This video contains absolutely EVERYTHING you need to do to max out your Performance in Star Citizen. Just follow the steps and enjoy a smoother experience!
--IMPORTANT-- if you're only using 16GB of Memory, these settings may cause your game to crash, specially on resolutions higher than 1080p. StarCitizen can use over 24gb depending on your resolution and settings.
For the best performance and experience, please make sure you're on 32gb of memory or above before doing these changes as it will allow the game to use what it needs resource wise to maximise performance.
(It makes a huge difference).

--IMPORTANT PLEASE READ -- Guys, can't stress this enough, but if anyone is trying to run the game on 16gb of RAM, especially above 1080p resolution, don't be shocked if your game crashes. The game can and will use up to 24GB+ depending on settings and resolution. Simply put, 16gb is not enough for Star Citizen anymore if you plan on running above 1080p. These settings will still work for people at 1080p with 16gb, but you may have to adjust settings to lower your RAM usage to avoid crashes. The virtual memory pool is not there to compensate for this. Buy 32gb for Star Citizen. It will make a huge difference! ALSO, Check out Displate for amazing high quality metal canvas prints! @@Realdeal0321 Turn shader cache back to default as it uses physical memory. If it still crashes after that, you'll have to play around with the in game settings. Dude. I don't have the words to describe my gratitude. I'm running an i7 1100k and somehow fit a 3090 in my rig. For the past few months, I've been cringing at my monitor when playing this game. Upon booting up every day, It would take a good 3-5 minutes to stop violently stuttering. I'd only ever achieve 29fps on loaded areas and at all times stuttering followed me. Duuuuude. A Million Thank Yous. You didn't just fix my game, it's more like it was just perfectly optimized for my rig! It's an insanely different experience. I can fly in from space (100fps+) down to a starter city with 0 stuttering. 0! It smoothly loads things in and steadily FPS does decline but you don't notice! It's incredible. Did I mention when I boot the game I can just press y to get out of bed and instantly enjoy the game? No more crazy lag or unholy stutters and so on. One more Thank You! You really have transformed my experience on SC and I'm very greatful. I've subscribed to your yt to hopefully pay you back somehow.

i7-4790k CPU - GTX 970 4Gb - 16Gb Ram, and it helped! So thank you! Game is not crashing. I can see a big improvement, but my pc is very old so in some places I still drop to 18fps, but in more remote places I can have 40, 60, and even 90 fps, it depends. During bounty hunter missions and depending the location, I can have a decent stable 35 fps which is more than enough to enjoy with my system. Need a new pc though. If I have this type of results with my pc, I can clearly see that with an optimized and clean system, you can enjoy the game and have good fps with a recent, optimized, but not very expensive system. However, 32gb of ram is the way to go. Keeping in mind that in some places and at this stage of development, the game will drop your fps drastically, no matter the pc

@Valkie I don't recall exactly what you're referring to but if I remember correctly the registry fixes from this video just have to deal with how your operating system treats the game. I don't really see why there would be any downsides because the registry change is specific to the game I'm pretty sure. And if anything bad were to happen you can just revert to the default settings assuming you saved a log of your registry before making the changes, which you should do always before making any registry changes.

This is only for SC, and no, it will always remain this way unless you go in and change the registry and other settings again. You do not need to touch them otherwise. Tested when the patch came out, disabled everything then re-enabled, performance is still much better with all these changes applied. Overall performance in the game with the new 100 player cap is worse though, which is to be expected with a doubling of the player cap. Also noticed slightly higher frame times with the latest update. It's just whatever they did on their end but these changes still make a noticeable difference.

Small question, probably a stupid question, but I'm assuming some of these setting make the game priority while running for performance? The reason I ask is, I like to have a stream or something running at time while I play to pass the time while mining for instance, but my god, other than the game everything else is slowed down a lot. Curious if there's anything I can revert to correct that in specific? I ask because prior to following the guide I did not have these issues. That being said, the guide definitely made the game run significantly smoother, like fps isn't a big difference but a lot less hitching for sure, which is very nice. So thank you very much.
@VelvetDiamond
@VelvetDiamond Год назад
Some of the settings do set Cpu priority for the game but you shouldnt see any noticeable differences in other things open at all unless on a really low end an old pc. If it does, there isnt much you can do at that point and youll need to decide between Its either the game or the other. If that happens and its significantly slowing down other things then that tells you its time for a Cpu upgrade.

@VelvetDiamond
@VelvetDiamond 2 года назад
You'd make both. So once you do your StarCitizen.exe, you'd then repeat the process and make a folder called Discord.exe. Same steps, just create another folder inside the ImageFileExecutables. New Key = StarCitizen.exe - New Key = PerfOptions - Dword32bit = CpuPriorityClass and then set it to 3. Then do the same, inside ImageFileExecutables, new key = Discord.exe - new key = PerfOptions - then Dword32bit = CpuPriorityClass and also set that to 3.

After following this guide I started getting game crashes constantly. Look at the game logs and it said a SYSMEM error, couldn't allocate 2MB. Which is funny, because I have 32GB RAM and the game is barely using 16GB. Anyhow, had to return the Pagefile size back to "Managed by system" and the crashes have stopped. Also, looking at what size of pagefile the system is using atm while the game is running and a couple of background apps, it's almost 14GB. So, willingly limiting the pagefile to just 12GB is a bad idea. At least for Windows 11.

Excellent guide! I like that your changes focused on streamlining background processes as much as possible. Another tip that eliminated stutter for me: I'm running a 5800X, a 3070 and 32Gb RAM at 1440p and was having problems with stuttering. Went into my BIOS and disabled SMT (multithreading, Intel equivalent is hyperthreading) and haven't had a problem with stuttering since (other than during shader compilation when entering a new patch for the first time). If you're worried about performance in other applications you can use Process Lasso to disable it on a per application basis. I also set the shader cache in the Global tab but set the power and refresh rate settings in the Program tab under "Squadron 42 - Star Citizen". That way I'm not running full power to the GPU and GSync on the monitor unless Star Citizen is running.

Does the same guide work for AMD? Especially the part with graphic card setting could not be replicated. I am on Ryzen 3600 with 6600XT and 32GB RAM. Set page file as instructed, at the same location as the game (I presume) and I still experience stutters, both sound and movements with settings quality to High and rest to Medium. At Port Tresslar I would get stunning 80FPS, but the moment I leave the station, I experience a drop to 50 FPS and then at New Babbage the game drops to 24 and stays around that value no matter what. I just upgraded from my old rx570 which would generate similar FPS at the same location despite my current card beats 3060. I am kinda out of my league here :((

But I guess, it might also just be drivers being shitty.

Yeah if that is what you're using as a voice com system. Though it may not be necessary, its more of a precautionary measure.

I followed everything in the video and it helped a lot. But I'm also crashing to desktop every time I play now. I have 32 Gig of RAM and I play at 1080. My GPU is a 3070 and CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800x. I don't know what could be causing it. If anyone has similar problems and finds a fix, please let me know.

I'd also add to turn off Planet Volumetric Clouds, takes up more resources then it should. Hopefully once they actually get this game more optimized, we can enjoy the beauty of volumetric clouds lol

that has nothing to do with anything in this video. That means your account is corrupt, an cant retrieve data from the CIG servers. Most of us have had that bug at one point this patch so far. It took me 3 weeks for them to fix it for my account.

Two questions... In relation to the page file settings. Does it matter where the game is installed; or is it always for the main drive? And do the registry edit values apply to a 6 core cpu? Edit: I am also curious if these optimizations work on an install relating to Windows 11. Has anyone tried?
@ironman98
@ironman98 Год назад
Not sure on the CPU, but in the case of the page file, make sure it's on the same drive that the game is installed on. And make sure both of those things, the game and the page file, are installed on an SSD. Very important as the page file does not work well on an HDD. And neither does SC.

You do, you've just made a wrong turn somewhere. It is physically impossible not to have these settings. Just re do the instructions and double check your location in the registry with the top bar vs the video top bar.

I had something similar, luckely Windows did some automatic repair magic and it worked afterwards. You could first try it by running windows in the secure boot mode. That way only the most barebone programs are ran and any possible conflicts could be resolved. Another way would be to boot from a USB stick. I think there is actually a Windows repair tool which you can put on a USB device. If you type in "windows repair on usb stick" in your search engine you hopefully will find a guide which helps you do it.

Thanks for video but unfortunately I'm still only able to pull 14 fps max at A18 and about 23 in the black. Running on 11700k OC to 4.7. No overheat. 32GB DDR4 3600 XMP G1 Gig Z590 Rtx 3060 nv driver ver. 516.94 SSD Win 10 21H2 Raising and lowering graphics setting changes nothing at all for better or worse. Feels like I'm capped no matter what I do. Disabling HT gave about 2 fps, at this point I'll take it lol. No issues outside of SC. Are there other things I could check for?
@VelvetDiamond
@VelvetDiamond Год назад
Shamefully this is pretty much all you can really do. It's different for everyone, some people it helps drastically, seen some people get huge frame increases but some it doesn't help at all. There are just so many an too many variables when it comes to this game an frame rates. Maybe try turn your Shadows all the way down with the in game command "R_shadowspoolsize 64", could get you 5 to 10 more but it would make the game look a little washed out. Though I really do have to ask, what resolution are you attempting to play at? Wouldn't recommend going above 1080p with a 3060 in SC.

As asked by someone else but you did not reply. Could you explain why we do Allow telemetry part. Thanks
@VelvetDiamond
@VelvetDiamond Год назад
Because StarCitizen takes a performance impact from allowing windows telemetry reporting. Mainly an issue on Windows 11, but Its a known thing and was even acknowledged at one point by CIG. Turning it completely off in registry could save you quite a lot of fps in some cases.

This seemed to have helped but now my task manager is telling me Im using (sporadically) anywhere from 40% to 100%. is this okay?
@VelvetDiamond
@VelvetDiamond Год назад
Task Manager should not be used to measure CPU usage, it is NOT an accurate reflection, so yes this is okay. The game only uses a single core an thread still like most other games and will remain that way until they implement the Vulkan API.
