if you can beat every Megaman from 1 to 11 without cheating (using savestates, rewind features or farming for extra lives) you are ready to face any challenge life might present to you
First time I ever beat Mega Man without cheating or savestates I got to the final boss with 1 hp and 1 life left. I beat Wily without taking a hit. I had practiced this boss many times using savestates earlier. I used Fire Man's weapon on first form. Cut Man's weapon on second form. I actually find the first form harder to dodge. The second form I just walk towards Wily when he shoots, the white ball usually just goes over Mega Man's head.
I've always felt the sound design of the first Mega Man was good. When Mega Man is damaged, it actually sounds like something breaks instead of the soft "THUD" of later games.
Mega man 1 is the only game I could NOT beat Why? This boss. It took me 2 hours to get past the first phase Then I could get past the first phase each time,But The second phase.......oh I could not for the life of me beat the second phase,And after an hour I gave up
Bongo Bongo 90% of megaman is trial and error, took me 3 days to beat it (playin randomly throughout the day) and i got my butt kicked, now i can beat it no damage
The series was almost cancelled after this game. The team behind the series didn't really know what they were doing until the second game. This game is pretty bad...it's a textbook example of bad game design. Horrible controls. Horrible hit detection. Fake difficulty all over the place to make it look longer than it actually is. It was not a success at all either. The team begged for another chance, the series only got popular because 2 was so much better. Beating this game didn't feel like an accomplishment. It felt like I exploited a glitch. The only saving graces of the first game were graphics (very good for the time, remember it came out shortly after Metroid which looked far more primitive), and music (VERY good by 8-bit standards).
