Prodigy is facing an uphill battle. Season 2 was completed and then canceled by Paramount+ before they could release it. It took a grassroots effort by fans to save the show and have Netflix agree to pick it up and release the (already completed) season. Now we have less than a month to prove to Netflix that Prodigy deserves to continue. Netflix has the rights to order a season 3, but only if the engagement and viewership proves that it’s a worthwhile venture for them since buying the rights to an already completed season is far cheaper than funding the production of an entirely new season. So with all that in mind it is really disheartening to hear you say you didn’t like the show and are openly promoting that you’re not going to watch it when it matters the most for the show to survive going forward. Obviously taste is subjective and you can’t be forced to enjoy something you don’t like, but given how much is riding on this show being able to continue videos like this are demoralizing, disheartening, and defeating for the fans who are desperately trying to get engagement up and want this show because it DOES resonate with THEM.
I never finished Season 1 of Prodigy. But Season 2 was pretty good! The plot is an intelligent time-travel plot with non-obvious twists and turns. I think a few plot opportunities were missed (like having some characters experience the events in different order), but it’s not too shabby.
Ok, so maybe it's not that. Having watched your video, it's probably because your Trek tastes are individual to yourself. Most of the more mature audience seem to enjoy the "golden age" of Star Trek when three shows ran back to back and all obeyed the canon. They seemed to have flavours for all tastes and enough to satisfy the majority. Even if you loved to hate some of the decisions in them. Did Janeway make the wrong call? Is Sisko up to this job? I think if you enjoy most of Nu Trek then that could be where your inner conflict is coming from. Prodigy is the only show still truly trying to link to the past and respecting that continuity, from what I understand. But what do I know? I don't even watch the show!
I tried watching the first half of ST Prodigy but the annoying, obnoxious; know-it-all main character was too much to handle. All the other characters were acceptable.
