Have quoted the different characters' lines so many times over the years - Dr. Demento aired on WNOE-FM New Orleans in the 70's long before it went country, and I eventually worked at WNOE-AM. Still might have some cassette copies somewhere with my airchecks, etc. Wanted to listen to the Dr. Demento KraZiness all week long in high school! "We're takin' a shellackin' out here, Cap'n." - I still use this one every time we have a hurricane.

I have this on cassette from Dr. Demento. To this day I say ‘Ain’t I something!?” At opportune times. Especially at work! Great bit. Thank you for creating a video for it!

Holy crap. Talk about a flashback. When I was a kid I remember listening to this Star Trek spoof on my little clock radio in my bedroom at night on the Dr. Demento Show back in the mid-70's.

Man, haven't heard this since like 1983 or something. For the longest time, the "yyYYYYES, Captain Jerk" and "I'm Fine, how are you" quotes stuck with me. Nice hearing them again. X D

Thanks for puting this together. I remember when I first heard it Paramount was still working on the first Star Trek movie, and Dr. Dimento said something about how much it would cost Paramount to make a movie about this one. By the way I still say "I'm a doctor, not a script writer" when I see Dr.McCoy on Star Trek.

I remember hearing this on dr d back in the 70’s. I still use “negative space time wedgie” and other things from this in conversation. It’s brilliant.

I heard the audio for this on the Dr. Demento show in the 90s. I thought I would never hear it again!

An old friend introduced me to Dr. Dimento in the early 80's. He had it on reel to reel.

Before Dr. Demento, there was Dial-a-Joke and that's where I first heard this! That was about 1970.

Sweet! Even if the source clips aren't great quality, the editing work is actually pretty good! As I was born only a year before this dropped, I listened to this on the Dr. Demento show when it was in syndication in the late 1980s. Still nostalgic memories galore!

Damn, this wasn't the one I was looking for. I totally remember this one too, .but Dr Demento had another Trek spoof where they encounter a huge "space turkey" which they assume is about to attack the Enterprise and it says "I am an angel of the Lord-" right before they zap it with phasers.

I remember this from Dr. Demento in the 1970's.

I was in 10th grade in high school, living in the hinterlands of Washington state and listening to the Dr. Demento show Sunday nights on a staticky FM station broadcasting out of distant Seattle...it might have been KOL-FM. Catching this sort of stuff, when Top-40 ruled the AM band and way before FM went mainstream, was like going out of the way to watch Monty Python on PBS: You had to have a certain eclectic sense of humor to find and appreciate it which I guess most teenagers didn't have. I remember the next day in Band laughing with about the only other student in my Class-B school (average class size about 20 to 25 students) who knew who Dr. Demento was, over the "What's not there, Mr. Snot?" bits. (Another lost radio jewel of that era was the National Lampoon Comedy Hour.)

In 1975 Bobby Pickett (known for the 1962 hit song “Monster Mash”) recorded a novelty spoof on Star Trek called "Star Drek" with Peter Ferrara, which was played on Dr. Demento's radio show for many years. (In 1992 'misterdavep' added this video using two VHS VCRs, an old cassette tape recording from the Doctor Demento show, and a handful of Star Trek episodes recorded off the air.) Because the SNL Star Trek parody with John Belushi aired in 1976, "Star Drek" may be the first ST spoof ever made.

I am still looking for the one that there is a party going on. People are getting drunk. Spock is called Smock. Scotty is Snotty. The phone lines are busy. And the operated says the phone line is woozy. Lol

After The Monster Mash, this was dreadful, but kind of funny, in certain spots, as a big fan of STAR TREK, I was surprised just a bit of how it was put together

I can never make out what Lt Menura says. It’s something like “ the so and sos said we took a shellacking out here.” The lyrics I looked up say, “I dunno but it looks like we took a shellacking…”, but I think that’s wrong. Any ideas?
