When the Titan scans the Shrike, it identifies it as multiple ships from multiple factions. I think it is made from parts from multiple ships and that actually is a Galaxy class deflector dish and secondary hull.
Honestly makes sense, at one point in the war the Dominion wanted to pull back to the border and rebuild its forces so creating a whole new ship design to better deal with Federation Alliance ships even if it takes a few years is right up the Dominions alley, The Dominion thinks years ahead and the Shrike could have easily been in development during the war.
Maybe the Shrike was a Top Secret Prototype ship that the Dominion was in the process of constructing that combined the Technologies of their allies, but never finished and the Prototype was just sitting there at the Top Secret Dominion Shipyard that was building this thing and Vadek being a Founder had previ. to this knowledge of this Top Secret Shipyard and went to call upon this deadly ship.
I always felt the Shrike was Reman in its design elements. Has a similar spread wing appearance to the Scimitar and would have been psychologically damaging to Picard for not only his unwilling role the incident with Shinzon but also the loss of Romulus and Remus when their sun went supernova. Rikers line about the Shrike being a guillotine mirrors Picards line about the Scimitar being a predator ad well. Meanwhile the inclusion of Dominion displays and weapons of the Dominion allies still fits the fact that the technology was procured via Dominion allies.
Did you not pay attention to the fact that these Changeling are now different due to experimentation? It is mentioned quite often, so not sure how you missed it.
Got a theoretical idea for a video, Shrike Vs Scimitar. Both antagonist ships had the protagonists where they could have blown them away but didn't. These ships are superior to the Sovereign or Neo Constitution. What if these ships went head to head. Both ships not holding punches and full on everything they have trying to destroy each other. Who would more than likely be the victor on a level, open space no advantage playing field. Advantage not present being e.g. planets, asteroids, interfering ships to be thrown around. Just like two ships on the line battling it out to final victory.
There was a Romulan fighter in the PS2 game "Star Trek: Shattered Universe" which featured a similar 4 wing forward prong design as seen on the Shrike in Picard. Funny enough, this fighter was also named "Shrike"
Easily the Son'a could do it. Vadic may have taken the place of a higher up official to get the project fast tracked and the armament increased. It isn't hard to imagine how it happened.
There's an error in this. Part of the experiments on the Changelings included nanites acquired from Picard body (also at Daystrum). This is how they escaped, with the help of the Borg queen. It's also what gave her power over them. That's the point of using the hand to communicate.
@jamiebraswell5520 Some interview or something. i don't know anymore. Should've asked me last year. something about them trying to make a perfect weapon out of the changelings. A weapon that is effective against their greatest enemy the borg.
Vadek was brilliant, I don't know the actresses name although I do recognise her but WOW didn't she do well, I loved everything about her, the ship, them being changelings, right up untill it was suddenly the borg that season was fire imo.....
She was in pulp fiction. She had an appearance in battlestar galactica as well . She has been around since the 90s . Her father was an academy award winner and a legendary character actor
When I first saw it it made me compare it to the Simitarn used in Star Trek: Nemesis! I'd love to see those 2 slug it out! They both look scary enough! Glad to hear you again Adam! Imagine in your head BOTH taking on a few IST 2's in another universe! 😉
that central pronged section on the main hull, with the curving insert chamfered to a sharp edge looks reminiscent of a Ferengi marauder's forward section, but taken to an extreme, and the hull and glow colours are also very Ferengi. It feels entirely suitable to me that Ferengi engineers may have been behind a ship built from the collective technologies of multiple species; especially those of Dominion and Dominion-allied forces.
I always assumed that the Shrike had been created by Section 31, using aspects of technology from various species/factions (including the Borg) - hence the different types of weapons. Its non-Starfleet/Federation design being a deliberate attempt to disguise who created it. I thought that the forward-swept "prongs" were part of the quantum tunnelling design... so maybe that technology was designed for this ship.
The Shrike's hull does look like Sona ship material and somewhat shape. I believe they may have used structure from old Jem'Hadar ships like the cruiser for the fork piece in the center. However also looks like the deflector could be starfleet. And it has the openness of the wings almost like a D'Deridex and the size of the Schimitar. Like they took parts and ideas of old destroyed but formidable ships and made it into one big badass
Shrike deserves more credit than Scimitar. She has every non-conventional weapon technology on her board;all in one ship and can't wait to get it from the event campaign in STO.
I have noted the similiar style between the Shrike and the Son'a ships before while looking at my Eaglemoss Son'a models and magazines. I think that the Shrike may have been an initial Son'a design, but with lots of changes added by Vadic as it was being built. Wherever or whoever built the thing, more than likely the Son'a, I feel like Vadic infiltrated the project and took on the form of a higher up official to get the ship completed, beefing up the weapons armory quite a bit. It makes sense that the banned subspace weapons came directly from the Son'a. That is how I choose to view it.
Have you looked into the new shield affects it looks like a combination of shields ,polarizing the hull and ablative armor to dissipate the energy used against the ship.
Considering the devious (and somewhat immoral) schemes that Section 31 has pulled in the past, I think it entirely possible that the Shrike may have been a top secret experimental vessel that the Federation's supers-pies created. With technology and parts harvested from alien wreckage from the Dominion war and adapted into a ship that no one would ever mistake for a Starfleet vessel. This would likely have required Section 31 to find Dominion defectors to help design and build the Shrike. The prison breaking shape-shifters may have commandeered the Shrike in their escape.
Well by the 25th century, the Dominion's stance on the federation is a tentative truce with Odo pushing them more towards a peaceful defensive form of xenophobia as opposed to their previous aggressive stance. The Dominion is still the Dominion, but they have more of a you keep to your side of the fence, I'll stay on mine approach to everyone around them. Which means Vadic would of been welcomed back with open arms but wouldn't of seen any open support by the Dominion, so Vadic wouldn't of found allies there, as was said in the video, it would of caused a schism, on one side you'd have Odo's faction and in the other Vadic's faction and since Changelings NEVER harm other Changelings and the Dominion slave races are loyal to only the Founders; Vadic would of found little more than a few other Changlings support and the approval to do as they wished by the Founders but no actual military support from the Founders. So instead Vadic stayed in the Alpha Quadrant and sort out a ship which was likely secretly built by the Dominion near the end of the war using parts and components cobbled together from allies and salvaged ships as likely a last bid attempt to win the war when they were cut off from the Gamma Quadrant; The Shrike fits that MO, a secret war winning super weapon that was never deployed in time due to the sudden unexpected Cardassian rebellion. It was likely constructed by the Son'a and the Breen.
This is my Independence Class Starship Enterprise weapons and backstory -30 phaser banks - 4 Photon torpedo launchers (each carry 3,000 torpedoes) - 34 type 7a phaser turrets - 2 quantum torpedo launchers (each carry 500 torpedoes) - sybonnic torpedo launchers (each carry 60 torpedoes) - 2 positron cannons - 8 phaser emitters - Primary, secondary and third shields - Warp 60 cruise speed - Warp 120 max Speed - 2.5 Miles long - 0.75 miles width - Tactical Intergalactic explorer Like this because war with the galactic empire
Just an over weaponized ship, still the portal weapon use was interested. But we wont see portal technology again - destine to be an unused forgettable writer trope.
@@jamiebraswell5520 Nah just stating the obvious - if the only way to introduce a threat is size then it becomes boring and obvious - it's just an example of bad writting and lack of creativity.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and executed and informatively explained in every detail way shape and form provided on this format and subject matter on the Shrike Starship vessel and it's design specifications and all of it's capabilities and various different weapons and there functions and useages of and amount of weapons available and shields and warp capabilitie and all of Her various other capabilities and so forth and so on indeed guys, A job very nicely well done and executed indeed Sir!,👌.
I have always thought the Sona ships were the most artistic and best looking of all the ships of the franchise. Just personal aesthetics. Still that crescent ship is impressive.
They are actually very unique designs for Star Trek. I did not really appreciate them enough until getting the beautiful Eaglemoss models and the informative magazines. I think the ships suffered onscreen in Insurrection due to being CGI and being poorly used. We just never got a good feel for them, I guess due their positioning and the angle of the shots being uninteresting.
The shrike was cool. Only thing I really didn't like was Vadic's communication with the Borg Queen they could've accomplished the same effect without having to cut off her hand. That seemed stupid.
Trek's tech level is officially above Star Wars now. Star Wars has always been seen as the stronger tech since it had Star Destroyers, Death Stars and Hyperdrive, but Trek now has portal guns, not just Planet but System killers, and drives faster than Hyperdrive. And Star Destroyers are just big but everything it can do, a smaller ship can still do, and the Trek ships are just more mobile.
@Brockyman - I was thinking the Narada and/or Breen ships. But if we're going with B5, I would say more Shadow than Vorlon, or maybe a mix? Shadow shape, Vorlon skin?
When you say "not that one" about Michael Myers, I'm unsure if you're saying it wasn't Wayne from Wayne's World, or that it wasn't the hero of the Halloween movie franchise... Whichever way around you meant that to be taken... is it the other one?
They should have kept that sweet looking ship an use it as a battle cruiser .... Just upgrade it with some Borgue Tech .... It reminds me of a bit Shadow Ship from Babylon 5 a very Underrated Sci-Fy Show .....
Again bad writing, The shrike was worthy of taking on two or more SF cruisers easily yet hardly does anything. The tired trope of SF ships being near useless and out gunned and using some sort of spacial mechanic to destroy, damage or escape the big bad.
That is basically writing. Set the protagonist on a weaker footing than the antagonist, and let them think their way out of the situation. If the protagonist is is the stronger of the two, the conflict is reduced.
@@ChristopherSloane Romulan Warbird from TOS, The Reliant from Wrath of Kahn, The Breen and Dominion, The Defiant, The Scimitar, The Nerada, and the Shrike. Did I miss any?
@@gmradio2436 Right? It just seems stupid that the UFP or star Fleet which is supposed to be technologically superior in many ways but of course not perfect seems to fail at making decent ships. They know conflict is consistent yet fail to design a ship that is superior or cutting edge to engage said threats. There is no real excuse, there is a myriad of plants to mine for resources, the ship yards to build them and robotic construction methods as well. Not to mention brilliant minds abound with various technologies. What I want to see is a solid battle one where manuvering and a competent Captian uses the ship to win, not a always a crushing defeat but one where you feel the danger and the success of good decisions and tactical thinking.
I think them designing the shrike brig after a birdcage should be cannon.....👍👌👍 Edit, I'll stop commenting now, honest.....😏 (cmon its star trek and I've been waiting for this exact video from you guys, of course I'm excited)....
All they had to do was send a temporal agent back to 2375 and stop Luther Sloan from visiting DS9 so Julian doesn’t get the cure! That would have ended the changelings forever. (Poor Odo! But hey, the needs of the many…) After visiting the 21st century in Picard S2 they could’ve stopped by on their way home.
I didnt think she was a founder! I thought she was a sample, a piece if you will, she talks about gaining sentience during the experiments, I thought she did anyways, Im seldom wrong😅 but as its you guys I'll re watch, watch this space tho....👍👌👍
I wouldn't insult the Shrike with such an ugly, silly looking comparison. The Narada was lame looking, just some big blob of spindly pointy things. Very stupid design.
I have noticed that tv series seasons are only half as long as the seasons of Next generation and voyager. Are they too lazy to do 20 plus episodes a season now?
Finding out about its weapons specifications, made my husband and myself go WTF.... F*ck that! That is one nasty, nasty ship. As you said, it had it all, plus things not mentioned before. If it hadn't aligned with the Borg, what would it have done to them???? If I had been on a Federation ship and saw that thing coming, knowing what it was, I would have farted and followed through, then gone to full warp before my own ship managed to catch up with me.
I hate it when the concepts that were left on the drawing table are miles better than the final product. especially when the design is fictional and doesn't really have to take real world life constraints into consideration.
Here’s a tip, put adverts at the end of your video so we can hear them while our mental food goes down. Shoving them in at the beginning like that is a sure way of getting your video skipped. As for that ship, Sona Design much?
