You are not alone. The ST:TOS theme was the recessional music at a friend's funeral in 2015; it was deeply moving, and I often think I should arrange for the same (with the Voyager theme for the prelude).
I don't know how you made this sound so good doing it remotely, but kudos to every single one of you! I can't even master the triangle, so I have the upmost respect for you all.
I watched Star Trek when I was a kid in the 60's and I've listened to this music ever since. These wonderfully talented musicians brought that music, the music that I love so much, to life. Their performance was simply wonderful! My thanks to everyone! I keep listening to this over, and over again, and it is bringing tears of joy to my eyes, it fills my heart, and it lifts my spirit.
Bravo to everyone who contributed to this work; you should all be justly and fully proud of the results. You brought tears to this old trekkie's eyes! Again, thank you one and all!
My first thought was, ah... movie medly... then DS9 showed up so I expected TNG and Voyager and perhaps Enterprise. While the performaces were amazing, the selection has be baffled.
Wow!!! Found your Medley just now...AMAZING!!! It shivers down the spine! Must play it on my HIFI next opportunity! So amazing!!! Thank you for this over the top performance!!! Greetings from Germany and stay healthy!
I cannot imagine how difficult it was to make all this happen, but I am so grateful to you all. This brought tears to my eyes, not jsut because it was so beautiful, but also because in these troubled times when we have had to distance ourselves form once another, I am so moved by the desire to create art that embodies the ethos of Star Trek, that we humans are capable of nobility and grace, even when things are at their worst. And lastly as someone who watched Star Trek The Original Series as a kid on NBC from 1966-1969, it fills my heart that Gene Roddenberry's philosophy and artistry is being taken up by generations who were not even born when all this started. Again, thank you. Live long and proper!
Wow I didn't expect that! how the hell did you do it? And missing a full horn , brass and tuba section too. The horn was particularly good, full rich sound like a full section. It was like I was in the movies. Really blew me away. Wonderful. Terrific arrangement. Edit / additional comments: I have watched this 15x and everytime I am blown away as I appreciate more and more the talent of everyone involved. The Video work was monumental and made the single instruments sound like a full section. The violins with their high speed fingers was brilliant, gorgeous. Trumpet was a standout. The horn was from Hollywood for sure, gorgeous tone like the best ever, Trombone had that deep raspy bass. Flute was wonderful - I mean, I could go on and on as I am drawn to this piece like a magnet. The composer / arranger did an excellent job - made it work. What can I say? You guys should be on America's got talent - and take first place without question.
THIS! OMG THIS! In my country we have a saying…”this is the absolute dogs bollocks”. It’s a powerful way of saying something is good in the vernacular. And it pertains to this video! Most emphatically. I’m sharing the hell out of this where I can. And very well done, to all who participated.
What an absolutely beautiful arrangement and performance. As for what else you could have added, definitely Voyager. I also like Michael Giacchino’s theme for the Kelvin timeline movies. For me, nothing tops James Horner’s theme for Wrath of Khan - it is sweeping, grand and moving, and it has the best integration of Alexander Courage’s original theme. You all played it magnificently.
Almost a decade ago, my girlfriend took me to Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses. When the theme of the "Dark World" came on, I couldn't help but squeal towards her "They're doing it, they're doing it!!!", but very quietly. While I wished it had Voyager and other themes, gosh. This is an AMAZING accomplishment. Proof that when humanity has its back against the wall, it shines through.
I just came from giving up listening to the 'Star Trek Day' offering and saw your video, so thought would listen, with no high hopes, but you (collective-ly) were fantastic, you saved my evening, and so nice to hear a new arrangement. and that little incidental piece, brilliant, the technical difficulties involved..the only thing missing was the applause, I honestly was smiling, do another, make it so :-D
Absolutely STUNNING!!!!! Truly out-of-this-world!!!! All of the members of this wonderful group need to be strongly applauded!!! Well done!!!! Thank you so much!
This is Emotional and Amazing ... thank you to each and everyone of you... from a long time Trekkie from when it started ... this has Truly made me cry ... xx ..
This is great! At the same time, I found myself wanting to hear bad acoustics, to make it sound as real as possible, like a genuine battle against the odds, a unique sound you cannot hear in a concert hall. Still loved it though!
this was Excellent!! I remember going to the theater for each one of the movies and when spock died at the end of II there were people balling hard. the music brings back so many memories
Where I live. we spell it "bawling", but I know what you meant. The first time I saw that scene...omg, I was absolutely demolished...I'm glad I was with a close friend who understood, and whom I could trust not to rat me out to our boss for crying at a movie.
Que bom encontrar um conterrâneo. Também sou de São José dos Campos. Muito boa a apresentação. Sou um fã de jornadas nas estrelas desde criança e acompanho tudo que tem à ver com o universo star trek.
Bravo!! So well done. Sounds just as professional as the original Hollywood scores. Thanks and congrats! I was happy to see Bill Shatner make it up into space. I look forward to the day when many, many more of us get the chance to make that trip up to visit the final frontier. Live long and prosper.
Friday, January 20, 2023 Wow, this video is soooo well done! 😀 It must have been a huge, complex, juggling project to coordinate so many musicians, and then edit all the individual videos into this splendid combined video. I wish everyone a happy and productive January of 2023, as we step into The New Year! 😀 .
