@@shotgunmcshotgun1142 sure! One version that cuts the emp and prisoner pot for missiles. That way you wont lose hardpoints. Next is a version that cuts the emp for a qed and the prisoner pot for powerplants. Next. Turn the prisoner pot into a small cargo grid (would make sense for bounty hunting rn). Imma add one extra. Remove emp and prisoner pot for more powerplants and coolers to add 2 additional guns.

back in the day this was probably my favorite ship. and.I did spam the EMP back when EMPs were amazing (think star citizen 3.14 maybe)

Struts are cool, sure they could be a little smaller but I agree. It's not really that bad. I've always said the Hawk just needed canons to be viable to really feel good because 6 weapon mounts really begs you to utilize that for huge alpha damage. It also just wasn't fair to the Hawk, or any ship for that matter, before when the only stat that actually mattered was speed/acceleration. EMPs need a serious overhaul because the issue with balancing them is once you stack them it doesn't really matter how weak they are in the initial burst. Like it only takes 3 EMPs to guarantee a shutdown, which is far less if you have distortion weapons. That makes 2 Hawks kinda insane since that's a really quick TTD if you both just land ideal EMP bursts and hit some distortion weapon shots. The second the EMP is really strong for the Hawk to use solo (which is what it's designed for) everyone would say it's OP as TTD is basically the same as TTK, especially right now when there isn't any reason to not kill your target after a disable. Of course in atmosphere EMPs will probably lead to death anyway as an powered off ship is just going to crash. EMPs need some serious attention from a design and implementation perspective.

The Hawk is my daily bounty ship. I take it up to VHRTs with little issue. 4 Dominance with M4As on the bottom Size 2s will eat it all in seconds. A few VHRTs can take a a few extra volleys, but it doesn't really struggle until ERTs. My biggest issue with the Hawk is that it loses guns easily in the rare occasion that I can't avoid enough fire, and it makes things a lot more difficult when you lose two size 2s

Flew a Hawk for the first time a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with it. I can see the Hawk easily becoming my bounty ship of choice for MRT and below.

Damn im glad to see the Hawk got some love in MM, ive also found that sub targetinf engines on largers ships ( freelancer and larger) when in a fighter really helps take them down faster. I think it forces more of the shots to land on a single shield face nd rhe obvious advantage of it can do much when it aint got engines haha

I LOVE the Hawk. By far one of my favorite fighters since you basically have the gladius with more firepower. I just wish we could get a version without the EMP and instead it has a few missiles. I will suggest using the boost a lot on the Hawk since you can basically sit in all of the blind spots

For all the trouble that the NPC 400i gave you, it'd be nice if the PC piloted 400i had the same manoeuvrability and durability. I was leaving a non-criminal/non-commercial site after a 1-box package dropoff, an aid shelter I think. I got interdicted by players in a Mantis and mk2 Hornet. I didn't feel like fighting, it'd be a bit of a pain to dogfight either a hornet in a 400i. If it had been a Vanguard, I'd be fine but light and medium fighters are not ideal. So I tried to run and hoped they would get bored. In was still in NAV-QT but I couldn't outrun the hornet. In a 400i. I could only increase distance while boosting and every time I had to recharge, the closed the distance. And they were able to get close enough to switch to SCM and damage my hull and shields before I pulled too far away. Eventually, I hit a point where I had taken enough damage that I knew they weren't giving up. So I turned and fought. We both got each other's shields down and hulls mostly red but he soft deathed me first. But then he stopped firing to board me. I had nothing in the ship to defend other than the looted armour and weapons I was wearing. So I stayed on the top deck and he ate a mag full of FS-9 ammo when he EVAed over. He alt-F4ed, causing his body to despawn immediately, so that I couldn't loot him and his mantis friend blew up my 400i before I could EVA out.

One thing that i’ve discovered about staggered firing mode, it’s fun but not ideal against small agile targets. On the small things you want as much damage at once when it connects. Against larger targets it’s better as you can ensure the consistent barrage of fire lands. But thats my 2 cents

I love the Hawk as well. But something I haven't tried is can you use the EMP to disable missiles launched at you?

Try out the F7A MkII next, the thing that I have noticed with it is that the weapons on it get disabled so fast.

It irritates me how with mm they gimped it. One of them main features of the hawk was its ability to chase virtually everything down. (Kinda necessary for a ship designed for bounty hunting). But now it is one of the slower fighters. It blows my mind how this ship of all things didn’t get the “intercepter tuning”. That, and the fact it has a rack that says “missiles” on the side but doesn’t get missiles lol

Hawk is my favorite fighter but mm really kinda neutered it. Used to run all my pvp bounties in it and play ac but it lost its superior straight line speed that made it a genuine threat. I hope they give it closer to interceptor tuning in the future

I loved the Hawk, before the EMP was nerfed into the ground and also hit the ship itself, and before master modes gave it a non-interceptor tuning. It was great at atmo, and did an amazing job for me in PvP by being a hit-and-run fighter good even against players of superior skill or in "better" ships. Now I'm just really sad because so much has been taken away.

I've tried the hawk and I like it's concept but I feel like the EMP generator is a flawed concept. I want EMP missiles instead. I'd use those in place of every other missile on all my ships purely for the amusement of remotely shutting them down while staying stealthed in my firebird 13km away.

The fact that its meant to hunt and take a prisoner alive and is paper thin feels like it should be interceptor tuned. Its a shame its not, seemed like its role is a bit off from its class. The EMP while small is designed for light fighters once you get their shields down and works well I have found. EMP Not much help if its medium ship and useless for large ships. Still my favorite ship with to fly around in. Again though, since its so fragile and only size 1-2 guns it should be fast, agile and or interceptor tuned to get out of combat to regen shields.

"fun factor" unfortunately doesn't work with SC's overall design, which is such a shame and a real huge problem for this game. This game has consequences to players and rewards griefers, so players are only going to gravitate towards meta. Weak/lesser ships lose, simple as that, losing in combat isn't "oh I had fun" it's "oh I just lost X amount of currency on insurance and replacing parts. "fun factor" cargo ship is inferior cargo space so therefor less profit and a lot of time wasted for little profit/benefit (IE: ironclad just made most cargo ships obsolete trash). Reality is with star cit so front and heavy loaded on consequences against players, come release time when bulk players are in no one is going to bat an eye at ships like the hawk and only focus on the meta and nothing else, because you get punished for everything in the game. Insurance, inefficiency, let's not forget the absolute joke that will be DOAS, so running anything less than meta = you don't have fun, lose and are lesser than everyone else. The hawk was an interesting ship when it first hit and I peeked at it, but everyone just brushed it off pretty much instantly because it's far lesser than meta ships so it gets no real attention lol. Sucks quite a few of the ships I actually like are in that kinda spot right now having fallen behind power creep of new ship designs and are outdated and really need updates or reworks.

If people wouldn't focus on meta, most of that problem won't disappear, but because you have creators so dead set on telling you what the meta is they practically set what life is in the verse. I fly a Sabre in pvp 90% of the time, which has clear disadvantages, but I win more often in that than I do in the "meta" garbage because I'm comfortable in it. If people focused more on "fly what you feel most comfortable in" over what's considered "meta" that problem would almost completely disappear.

@@OneNutSupreme That's the thing though, the problem won't disappear for multiple reasons including the very definition of meta, "most effective tactic available", and it's extremely sad to see. The core issues stem from the factor that meta by its very nature is mathematical at the base level when it comes to ship choice in this game. Meta ships are objectively superior to non meta ones, and while yeah you may like the sabre, and get wins a lot, but put yourself in a meta or vastly superior ship like a mk.II or w/e and how many MORE wins will you get? This is the problem and why average joe goes to meta, because it is objectively the superior easier choice for them to produce results. This issue gets multiplied so much more by what I said before about SC being so hell bent on consequences. The game is designed so you can't "just have fun", you WILL be punished for trying that going against players just running superior setups for whatever it is you are doing. You WILL get punished losing fights with insurance/replacement costs, you WILL be punished for running inferior cargo ships vs players running better ones with more space laughing at you while they make orders of magnitude more currency, you WILL be punished not running the best weaps in FPS pvp on the ground against players running "meta" and pay the consequences of that, compounded even further thanks to the idiotic DOAS concept they want to throw in that griefers are going to have a field day with. You are 100% absolutely spot on though content creators are the biggest contributor to the meta push problem in every game genre in recent times. No matter what game it is, it's always flood to whichever "popular" creator there is for the game and what they deem to be meta and that's what people flock to and all you see in mass in multiplayer games, FPS, MOBA, ARPG, whatever. Like for me, I very much love the Vanguard, but man has that ship just fallen behind the power creep in the current times and I really feel it these days. Go around in it and I literally have seen comments like "uh why aren't you using a hurricane if you want to ds heavy?", and I just shake my head seeing remarks like that. It'd be great if CIG took a few steps back and took a little time to get more ships closer together so the meta isn't so far ahead like it is right now on things.

While I love the hawk, it's unfortunately just a ship that just always lagged behind. 3.14 gave it such an awkward tuning that made it a hybrid interceptor/light fighter but with only the negatives of both and none of the positives. 3.23 tuning it into a "fat" light fighter was kind of nice, but the large cross section and low health just make it impossible for this thing to tango in a meta that already heavily favors medium fighters like the Hornet, or tanky heavy fighters like the F8C. I am hoping they retune it to be an interceptor, and maybe bump its firepower up to 6 size 2s.
