Funniest part of the movie by far, and even more amusing by the fact that Han thought that blasting the intercom would get him out of the situation. Always wondered who was on the other end of that intercom... was he talking to a stormtrooper, or someone more important?

For those wondering why Leia poses sensually when Luke finds her in her cell, that's because of a plot detail lost by constant script rewrites: in Lucas's original draft, Leia (who is a spoiled brat and not the strong and stubborn woman we know) has a growing sexual tension with the hero Annikin Starkiller. After being separated from her group and kidnapped by the Empire, Leia receives Annikin when he goes to rescue her from captivity with a sensual pose to encourage their reunion to be more passionate, an objective that she fulfills when both youngsters kiss while the Death Star is destroyed. All of this is depicted in the comic book adaptation of Lucas's original draft called "The Star Wars".

This isn't a plot hole, the character's not intentionally making a sexy pose here, that's just the position she happened to be in when she sat up. The writers clearly put her in that position for the sake of sex appeal, but there is an in-universe explanation for why she's sitting like that. That is interesting information though, it's interesting to think about how radically different these movies could've been...

1:25 Mark Hamill ad-libbed 1138 as a joke since that number was referenced in George Lucas’s previous films and also because the number of the stormtrooper Luke got the uniform from was originally THX-1138, but Lucas never included this in the final cut of the film and this fact only exists in the final drafts of the script and the novelization. Apparently Lucas wasn’t too happy with Hamill saying this and planned to use another take where he doesn’t say the number, but in the end decided to keep that take in the film since it was the best one and it continued Lucas’s trademark of incorporating that number in all of his projects.

I love how Luke says what he's probably dreamed of saying for his entire life, "I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you." And the Princess says, "You're who??" It's so perfect. Lucas nailed it and made it serious but hilarious at the same time.

@@codystearley52 It's the name Satine called him in private :) He always uses it for undercover missions (Rako Hardeen mission as well). But overall you are right about the 'Kenobi' part. IMO even the Lars shouldn't have allowed Luke to use 'Skywalker' as the last name. I guess outer rim planets weren't seen as a threat by Vader or the Emperor.

In that moment (that we all first saw when it came out, anyway), Leia wasn't a demure damsel in distress archetype; she became someone who took matters into her own hands, even at incredible odds. Even when she was turned into a slave girl, Leia found a way to turn the situation in her and her friends' favour, and it helped save the day. Leia shouldn't be a Disney Princess: she should be the first Disney Queen because she's THAT iconic

Sometimes writers momentarily forget that a character doesn't know a thing that the writer and the audience know. This is clearly what happened here. Its no biggie.

A brilliant story of a blonde, in a way prince-like, boy who was from a lowly family, but who had a dream. He was someone I wanted to be like. I remember this flic made my heart beat faster. I remember wanting to be HIM. Wanting to be a Jedi who could wield a lightsabre and use the Force. I have watched hundreds of adventure films since then, but have hardly found anything like the Trilogy.

I only just now realized this but leia was WAYYYY too sarcastic and ungrateful for the rescue… 4 people broke into the equivalent of a floating mega fortress. Setting off pretty much all the alarms to rescue her. And her first response is sarcastic remarks

Well I think it's because it was a floating mega fortress, not in spite of that. To her it must have seemed like these two guys and a wookie just totally bumrushed the place, it probably seemed suicidal. Like instead of sending some deep undercover rebel spies, or coming in heavy with the whole rebel fleet, these two guys and a wookie come in running and gunning while claiming they're with a geriatric jedi master who no one has seen or heard from in decades (remember that her message to Kenobi was basically a hail Mary that was only done because he was the only person on Tattooine that she knew of who was friendly to the rebel cause, and it was only to try to get the death star plans back in rebel hands and certainly not in the hope of any sort of rescue mission). IMO the whole thing must have seemed totally insane to her.

I also want to say that wookies aren't people, and that if you're going to count Chewbacca as a person then you should just count the droids as well and say six people.
