The only Scotty that is actually Scottish. Good to see Martin Quinn playing the iconic role. I'm loving it.

He actually kind of looks like James Doohan. Impressive!

The colony set is the same set they used for the town of Margrave Georgia in Reacher season 1. they just added some metallic stage bits but i recognized the gazebo

They used to say the Professor on "Gilligan's Island" could make a nuclear reactor with some chewing gum, some aluminum foil and two coconuts. Scotty could build a warp drive and not need the chewing gum.

Dr McCoy has to show up sooner or later. From the books, even though they might not be canon, Kirk and Bones knew each other prior to their posting to the Enterprise.

If this show runs long enough to season 9-10. I hope we will eventually see them all join the enterprise. Scotty, Bones, Sulu etc.

He has a bit more than a cameo. He's in a lot of it, and arrives fairly early.

Okay, Quinn's a Scot. Fine, glad for the man. But I've already read too many comments dissing James Doohan's accent. An accomplished radio actor and dialectician, even Doohan admitted he couldn't unleash "the guid Scots tongue" without making most Stateside viewers go "Whunh?" in chorus. Find the TAS episode where he sings in Welsh...in character no less.

It’s obvious that Carol Kane’s character bites the dust to bring on Scotty as the next enterprise engineer.

The storyline is starting to make sense. It was Kirk who took command of the 1701 after Pikes accident, and I am hoping that they give us an original series reboot with new storylines. I always felt that the original series ended too quickly.

@DS9TREK, you forget that Starfleet classified that encounter. The Federation was healing from the war with the Klingons and wasn’t able to deal with them yet.

Y'know... I'm not happy with the casting for Kirk, and that's okay i'll get over it, but I'm very pleased with their choice for Scotty!

The finale was good, I do not like not having a firm ending though. Through 2 seasons, Strange New Worlds has become my favorite Trek series ever, might be my favorite show all around right now, and Captain Pike has become my favorite captain (please keep him around as captain for MANY more seasons)

Not so much a miscast but Scotty is older than Kirk, this Scotty isn’t.

Dramatically it’s an unavoidable low-stakes issue in an action prequel show to have characters that can’t die, which so far are Pike, Kirk, Kirk’s brother, Captain April, the doctor and nurse, Uhura, and now Scotty. At least only Pike knows he can’t die. And what about the waste of training time in not using a brilliant engineer in Kirk’s Enterprise in Uhura? TOS version of her is only on the bridge. Maybe they could retcon and say in the several “future” missions (where Nichelle Nichols is not on the bridge) that she will be helping out in the engineering when she’s not running comms. And, what happened to the virtual all-female bridge after Pike? Did Kirk have a problem with that?

Scotty is supposed to be about ten years older than Kirk, now he's ten years younger. For that matter why is young Lieutenant Kirk being played by a 41 year old? Hopefully they at least won't play him for laughs, like they did in the movies. Go back and watch the original movies, Scotty wasn't some goofball, he was the sort of hardass that was prepared to carry out General Order 24 to rescue a landing party. (General Order 24 - The systematic annihilation of all life on an inhabited planet.) PS - The next time someone starts peddling bilge about Starfleet not being a military organization, remind them about General Order 24.

kirk and scottie's footsteps? someone has completely forgotten uhura who was shown first.....tsk tsk tsk....such whitewashing...

In the Solo movie the L3-37 female robot’s consciousness was put into the millennium falcons computer system...so credit for Han Solo’s Kessel run was given to a woman? Now Scotty’s engineering wizardry will be attributed to Pelia because he was her student?!!! This stuff just feels so forced, just stop it!

In a mostly awful season it was pretty good.
