There is no word to describe the feelings I get when watching this video. Not only is it my favorite game but the speech and topic is more than just a game. It's a dream. A dream for humanity. From the pale blue dot to the wide galaxy.
lol, wrong, it is out and despite being out in parts ''only'' its still a game in what it has to offer right now. Nothing wrong to look forward to future builds as well :) A game is a way of activity engaged in for diversion or amusement, and it is amusing and diversion despite not being the final deal just yet.
Yes, I feel the same way. I hope this marks a return to regular ship commercials for not just concept ships, but for existing ships that are becoming flight ready and those that have been substantially reworked.
i want to play by just sitting there next to an off duty npc and watch space tv on a couch in my 890. and I hope there's plenty of commercials. is that weird?
Yeah, I have that same feeling. I 'only' have a 600i... But there's so much stuff in the back of that, if only it worked... Watching TV is one of the options, for sure. XD Oddly, the Captain's cabin doesn't appear to have anything akin to a TV itself... Also, only 2 chairs for the TV in the back feels a little off. (but then the 600i is full of a bunch of little issues) Especially since I have the touring variant which, arguably could have a crew complement of as much as 14, yet only 2 seats for the TV? XD
Even if you hate the real money for ships or you don't care about the ships at all, this is just epic. This is how you create lore and make everything have a connection to the game and not just be some random asset.
+Avocado That's the thing that's been grinding my gears for... God, it's years now, isn't it? Mouth breathers and the gaming media ragging on the paid ships. It has always been clearly and repeatedly stated that you buy them if you wish to support the game and its development. It's been made clear from the beginning that all the ships will be available with in-game currency and you wouldn't even be able to buy them with real money.
You buy the ships ingame(when they allow that), you also own ships if you steal them and make some ingame paperwork. Buying ships only gives them more money to dev. and you get some insurance, hangar, etc
They already announced the mechanic before but it's the first time they present how you will do it. And that's with the ship. The Pioneer it's not just a big transportation ship for the outpost materials but also it's like a fabric, it has robots that will build everything you need for your outposts.
Space Cowboy is right. Who else would you use to represent the frontier of space exploration than someone who reminds you of the old Western frontiers of yore?
Incredibly inspirational. For a game to attain such realism; to provoke emotional response is fascinating. I find myself fortunate to be counted among those sharing in the Star Citizen journey!
Dumb Comment sometimes they're necessary. It just depends on what you consider a lesser lifeform or culture worth saving. Would you eliminate bacteria to settle a planet?
@Chalk I think it's more accurate to say the UEE doesn't allow terraforming of planets with indigenous life, soas not to alter their evolutionary path. This isn't QUITE the same thing as not allowing colonization, however.
Dumb Comment there are more than enough non life bearing planets for our needs thanks to the extended jump range. since every raw material is "closer" and "easier" we need not exploit animal life anywhere
Consolidated Outland has so good speekers and commercials, this speech actualy is a inspiration for my presentations, the way hes talking and using words...just perfect
They will probably look at it with amusement at how strange our ambitions were, pretty much like we look at what 80s people had in mind for the future and laugh at the weird ideologies. We even begun laughing at 90s too.
The amount of effort that goes into just making little videos like this is just staggering. And to know that all that hard work is also being put into the game itself is absolutely breathtaking. Keep up the good work, guys!
I wish every cut scene in the game had this much focus and intensity. I think they tapped into some amazing acting without realizing it lol. I hope that they realize it.
As a proud backer of this game if anything I hope Star Citizen inspires it's players to contribute their imagination and drive to help humans reach the stars in real life.
I really hope that Consolidated Outland keeps going, it's by far and always have been my favorite ship company. I love the entire vibe. Keep up the good work CIG, I somehow feel this pres conference is in many ways how you've tackled your place on the gaming community. You guys and gals are the best, keep up the stellar work 🤠🤠 o7
Einstein is a magnet for falsely attributed quotes. The earliest known use of this phrase was published by Francis Phillip Wernig. However, we've seen how warped 'history' can become in several decades, so imagine how warped it could become in several centuries. Thus, this error fits into lore, IMO xD.
there are so many smart comments and I'm just here sitting and thinking that the crowd just cheer and stood up before they could give the thing a glance
Coming back to this years later still brings thoughts of adventure and wonder to my mind. CIG cannot wait to see how Outposts in general turn out the Pioneer (and hopefully other size of part constructors) turn out. Fly safe everyone!
"Whenever innovation has put technology in the hands of the people, it's heralded sweeping discoveries. Because power in the hands of many will always exceed the power of few" Man, I hope we retain that mentality in our future. That's just a good line in general and it's something you would want to hear from a CEO of a major tech/space company with a product to back up the statement.
Just wanted to say that you can hear the mustang commercial on speakers somewhere in port olisar. Not sure if it was a bug or something though because it was at the very end when I found it. If they could get it onto a tv screen in game though that would be really cool.
This guy is like the corporate version of Carl Sagan. Both of his commercials have been to promote a product but they also carry a deeper meaning behind them.
That makes me hope there will be an actual in-game event, should there be a ship announced after release (or within alpha or beta, if they have the time). That would be sooo awesome!
Love this video. So many people think he sounds like McConaughey, but I think he sounds more like a young Martin Sheen. Great voice actor, whoever he is.
I am here 3 years later eagerly awaiting more news on this ship. We are getting updates on colonies, now we just need the ship to build them for players.
I would love to see an ingame presentator speech during the ship expo at arcorp this year how awsome would it be to see a real performance live on a virtual stage in game. Im sure the are able to do it so Just Do IT! :)
Awesome commercial and take it for what it is, and graphics wise it looks like something they put together on short notice EXCEPT the script that the actor followed is just THAT GOOD!
What Chris Roberts and his team a Cloud Imperium are achieving is absolutely stupendous. David Braben and Frontier are doing an equally spectacular job - both companies being led by blokes who are driven by a dream and boy, oh boy! ... are we lucky to have the opportunity to join them in the endeavour. Astonishing stuff :0)
it was the only logic way, a ship who can build outposts... Chris stated last year they plan to do housing after they showed us planets 1.0. and i quote, "we have now enough real estate possibilities, so why not!"
From Argentina, Tank you for the amazing creation!!!! Every day we trust more of you. The only criticism is that there are no instances in South America to avoid having to play with such a high ping, but we understand that it is still in alpha and we trust that there will be instances in the future.
Let me just leave this here. Right now we are on the virge of 2021 a few minutes away and the Pioneer announced in 2017 still just in the imagination. 4 years later not even one wheel has been created about this ship. Oh wait we have others like the Hercules or the Kraken. Please get something going and stick to it!
The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. Those who walk alone are likely to find themselves in places no one has ever been before.
thats how they make their money. 7 yrs ago almost people parted with hundreds and hundreds for this ship and its nowhere to be seen as of april 2024, its not even in a reconcepting phase.
Its just crazy how almost 7 years ago people were lured in by this admitedly great and goose bumps inducing ad to part with hundreds of dolars and not seeing anything for their money for a long long time to come. I am writing this in April 2024 and i bet we won't see this ship in the game for at least another 2-3 years.
They sell dreams, not facts. They sell the idea of giving this ingame someday in the next 10 years, and people buy it. Smoke. Honestly, I think people should buy with their wallets and not with their hearts. They should buy when INGAME is available. The problem is people's mentality for supporting these practices with dollars.
