www.gameanyone.com The Final Battle in the game. Instead of Andross being a brain, it's shield face has the resemblance of a bull. Video walkthroughs: www.gameanyone.com
I absolutely LOVE the idea of Andross having a creepy shape shifting head/mask/vessel/whatever I wish we saw more of it in Zero. Morphing into various disturbing alien shaped heads as he uses them against you in various different ways. Swiping at you with a wierd deformed giraffe head and scurrying after you with bug legs and the like.
Yeah, this game in particular always stuck with me visually and audio wise. The sfx and music were so freaking cool and looking back they take were ahead of their time.
the internet just currupted me bro, because now everytime i see andross i remember the "obey the walrus" video. This was one of my favorite boss battles of the game, but now everytime i see him i get shivers down my spine
Hmm...a few details interest me about this level. Andross' lair is vertical, so Fox is basically flying down towards the core of the planet. That also means the Face is facing up towards the sky. Also, the Face tilts a little before its features actually appear, I think that was a neat touch.
I still remember the very first time I played this boss fight. My jaw hit the floor when Andross revealed his "demon" form, and the first time I beat him I was literally on my last life, one hit away from death. I still consider beating Level 3 to be one of my greatest accomplishments as a gamer!
@@rehlar4088 Yeah, I also felt bad about the guy with the polio. And once I saw him for the first time, I'm actually felt weird about that video not until the documentary about it. He's a nice guy but what kind of monster ever put him in a video.
+TheNewEmphinix Old school games don't mess around. When it's time to fight a boss, you better be on your toes. If you lose, you have to start the whole game over again...no saving in this one.
This was one of the most cinematic final bosses I’ve ever played through, from the ominous score as your fly into the core to the battle itself to the fanfare and sense of relief at the end. Truly a masterpiece!
Back at those time, when starfox was a total hype. My older brother and me were fans of almost all 90's sci fi movies and series. When we reached andross for the first time, we said: It's Jobe from the lawnmower man. It's virtual reality!
"a 16-bit game having more advanced graphical capabilities than a 64-bit game???" - It's because a game like that in the SNES days had the Super FX chip.
I love that when you choose the hard path he says "Ah.. your choice of routes took me by suprise!!" Also, I would say it looks more like a devil more then a bull. Or something.
There's something just simply brilliant in this boss fight; the 'ding!' when the face is complete, the dramatic music before and immediately afterwards, the sounds of your blasters hitting its eyes... it's all so simple and exaggerated, but it's brilliant that way. All hail the classic games that paved the way!
Pepper: "You've chosen Course 3... a good choice to take Venom by surprise!!" Andross: "Ah.. your choice of routes took me by surprise!!" Robot Devil (Futurama): "Your lyrics lack subtlety. You can't just have your characters announce how they feel. That makes me feel angry!"
the original star fox is a masterpiece, including this final boss, sadly when they continued the saga started to use star fox 64 as a base for the rest of the saga, which is very disappointing....
According to Star Fox wiki, some Japanese materials suggest that both the SNES and N64 versions were two versions of the same events, and their timelines converge starting at Star Fox adventures. Interesting idea...
Why do you think so? To me, star fox snes and 64 are pretty much the same experience, but 64 upgraded it a lot, similar to Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3
Caio Leite I kinda prefer some of the simple but dark lore of this game. Something about the original Star Fox has more of a menacing presence when compared to other games. Most of all is that I think Star Fox on the SNES has such a kick-ass soundtrack. 64 to me is definitely greater in gameplay, but I lose a lot of the experience when playing because the soundtrack is pretty shitty with a couple exceptions.
I love how many people are complaining that starfox 64 was better. Without this, starfox 64 would have never existed. This is the SNES, people, this thing existed long before the N64 did. It's not going to be 'OMFGLOOKATDEMGRAFIX', and it's definitely not going to look better. But this game is a very special one. Never have I thrown so much time into completing a game.
can't say without this game starfox 64 would of never happened. that's like saying if it weren't for Thomas Edison we would not have light bulbs. someone else would of came along and invented it
This game was good, but SF64 was obviously better. It's not about just graphics, it's quality, story, and gameplay. Which makes SF64 not only better than this one, but one of the best games created of all time. I wont argue that this game is good, cause it is. But you have to see my point, haha. So just because pokemon gold and silver are not better than red blue and yellow? just because red blue and yellow were released before and cored the name Pokemon? Kinda what you're saying...
+Pewter the Cyber dog (Courage the Cowardly Dog) That's pretty flawed logic. Just because something does it first doesn't always mean it's better than what comes after. That's how a sequel is supposed to be. Look at Super Mario. The first game did so much for gaming as a whole...but that doesn't change the fact that Mario 3 and World are much better. As for Star Fox, I feel that 64 is the better game myself. SF64 was the first one that I played (and that factors in pretty big, admittedly), and while I do think this one has a unique atmosphere to it (not to mention it's just really impressive for a 16-bit console game) but that still doesn't change that, both on a personal and objective level, there are just things that SF64 does better, making it an arguably better game as a result.
***** Ok, now this is getting out of hand. You are right that Star Fox Adventures was made by Rare, and that's true. As Adventures is the only one made by Rare, while Namco had Assault. But they guy who insulted you didn't have to be such a bully about it. This is a friendly channel, not for fighting.
When I was a kid in like, ‘92 or ‘93 (whenever this came out), I remember seeing clips of this exact scene on a commercial for the game, and I went “OH MY GOD. LOOK AT THOSE GRAPHICS!” Seems silly now. I still love, worship, and adore this game though.
Wow, you made that look really easy! I've never played all of the original Star Fox Game, but I remember fighting Andross in Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars, and that was pretty tricky!
I couldn’t beat this back in 93 as a kid but just beat it tonight on my Switch for the first time. I beat SF64 a handful of times but never this. Hell of an accomplishment better later than never I guess. Lol.
It depends on the last planet you do right before venom, if you end at the alternative base (not the cubic one), the Flight on venom will be much shorter, and right before going in to fight andross, you'll be against the Star Wolf team, then after defeating andross as usual, the fight against him in brain form starts. Also, this is the "right" path because at the end of the credits, andross' face doesn't appear in the sun, laughing, when you beat it this way.
Yeah, I would. Most games on the SNES at that time were side-scrollers or top-downs. This was arguably the first, or at least the BEST 3D game at the time, and it was huge. The game was long and detailed, the levels were expansive and varied, and of course, the boss battles were epic.
If there is one thing I'm happy about, it's that I was born in the perfect generation of games :) My childhood consisted of the best games in the world :D
There were a few, but the first game ever to use polygon graphics was I, Robot, an arcade game from 1983. Star Fox pioneered 3D graphics on CONSOLES though, so it was quite revolutionary on its own right.
@FranCastell87 I know what you mean. I played Star Fox 2 years ago. Never thought that the same concept of that game not being released neither in Japan or worldwide because it was cancelled ended up in Star Fox Command.
