Star Citizen Ship Showcase - The Hornet Mk1, Saying Goodbye

Did a VHRT before heading to dead last night. Had the usual 4 ships, but thanks to being over a wreck site (and a bit of a glitch) I had 2 Valkyries, A Conni Andro, A Freelance MIS (I think), and a Reclaimer spawn too. I did it all in the F7A Mk2 (with an energy scatter gun build) was good fun.

The Lightstrikes are great for dealing with fighters but for VHRT you really one something more beefy like MxA. Flight characteristics between the Ghost and the Mk2 are identical except the Mk2 has more strafe.

I pledged a Hornet Tracker with Ironheart paint with store credit. I run it with three Panthers and keep the WillsOp radome (if you remove it, it will disappear from your inventory). Personally I like the looks of the Tracker the best because it has the nicer nose cone. Also the radome is especially cool with the Ironheart paint, which is silver gloss. On the Super Hornet the paint became matte and that just didn’t do it for me. I run the Tracker back to back with an Ironscale F7C Mk2 which has only two Rhino’s equipped (didn’t have time to get the F7A package anyway and the turrets are ugly), so dps is exactly the same. Less guns means longer bursts (about 5 seconds) which is good for my mediocre flight skills. I’ll run up to HRT for now, but I don’t think HRT’s with two Retaliators and an Ion are much fun. Especially for the meager payout. The hydrogen fuel burn rate is a confirmed bug I believe. I don’t seem to jive with the Sabre yet, although I like its looks. It takes the Ashcloud paint btw. But I’ll try it some more. Question, why the Lightstrikes and not the Panthers? Same ammo velocity I believe but they have less dps? They sound very cool! Cheers o7

my only issue is C.I.G is going to make the turrets for the mk I and the noise gun mounts limited stock in game for some dumb reason so I'm gonna just grab the super hornet ccu so il always have the turret and nose gun mount and il have lti on it.

I have the Wildfire and the Heartseeker versions. Might as well take the special versions. Which Head tracker do you use?

What happens when you melt the F7A MK2? Does they reissue the upgrade to you? Do you loose the upgrade forever if it is applied?

can't lie i love my F7A MK2 and I'll probably never get rid of it. why didn't you like yours?. I also did grab a normal mk1 and a ghost so i have those in buybacks.

Great way to create FOMO on a ship that CIG then gets to leave in a back room closet and not update or spend time on. Get the sales and remove a number of ships from the ship development teams need to give any more work to. Expect to see this kind of "legacy" move with other ships in the future is my bet.

I mean i like my F7A MkII but i would much rather have the F7A MkI right now...
