Greetings!
My name is Jeremy. I'm a composer. I've always had a great ear for music. Sometimes I get bored and like to challenge myself. I wanted to see if I could re-create Jerry Goldsmith's wonderful opening piece for Star Trek First Contact using nothing but my laptop, Finale 2012, some CineBrass and CineSymphonyLITE samples and my ear (listened to a track SEVERAL times). This was the result! How did I do? Let me know and enjoy!
PS - I've been a long time Jerry Goldsmith fan! RIP Jerry. Only Finale 2012 was used for playback.

I do love it when people like yourselves attempt transcriptions of full scores. Sounds pretty darn good to me. You should the sheets available to people.

Thanks! I love doing transcriptions. I've been working on an Alan Silvestri score. It's kicking my butt because of the complexity. I'm getting through it. I've thought about making them available, but I would not want to break any copyright rules.

I look forward to hearing more Goldsmith orchestral transcriptions ... Powder, Matinee, Gremlins, Hoosiers etc. etc. there are so many great ones to choose from.

Yes! I have an idea or two if I can get past the one I am currently working on. I also want to do a John Powell piece and a Danny Elfman piece. I even have a nice choir patch for those oos and ahs he loves so much LOL!

thanks! I'm a big a fan of Cinesamples. Really high quality sounds. Easy-ish to work with inside notation software.

Now if only you could do synthesia with this so we could learn to play it on piano for those of us who cant read music but hear it and can play by ear

Michael Vallez It's for orchestra. It would have to be modified for Band.

Thanks! And I'll consider it. I generally don't share the scores because I don't technically own them. This is just my attempt to see how close I can get just using my ear and orchestration skills.

superbe Jeremy! (perfect) except perhaps the note (G4?) note from Horn#1 at 0.33' is on octave too high isn't? and this Horn must be doubled with viola at 0.52.. so and so Bravissimo!

+cyrus-music.com Thanks for the compliment and feedback :) I think that high horn note is there in the original recording, but it is much softer, dominated by the horn that goes to root.
