game.
Man, I'm off for several months, but with 3.23 I'm going back for sure. Finally it seems the game is coming together and the UX won't be a pita. Can't wait for the physicallyzed cargo to come online.
I wanted my hangar and to be able to call back any ground gear I lost that was purchased from the store. One delay after another when they state it's coming in X.XX build. So disappointing. I am looking forward to testing what is coming, that is if the servers don't crap on us. Then we'll see if 3.23 is another 3.18 all over again. My 2 cents, which is worth nothing to anyone but me and my PayPal. Edit: Thanks for the info, Tomato. Very good, to the point.
Problem of wanting to hit a specific date because of marketing. Predicting feature fall off was an easy win unfortunately. I am still hoping they grow up and deliver 3.23 when it is fully realized and stick up the middle finger to marketing. Just add those bloody invictus ships in a 3.22.x patch without anything else or postpone that imaginary holiday.
Ngl, the delayed stuff is the one I wish for the least so not bothered much. Besides it is (said to be) slated for 3.23.x so not like late 2024 or after
I dunno about "true" cargo hauling unless you just me physically moving things around like a dock worker :) The gold standard for an in-game economy is still Eve Online. While SC apparently doesn't want a player-based economy like that one, the sheer size of Eve's world plus the dynamic way it handles price shifts is far more "true". Elite Dangerous's econ is probably more like what I hope to see eventually in SC, but that requires a whole ton of addtional star sytems.
I just want the ability of someone on the bridge, whether the pilot or another station, to be able to see a manifest of what's on the ship cargo-wise. This is a huge blind spot in the current design.
I’m honestly concerned that this new system is going to really hurt the player experience. The frequency of dying to “features” in SC means that by adding time to get regeared and back into the verse will I think frustrate players. It will also add a lot more time to the “let me go pick this thing up real quick” moments, to a game that can already take a long time to get players organized in. While the system on paper sounds cool, I’m worried in the current state of the game it’s just going to be more of a pain than a benefit.
It won't be great when we can die by glitches and things, agreed. But they can't design these systems for that kind of game, when the majority of players will join AFTER the game is optimized. Absolutely the current state of the game will make certain things a pain
ya things that wont happen for years maybe but cant wait to enjoy the "massive" 3.23 update of a new ui and clouds with distro centers which tank your fps and a graphics api which doesnt improve anything untill lets all say it together "sometime in the future" 3.23 turned from a game changer into just the same old same old no new loops minor improvements to shiny graphics very disapointing tbh.
I've been robbing people with true cargo for weeks. Every C2 is worth 9.4 mil. It's so easy. You dress like an NPC at Picker's Fields or one of those place and wait for the player. After his purchase you just knock the player out and open the ramp and climb aboard your profit ship.
So CIG does not like players at all. Curious how we are to move guns from place to place if we can only carry 2 at a time on our backs. To move 6 of my guns, I would need to get 2 on my back at an item kiosk, then walk to my ship and place them into the racks. Then walk back to the item kiosk and get 2 more. Walk back to my ship and place them in the racks. Then walk back to the item kiosk and get 2 more. Walk back to my ship and place them in the racks. Doing suits and armor will be even more fun. Since much of the armor does not fit in backpacks, I would need to wear my armor from the item kiosk and walk to my ship. Strip naked in ship and walk back to the item kiosk to get more armor. Walk back to ship with next armor and strip off into suit locker. Then walk back to item kiosk naked again and get more armor. Equip that and walk back to my ship. Are all players going to be pushing large SCU boxes on dollys through the galleria and LZ to get gear? Should be interesting with all the stair cases and zig zag hallways. If I was on my home station I could use my personal hangar. But if I am away, I would only have item kiosks. If we get item kiosks that magically have all our gear in them at any hangar we magically spawn a ship out of the floor while away from our personal magic floor hangar, then what is the point of making it this tedious? "Can't have players magically transferring stuff from station to ship by hovering over the LZ. Players have to magically transfer stuff from a magic box, that holds the gear of an entire server in it, because that is more realistic."
There will be freight elevators in every hangar but the only one that persists will be at your home planet. The way it was shown in ISC was that you can call up things like guns and armor in boxes from the freight elevator in bulk for when you need to move a large number of them to a ship.
IRL armor is not exactly bulky like it is in game. You can carry a couple plate armor vests in a carry-on sized backpack. A extra large 3 day expedition bag could carry more than that and more gear stuff as well. As for guns, did you watch the matrix? You can sling quite a few around the body and still be able to use them. For carry, it would be quite easy to sling 3 per shoulder, a holster on each hip, and then carry a few in your hands. We can carry 3 total. I know why we cannot just carry a bunch of guns in the same manner in a game due to collision meshes and container boxes. But that is why many games allow "magic" inventory systems where you can carry as many items, like guns, as you want until you hit a carry capacity weight limit.
Just went and double checked, this is quoted wrong. CitizenCon 2953 - Day 1 Full Presentation - 33m 01s - Chris Roberts "A lot of - a lot of what you're going to see is going to be coming into Star Citizen over the next 12 months." We WON'T see everything at CitizenCon this year, but they seem to be on track to get a lot in for sure.
I dont know why they insist on slowing the game down. Why do I have to load the cargo myself. I have done that before in real life for a living. It is not a fun feature. Flying a space ship is fun, being a porter is not. I have been doing caterpillar trading for a long time, and the only thing this does is make it harder and in now way does it make the game more fun.
now they also need to start make shure smaller fighters cant take out a huge ship that size matters this is crap system to look at 1 ship take out the biggest i fear for the furture that people will be farmet heavy by small gang players in small ships lets say Hull E dont tell me a 1 fighter or 2 is able to take down the ships can take a ship like this down they need to make this alest 20 ships trying to break a taget like that or Orion also they need to changes regen on ship so they get alot more regen so it will take alest 10 min to take a Hull E out with 20 fighter or medium ships, Risk vs reward need work both ways they need to fix this for otherwise i am very very shure is not going to be a pleasen exprince for Cargo houlers to fly around or other bigger ships Size need to Matter. if not sell everything for a doller for whats the point to play the ships at bigger size sheilds an hull hp if you just can get gunnet down like it is now ???? they need to take care of this game loop Also they need to make you able to buy storge space on any Station or rent it if one home is not the best way to do this not if you are a daliy Trucker that fly from A to B i relly want to see a Video aboudt this Topic from CIG what they are saying-.
yes yes all the shit that was teased years ago, the game didnt change at all the last ten years, if i see a video from back then i think its a newer version with stuff i dont know, cause they removed and removed and removed stuff - redo redo redo redo redo dont add anything.. then get a 30k.. RoAd tO pYrO!!!!!
They are very open about how often things can be delayed. I think for most people it's good to not pay much attention until the game reaches a satisfying state. Sometimes people leave the company, are sick, have to work on something else, or run into last minute issues that can scew the entire workflow of a quarter. Sometimes it's avoidable, often times it's not. The devs have gotten on to a live video call to explain what happened and reiterate this is just about finished besides edge cases. I think they've done a good job handling the communication.
Hi. I love these short form videos. Have you ever considered separating them on a specific channel? To be frank I would love to stay subscribed, but podcast style videos that have multiple hours is not my style and it always makes me unsubscribe in some time.
It's not "monumental" it's stupid. I usually enjoy your content, but you have so many contradictions in this post I'm baffled. You say cargo is just box missions, but then say cargo is the backbone of SC - what? Prices don't matter? Have you ever taken a C2 on a 5 stop cargo run? Have you seen prices fluctuate just because you delivered a load.
THIS PATCH CHANGES NOTHING YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED IT CHANGES NOTHING HOW YOU PEOPLE TIME AND TIME AGAIN GET TOLD A UPDATE IS CHANGING SOMETHING WHEN ITS NOT IS AMAZING
