The end is a prime reason why starships should have seatbelts

kelvin timeline ships do have seatbelts, prime universe rarely did lol

What they need to do is put the fold-down leg and thigh restraints the first movie Enterprise had back on the seats. I’m unclear as to why they got rid of them in the first place.

Discovery, late 2100s: Squirt some of that ice with phasers and we can tank planetary impacts like absolute CHADS Voyager, late 2300s: We can land...but only if the structural fields work properly, the inertial dampeners are at full power, and we come in extremely carefully using this ship specially designed for planetary landings

Glad we are in agreement there.. Also blasting through a large chunk of rock? Preeeeetty sure the saucer should have suffered extensive damage at that point. Discovery couldn't have had much of anything for shields, especially after the pounding it took from the fight just before entering the worm hole, no way in heck it had the shielding to blast through rock. :/

@@tifreak8x Considering the rock is floating, yet the planet is pulling on Discovery. The rock couldn't be very dense.
@tifreak8x
@tifreak8x Год назад
You.. You do know what an orbit is, right? And the fact that Discovery was ejected out of an unstable temporal worm-hole at an unknown velocity, with potentially thrusters or even impulse engines locked in an on state pushing the ship forward? Looking over the video, the chunk of rock was clearly a part of the planet's surface, which would make it plenty dense to cause severe hull damage upon impact. That's ignoring the fact that this is a fictional show..
@augustjsb
@augustjsb 11 месяцев назад
@@tifreak8x All the floats rocks aren't in orbit. In face some only seen to be a few thousand feet in the air. If they were locked on. They could have stopped falling considering she gets minimum control back. Lots of thing exist on the same planet that have different density. Going to go out on a limb and say something hit rhe planet to cause the rocks to be thrown in the air. Yet they aren't immediately falling back. It is a fictional show meaning you can't tell me my explanation was inaccurate

First half of the 3rd season was honestly amazing. I'm not sure what happened in the 2nd half. Suddenly tons of plot holes started to pop-up and my god the episodes started to get rushed af. The 4th season is getting tons of hate but it was perfect. So trekkie and nothing rushed! ^^ Still michael focused though but it was so much less. DSC ain't perfect but entertainment for sure! :)

If I knew I was crashing with no seatbelts I think I’d have lay flat on the floor vs being thrown head over heels off my chair and over some control panel.

Inertial dampers are programmed to counteract directed motion from command and control systems. This is why impacts or weapons strikes toss everyone around.

Crash land on an ice planet after being thrown out of some space tunnel? So they didn't even try to change a few major details in this scenario, since Voyager was kicked out of a slipstream tunnel and crash landed on an ice planet? Even the slide along the surface and the camera angles looked liked a direct copy from the Voyager episode... gosh, how cheap. The asteroids they hit do not change a lot... Do they even have male crewmen on the bridge, aside from the Captain? Are they even allowed to speak?
