Congrats to her. Why does the media hype these stories, I've always wondered why do they apply to so many schools? It's not like they are terrible students or you get cool points for applying to as many schools as you can afford. When I did applications it was 5 schools (top choice and few backups) and not a shot gun approach. College applications, essays, and meeting with alumn for interviews was a time consuming and expensive process. I couldn't imagine doing it 100+ times. Also, it's not like you can combine all of those financial aid packages either so $14 mil in aid makes no sense. That's like applying to several mortgage companies and claiming you're approved for a $15 million home loan. The best you could hope for is to go to school for free with and additional money to cover miscellaneous expenses.
