Bro I've seen some of your other content but this is reaching. She literally said it because she wanted white people to empathize with the struggle of the character she was playing. Lots of actors would be happy if their character elicited that kind of response in their audience - it's not like she wants white people to suffer. I actually agree with some of your views on DEI in movies and games but this was reaching and intellectually lazy.
the mental gymnastics you're doing to defend this is embarrassing. If her goal was empathy she failed, her pr team failed, her manager failed, everyone who advised her failed to get that message across. do not deceive yourself. It's not reaching he played her own audio clip in the video it was the tacit goal of the production to upset people, it worked and now its a flop and they're lashing out at the fan base they themselves declare to hate. I don't even watch star wars but the show is so terrible it has entered so many different spheres of conversation.
