Honestly, I rather preferred the "choose your own loadout" system of this game than the class system of Battlefront 2. I mean, I know the change was made to balance the game. It was far too easy to create an OP loadout and just go absolutely nuts. However, I loved the sheer freedom of choice this game gave you in terms of weapons and abilities. And the character customisation was a nice touch too. You could literally play as "your soldier" rather than just the same 6 people (was not a fan of the patch they made to remove the option to have helmet-less stormtroopers, but that's just me.) Overall, some of my best fun in this game was running around with some of my favourite weapons like the Bryar Pistol or the CJ-6 Bo-Rifle and just going nuts. The game gave you virtually unlimited choice and I was extremely disappointed that they chose not to uphold this in Battlefront 2.
If you make a load out that you can go nuts with, you deserve to use it and go nuts with it. If the enemy can’t stop you, that’s on them. At one point in my battlefront career, I was the one getting stomped by a jump roller with an ee3 and the damage boost card. I evolved. I became the jump roller killing people with the ee3 and damage boost card. In battlefront 2, there’s just nothing you can do. You can’t go absolutely insane, because there’s nothing that promotes long streaks as a trooper. There’s no benefit to going crazy. You just get battle points then buy a hero THEN you get benefits from streaks. Plus the camera on bf2 vs bf… omg. BF2’s is horrendous in comparison. I’ve been typing too long now
This game doesn’t have much going for it, but what it DOES have is really good. I mainly love Hoth because it actually FEELS like I’m playing The Empire Strikes Back
I still play BF2015 to this day. I like the loadout system, the pick up system for weapon drops, and Cargo. There is always someone on playing and it does not get old. You can even find folks playing Bespin, Jabba’s Palace, etc., typically on the weekends. I would love to see a BF2015 revolution.
I started playing it again because of this video. I hope it becomes more populated tho. I'd better there is still 500+ people on PS4 because I can find walker assault, blast, cargo lobbies all day long
I noticed in your gameplay you showed a player named Wolfpack killing you as Palpatine in horribly unbalanced lobbies. That was pretty funny to me, because when I revisited this game a year ago that exact player single-handedly made me uninstall the game since he ruined every lobby lol. Hope he’s doing well.
I think that this game had better overall gameplay and mechanics when compared to Battlefront II. Gunplay, star cards, the way heroes worked so that you didn't have 4 at any one time etc. was better than Battlefront II; but Battlefront II covered all eras which I think is better.
I agree, the gameplay was a lot more fun and balanced, each weapon was unique in its own way, the ttk felt spot on (in bf2 it feels too long) also I like the way that it balances heroes being more powerfull but no health regen, so even if you die and put a bunch of damage into them you still did something, also the fact that there is only 1 or 2 on the battlefield at once is nice instead of the constant 8 heroes in bf2.

Thank you for the video. I don't know what it is, but this game has got something that Battlefront II did not have. The Star Wars feeling was captured perfectly and better than in Battlefront 2. I'm still playing BF 2 to this day, because Battlefront 2015 is (nearly) dead, but now seeing footage of Battlefront 2015, I realize that the first game might have been the better game. The immersion that I felt in Battlefront 2015 was and is at a level, that I never felt at any moment in Battlefront 2017. The feeling "I'm in Star Wars" is something that You mentioned the graphical fidelity of Battlefront 2015 and I think that Battlefront 2015 looks better than Battlefront II 2017. I read a post on reddit that the textures in the frostbite engine of Battlefront 2015 are indeed higher in resolution than the textures in Battlefront 2 and I think, that you can "feel" that. The lighting in Battlefront 2015 is also much better. The map design in Battlefront 2015 is grounded in photogrammetry real-life scans of the actual film's locations and I think that that makes it feel better. The gamemodes were built into the maps. The very linear nature of Galactic Assault in Battlefront 2017 made for some restrictive map design. The sound design of Battlfront 2015 seems also superior. Yes, Battlefront 2015 launched with a lack of content, but the content hat was there was just polished and perfect. They clearly went for quantity over quality - to some extent - in Battlefront II 2017. I of course love the fact, that the second game had all three eras, but all of that content just felt less refined, less polished. To me, Battlefront II 2017 always felt rushed and less polished. In terms of gameplay, I think, I actually prefer Battlefront 2015. It knew, what it wanted to be: an arcade shooter and with that, I like the idea of the power-ups. With Battlefront 2, they tried to give it more depth, but tried to keep it as arcade like as possible. The classes are just "split up star cards" and the guns are restricted to the classes. The battle-point system....well, it is good, but I liked the feeling of "just playing Battlefront 2015" and not just play as a soldier to collect points to get a hero as fast as possible. I just preffered the gameplay of Battlefront 1. The live service: Well, non of the three live service titles by DICE were "great" in terms of support. Battlefront II 2017 did get some really good content post launch, but many of the maps for (Capital) Supremacy were just the Galactic Assault maps and were not really "new content", but it was free. I still preferred the Season Pass model to be honest. A DLC drop with a new game mode, multiple maps and new heroes was just something special and I honestly preffered this over the drip-feed content during Battlefront II 2017's live service. You could tell that the team was too small after the disasterous launch of Battlefront 2017 to deliver a significant amount of content. Maybe, I'm a bit too negative about the second game, but there was just something magical about the feeling in Battlefront 2015. This feeling of authenticity, that I never felt in Battlefront II 2017 or in any other Star Wars game. Battlefront 2015 captured the essence of Star Wars perfectly and this "feeling" of Battlefront 2015's immersion is unmatched for me. I never felt that in any other Star Wars game. I agree that the battlepoints were an improvement, but looking back I would even say that I prefer the power ups, because the heroes were limited to one per side and they were really powerful. Plus I think, you played the game differently because of the power ups. It was more enjoyable, because you were not playing regular infentary with the pressure of getting battle points as fast as possible. The battle points can be seen as an improvement, but they are not ideal as well. The power ups had their positive side as well. The good thing in Battlefront 2017 is that you get points for dealing damage. That is not fully linked to the battlepoint system, but still.

Everything about it recaptured the original trilogy. The color palettes, the sound, and even the explosions looked like the practical effects used in the films. Even the main menu feels like your standing in some sort of prop museum.
@@TheyWantMeGone69 oh yes. You are so right. And that is just not present in Battlefront II 2017. Again, they went for quantity over quality (which is understandable of course), but I also preferred Battlefront 2015's overall gameplay. The whole game felt more polished than the second.
This game was my life for so many years, I literally played this for like 2 years straight, no other games. It’s honestly the best game I’ve ever owned❤️
I think the game’s Original Trilogy Only focus was a brilliant idea. They just did it so well. I wish they’d just make the DLC content free for everybody so those maps would not be abandoned.
It might have been brilliantly recreated (BF2015 looks slightly better than BF2017) but it certainly wasn't a brilliant idea given how many people wanted more than one era and how neglected prequels were back then. Disney almost pretended they didn't exist.
The best way I can explain why I like this game so much: The battles feel like your on a movie set or a filming location. The soldiers feel like actors in costumes holding prop weapons. Even the alien species feel like actors with masks. Here's where the magic happens. The prop guns start shooting plasma bolts, the AT-ST and AT-AT props come alive, the pyrotechnician sets up the practical explosions from blasts. It feels like a scene being shot on film in real time and you're part of it. Except nothing is scripted(Well maybe Walker Assault but you get the point). There's even a film grain slider in the options for crying out loud. I don't get that same feeling in Battlefront 2. It just feels like a generic sci fi shooter. The Tatooine in Battlefront 2 doesn't feel like that filming location in Tunisia and Hoth doesn't feel like Norway. The color palettes are off too.
I absolutely loved Star Wars Battlefront (2015); particularly, Blast Mode. The competition was amazing and balanced. I would literally play for hours. I would argue it’s the “gold standard” for PvP competition. I had all the DLCs, unlocked all the weapons, and maxed out leveling. When the sequel was released in 2017, it’s made the game play less enjoyable, and you can tell the developers did not put forth the effort, as they did with the 2015 title. And as others as mentioned, I loved the fact to you control your load out versus the 2017 version. I hope someday the original developers return, and bring the 2015 version a life again.
Just so ppl know there is a community that organizes dlc matches, at least on pc. Ozzy, if you happen to see this I would be happy to set you up with a bespin lobby, although they often happen during evenings in Europe. However, considering you are Australian, you could actually be a big help in reviving the dlc's and large games modes in the Pacific region, since all the main action happens on EU servers on the other side of the world.
The game that brought me back to gaming! It blew me away with how good it looked. Met some friends and have some really good memories. Still occasionally play it. Hope you are well Ozzy 🙂
hard agree with the small modes being better, i used to play competitively on this game in private matches of cargo, and it was the most fun ive ever had. the private matches made this game legendary, and its something thatll always be a burning flame in my heart. it gave me some of the most fun in my life and gave me a lot of the friends i have today
Battlefront 2015 had the best maps and best star cards and best gamemodes with its great gun play mechanics with those components added to BF2 heroes and trooper mechanics would make my dream battlefront
I disagree with the game being split into DLC's being what ended EA SWBF 1. What really ended it was the criminal prices for them, the also criminally priced BP, no story mode, co-op modes not allowing local play, aircraft on surface being power ups instead of base pickups and, most importantly, the game demanding being always online.
You can play BF 2015 offline and split screen, though a lot of those modes aren’t great. At launch Survival was decent, as well as 2 of the 5 Training Missions (Speeder Bike and T-47 Missions). Granted this is minimal stuff, but they also later added Skirmish which allows you to play Walker Assault offline and splitscreen. The AI was pretty bad for it, though. BF2 did launch with the Arcade mode that allows offline split screen for another Survival mode (Onslaught) and Team Deathmatch. However, while I was very grateful when two years later they added offline Supremacy and Attack/Defend modes, they didn’t make them split screen which is a huge bummer.
I really wish that more maps from this game made it into Battlefront 2. Imagine Supremacy Bioniip Laboratories*, or extraction on Sullust, or Galatic Assault on Cloud City. The maps in this game were great *I don’t remember if this map is actually big enough for supremacy or not lol
Bioniip Laboratories is honestly the best map ever. It's well designed, but mostly it's the most beautiful map ever. All white, clinically clean, green accents. I love it
Star Wars Battlefront 2015 was amazing, loved playing it online on PS4 back in 2015, especially right around the time The Force Awakens came out, glad to see the game have a large number of offline modes, having a blast playing it on PS5 now 🙌
Just an honest game. Simple enough, real differences between the weapons. No perfect weapon but the differences require loadout changes depending on maps. Usual crew of guys that consistently show up over the last 7-8 years!!. The best aspect is that it delivers the Star Wars experience. The sound track, the visuals. (The stormtroopers look accurate to ANH and ESB). I will never stop playing this game :)
if you want to play dlc, they’re actually still popular on xbox, despite what he said. you must search on US East servers at 3pm+ and usually on the weekends you’ll find a game. also, there’s no longer any australian, asian or south american servers as ea shut them down.

I Know this is a little late to comment. I play this game on PC on a daily basis. now there is a discord that most of the 4.000 players use. We organize DLC Events almost 2-3 days a week. Mostly play cargo on US west/east and EU Servers. But Overall Love this game!
I will for ever love this game. My first Battefront was the BF2 from 2006 but this one felt AWESOME. I live in a country were Xbox and Star Wars are not that of a "Huge deal" so i recall playing it offline and eventually starting to play it on Xboox Gold, it was SO MUCH FREAKING CREAZY FUN, you have no idea how creazy it was for me to play with people of my country and all arround the world. Hope this game never die.
I played it’s multiplayer only a little before BF2 released and I had a great time with it. I didn’t have many weapons and items unlocked but here’s my load out: L1: Jump pack Triangle: Ion shot (It was all I had) R1: Scout pistol Gun: T-21 I didn’t even have the DLC however I did only get the game for $10cad and for that price, it was absolutely worth it!
Man there is a whole discord server set up for this very purpose. To find DLC games. Playing EU servers on PS is where u are most likely to find a game from around 2pm - 9pm BST. I still frequently play this game and (although not an amazing game), it's still probably my favourite game of all time just because of the nostalgia and memories I have for it
Getting this game for christmas along with a specially designed ps4 that year was absolutely awesome. So many fond memories of this game. Played the survival gamemode with my dad and so much more. The feeling of finally defeating a hero or villain, or before you could choose your character in HvV, the feeling of getting the hero you always wanted. This game still has a charm, and lives up to standards today. Thats how actually good it was in my opinion.
While I agree that Bespin was the best DLC and was one of my favorites, I still occasionally go back to this game more for Cargo and Skirmish Walker Assault split screen with my nephews. And while I can usually find a Bespin match on the weekends on PS4, during the week the Vanilla Big Mode Shuffle (WA, Supremacy & TP) is still going and I think still solid with 7 maps and 3 modes. While Bespin was the best DLC, what angered me most was the Death Star DLC not being a part of the base game. It’s called Star Wars and there was no Fighter Squadron map in space, nor any small maps where you could look out a window in space. This offended me, especially because even only focusing on the OT, those movies have plenty of space scenes. Still, I did love this game. It’s what finally pushed me to get my PS4 and I had a lot of great memories with it. Great sights & sounds and while basic gameplay and choices in guns & maps, it scratched the itch for me well enough. Plus I also got TW3 and FC Primal along this game to keep me busy.
I absolutely love the Bespin DLC - my favourite by far, but I can never manage to find a game as hardly anybody plays it anymore. How do you manage to get people in your Bespin games? Mine are always empty so I can’t play the DLC😢

@@judebowennn1074 all of the DLC should have been open and available to be played as offline games so you could at least get some practice in... hell the offline modes should have had 3 difficulty settings.. and on top of that all the maps and modes should have been accessible in BF2... or a hub should have been created for BF and BF2 to run within so all would be accessible in one place.
I love battlefront. it is still one of my favorite games. i used to play it with my friends for hours and i have made some of the best memories playing this game.
As someone who plays it now (in 2023) and have played it for years (about its release) and now the game is almost fully dead. When I’m playing I have to play 12 player mode because for me it’s 5pm uk time when everyone gets on in 40 player modes and most of the game is filled with sweats and I haven’t seen a new player in the lobbies around since like last year to two years ago. I play on a ps4 btw so idk if it affects things. But in the end I feel like the game is dead unless you play walker assault at 5pm to 6pm uk time. Also it’s still a longer wait to play tbh I really recommend the game just to get the game going again. Even though half of it is behind a pay wall. I love this game and have for years but just sitting there for hours is just sad and boring and when you join is just 1-3 people who just leave a second later. Every server I join I see some of the same people in my lobbies. As much as I love this game it’s legit so dead it’s sad
I’m gonna go ahead and say it I don’t have the dlc or extra content or whatever. But this is by far my favorite video game you can still enjoy it either way.
yo, play outer rim, bespin and all that at around 8-10am for sydney time on US west or east. It always works for me and ive played a few bespin matches.
This game was my childhood and I tried it again recently on the dlc and it made me sad that whenever I tried anything like bespin or rogue one, it was empty aside from 1 or 2 people.
I feel like 2015 has considerably more weight to the gameplay than 2017. I don't know why I just wish we could get a hybrid of both games. edit: also survival was awesome
As a kid, i grown up at this game. I recomend it it is even better than battle front 2 if we want immersion of war. Classic and will never be forgotten in my heart.I feel like this game will someday blow up again.. I realy LOVE IT, it was my FIRST EVER STAR WARS GAME.
Great video! If your still considering looking back at other star wars games could you go back to The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed II. And do a side by side comparison similar to what you did with bf and bf2 in this video or just look at one and comment on how its aged. Also on PS servers you can still get some good servers on the base content but I want the game to come out on PS plus along with the DLC content so that we can get a bump in player activity. Only if it's for a few weeks it will allow people to remember the good old days of the game and feel nostalgic. Anyway thanks for the video.
I loved that it focused on the OT, it gave them a lot of freedom to explore all the locations, characters and weapons featured in the movies that wouldve been skipped if they had to include every movie. Paired with the gorgeous graphics and they nailed the OT atmosphere. Didn't really care for sequel/rogue one content.
BF 2015 still holds up. There were so detailed and awesome maps. Like the dune sea, sullust, cloud city and the carbonite chambers. Why couldnt EA just recycle these for BF2?
For me, BF 1 having royal guards made the difference. If BF2 had a reinforcement class called “Bodyguard” I would have been stoked. Imagine it is a melee focused, defensive unit that has an ability to absorb incoming damage if you are within a certain radius of a friendly hero character. Your other special ability is a 3 combo melee strike, and the last ability is a temporary health boost for friendly heroes within a few yards and it drains the further away you get from those heroes. You are a low damage, short range 1,000 point reinforcement, designed to increase the survivability of up to 4 friendly heroes (assuming they are smart enough to stay near you instead of running off on their own). Empire gets palpatine’s crimson guard, alliance gets the honor guard from the end of new hope when luke and han are getting medals, trade federation gets magma droid guards, clones get the blue senate guard, first order gets those red sith guards, and resistance gets some alien species from the new trilogy. Boom, got your 4th reinforcement class, balanced for a unique role, with theme appropriate skins, and makes up for there being no bodyguards like in BF1.
You will never get a match on bespin or scarif because people only want the ee4 and shock grenade but every has it so it is depressing maybe bespin if you get kinda lucky
BF1 2015 Loadout, Movement system, ttk BF2 2018 Modes and Scale BF1 2004 Starship to Ground and Strategy BF2 2005 Galactic Conquest and Maps = Best BF (imo)

I think that BF1 and BF2 are like the movies. BF1 is like the originals( 4,5,6) crisp, good efects and it has a bit heart and BF2 are like the new period (7,8,9) looks pretty good but kinda cartoony, muddy and without heart and soul. It just a game but BF1 is much more. BF1 core gameplay is awesome! I just love the loadout system with different blasters. Gameplay is fast and much more vertical with the jumpbacks. It was so awesome to try out the different loadouts and blasters with different maps and try out new things.
I don’t like how much Ozzy focuses on the lobbies. On Xbox I play the dlc maps all the time. There are resources out there to get you full dlc maps. For example, I use an Xbox club called battlefront dlc players, and just make an post for a certain server at a certain time, and boom! Lobby
1000 thousand percent agree. Spent years laughing my but off playing bespin having so much fun truly miss that. I too tried to play and with no luck nothing. I guess I have to not cry because it's over, but smile because it happened. Good job brother.🍷🤙
If a battlefront 3 were ever to come out I think it should be set up as follows: Keep the battle point system but only allow 1 hero for each team like in this game It should have the star card load and character customization like in this game Game modes should be set up like this game but have content for all 3 eras DLCs should be free for everyone but be organized like how it is in this game- multiple maps and modes in a playlist specifically for the DLC with aspects that leak over into the base game but also have an option to put DLC maps into the normal map rotation Combat should function like BF2 but still have that aspect of simplicity like in 201 Lastly, graphics should be like BF2 just because they are more defined but have the vibrancy that the 2015 maps had
I spent hours and hours on this game from the beta to Rogue one dlc, it was so much fun to be able to pick a specific weapon and load out depending on the map and game mode, something I wish bf2 had. The maps I agree we’re the standout, very memorable and well designed. I would say that the Bespin dlc was really good, I just had way more fun with the outrim content, Nien nub was a fun unique character and the extraction gamemode was more than just a payload mode. Also Sullust maps had a great environment to them and mostly balanced. The gun play was another standout I think, more able to react than bf2 and the weapons all felt there own unique sounds and uses.
I played Battlefront 2015 as a little kid every day on my old ps4, same map (Tatooine) same game mode and same loadouts every time and never got bored, maybe that was just me as a little kid but this game will always be special to me
This game felt much more like Star Wars than BF2. Yes, it had it's issues but I loved it at the time. I just wish someone would actually take the BF IP and finally get it right. Like actually listening to the player base.
I would say btf 2015 in ps4 Europe still has dlc lobbies You usually find some dlc lobbies in peak times If you try hard enough you can find bespin lobbies from time to time but Death Star and scarif lobbies are nearly impossible to find
Absolutely LOVED battlestation. It was a great way to get XP and it was just so much fun. Getting Luke's x wing and doing the whole trench run was just boss
Man this game was everything to me when I was a teenager, I played all day everyday for about 3 years straight. It got me through some tough, confusing times.
Walker Assault was the most fun I've ever had playing a competitive multiplayer shooter. Unfortunately, Battlefront 2 basically killed the player base. It would be great to see a custom-client mod in the future.
For anyone that is wondering bespin lobbies can still be found, in the week before this video came out i found 2 lobbies what u have to do is make a post so people will play
They should do a modded server menu so that you can easily join full servers. Just like they are doing with the older cods on pc. If they manage to do something like that it might be able to revive the game a bit.
Having played both BF and BF2 quite a bit I definitely found BF to be far more fun as a casual gamer than BF2. The "hero pickup" mechanic where literally anyone could stumble across a power up and become a hero or pilot a vehicle for a bit meant all players got to experience this - compare to BF2 where if you weren't a pro player putting in hours a week to level up and become a crack shot you basically had very little chance of ever getting to play one of the heros or do anything interesting. BF2's combat mechanics were definitely a bit better and I liked the expanded scope that included the prequels, but I agree that BF had the better maps as well.
My mind is full of awesome memories thanks to this games suchs and long night gaming sessions with my buddies, and my personal record in any fps game, 80-2 in starfighter assault, what an awesome game
I play Battlefront right now in January 2024 and recently I have actually been finding DLC lobbies. Bespin, Outer rim, and Death Star and it was freaking amazing. They were full lobies as well. I'm on ps5 though
My man battlefront one is also is a big part of my childhood. I used to play it a lot, and I still sometimes do honestly, it’s a really good game and you should still play it
The digital ultimate edition on ps4 is often for sale for 5 euros you get the game + all 4 dlc's absolutely worth it even if you pretty much only can play the outer rim dlc
Drop Zone game mode alone is reason enough to get friends online to play against each other. That Game mode should be in every iteration of the Battlefront Franchise.
I love battlefront. I unfortunately did not get to play it in 2015-20 as I was 7 when it came out and did not have a computer. i joined in 2021 with it as the #1 game I wanted to play and it did not let me down. The graphics are pristine, even compared to modern games, I love its combat system and I also love the pickup system. The only problem plaguing this game is that it is forgotten by many, and if you want to find a multiplayer server that isn't blast or droid pickup, you can forget about it.

I’ve played battlefront since it’s release and I still find most of the dlc lobbies to be full (only on weekends though) I livestream the game every Saturday just to have some fun with it. Just make sure you look for your Bespin lobbies on weekends
