We need a Grievous tv show in 8 episodes with the first four about Grievous’s life before, as a war lord on Kalee and how Dooku betrayed him and transformed him, then 4 episodes with him during the clone wars, with his kills on Geonosis, a remake of the Hypori battle, and idk like explain that he became weak during an encounter with Mace Windu crushing his lungs at half the clone wars timeline, explaining why he is weak in The Clone Wars 3D. This could make Grievous op during a few episodes to then reconnect to the canon. And also the last episode should be focused on the battle of Coruscant and Grievous kidnapping Palpatine. Also the show could bring back Count Dooku like they brought back Tarkin in Rogue One, with a deepfake, and be focused on some interesting facts about the universe, like lightsaber duel styles and learning (something we never properly saw in live action and that could be seen with Dooku training Grievous), and also war strategy in the Star Wars universe, like Grievous planning his attacks on the Republic and Coruscant, and other stuffs like that
Coolest part about Grievous' fighting is his non-human fighting style. He's not playing with the limitations of a fleshy body, he can twist, spin, contract and grip in inhuman ways, like a martial art exclusive to him.
I couldn't agree more, Yup, I mean I love how he uses his feet as hands too, it's something much more alien. Too bad they got rid of all of that in the 2008(now canon) Clone Wars and in ROTS. But agreed, it's so unique and makes him stand out as a character, we haven't seen such a fighting style before or since in Star Wars.
Yes, it's so refreshing to see a cyborg using the full potential of what a heavily cyborg body can do. Instead of just fighting like a human but statboosted.
He didn't get nerfed. You just don't see him winning. Tell me this, if Grevious was so "nerfed", why did ending the Clone Wars require his death? And if it required his death, that must mean he has secured countless victories against the Republic, considering the war was 3 years long. Imagine that. Things that happen on screen arent the sole characteristics of the character!
@@TheSCPStudio I think that's the problem though. We get to see Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, Yoda, Windu, etc... we see them all in badass sequences, but we didn't see that (often) in TCW. It should've been shown on screen, and it was one of the only major flaws in TCW because we mostly saw Grievous as a bumbling bafoon.
@@TheSCPStudio I wish we did get his on-screen victories though. No matter how I like EP3 and Other Clone Wars - Grevious is a botcher there, even if lore says otherwise.
It would have been so easy to just make him above average and be boring with him just being faster and stronger than the jedi by animating him faster, but no, they take COMPLETE advantage of how he is practically a full inorganic monster and it's fucking BRILLIANT
The thing that I LOVE about this show is how agile they made the jedi/sith. In practically no other show that I have seen have characters jumping and running around like their in titanfall 2
and the funny thing is that THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ALL OVER THE PLACE, but i get that animating them running all around and doing cool stuff is pricey
@@Suguru_Geto69 said no one ever. There's was even a physics breakdown showing the speed was slower in every regard excepting certain (short) grapple windows
I mean for 2003 grievous killing Jedi’s are a normal thing because i believe in legions he had a room full of hundred of lightsaber meaning he probably killed a couple hundred Jedi before lol
I just love Battle IQ of Grievous in 2003 version. 1. He uses his hands, legs in battle. 2. He have turtle mode. 3. He is calm as hell, have breakdance style.
Well, it is canon, it actually was shown there why he is no longer a great warrior but a cunning tactician. Windu broke his lungs and half of his remaining organs beyond repair, which led to more cybernetic augmentations as the last resort to keep him alive, but it weakened him greatly
I’d say that he still felt threatening, but not as threatening as 2003, 2005 was alright, and still did have his moments, 2008 is in the same realm for me
He watered down Mace Windu who'd made Grievous week.Everyone likes to hate Disney but I always blamed Lucas. His screenplay and directing were mediocre.Funny that both tv shows had better storylines than every prequels except ROTS(not speaking about plan if Palpatine who could end up very fast and dumb way of killing Mace and General(Grievous was killed as Maul in Episode 1 because Lucas is bad screenwriter) and 6th episode
@@sandansaiyan5675someone finally says it lol, Lucas is a good worldbuilder but he has terrible writing skills. And if he realised that his fanbase grew up while making the prequels maybe he wouldn't have to sell to Disney
At least the video game adaptation of Episode 3 treats him like a legit boss threat, and also had an awesome gameplay where you play as him in that Mini Game and the 2 player battle mode.
Tbh, I love how brutal grevious is here, the way he doesn't just use his lightsabers but will grab people and throw them around, it really makes him feel like something else, not a jedi or sith, like the monster he is envisioned as a legend would refer to him.
I never knew why Grievous had Jedi Colour lightsabers until I realised he’s the Jedi hunter so using the weapons of fallen Jedi would install fear to Jedi knowing he’s kill many Jedi.
@@aaronpalma3252 grevious prefers using the lightsabers as is, it makes more sense as jedi's lightsaber means so much more than just a weapon, they are made by a jedi and serve as a reflection, that's why grevious liked collecting them so much, the next best thing would have been the jedi's head. There was no need to bleed a crystal because to see it untainted wielded by the jedi's killer himself is a much more powerful image.
2:29 maybe I can understand why they nerfed grievous in the clone wars series but why the hell did they get rid of his break dancing fighting style! LOOK AT IT!! You can't tell me that isn't the coolest shit you've seen
@@hyperion3145 i feel like the progression of how he fights should've been backwards of how he fights in 2003 Clone Wars to the newer media let's say he started off with the new slower more arm spinning style and then as it went on he started doing this awesome breakdancing stuff since the slower style feels like how tribal duels are often depicted with the fighters slowly making their way closer to eachother while doing intimidating stuff (in this case spinning his hands around with lightsabers) i think it fits with how Grievous started losing his old more honourable and warrior ways as his life goes on
@@hyperion3145 They should've use both. By that I mean they could've just have Grievous spin the Lightsabers against the ground as a taunt before having him use the type of combat he used in these clips.

@@jaceanderson5748 Yes and no. You see, they wrote the badass version of Grievous for the show before George Lucas had finalized the character. When another season was written to directly lead into Revenge of the Sith, they realized the discrepancy between their version and the film's, so they created that scene to explain it.
@@matthewmuir8884 So yee, him literally having crushed internal organs only an hour before the film, are a good explanation for why he isn't nearly as powerful in RotS.
@@matthewmuir8884 Although it doesn’t explain why his British accent suddenly became...whatever it was in ROTS. I think he would have retained some of his menacing presence if he at least had the same voice. The new voice was just ripe for memes.
The voice of this Grievous is more eerie in my opinion. The breathy, British voice makes him more ominous than the TB patient we got in the clone wars and ROTS
Because he IS a TB patient in those versions. He never recovered fully from Windu's attack -- which is stupid imo, he's already a cyborg. Why can't they fix fucking respirators?
@@thetheory6159 I always wondered that too, but also you have to look at Vader’s suit and how bulky and painful it was for him. @@thephoenix4093 We can all list abstract titles which are not even correct. But that's entirely meaningless. So provide the 3 greatest *combative* feats of Vader in this neatly presented fashion: 1) 2) 3)
@@ForsakenDreamer7 in legends or canon? In both they Are spectacular by star wars standards. I don't remember all of them but I can give a few examples In canon: he never actually used the force in that situation but he once faced an entire army in a planet and he killed them all using his lightsaber alien when they were millions of people with blasters he not only dodged all of the shots he also killed them all without a single injury he also killed a monster in a size of a small Island those are some of his best combative skills he did far more impressive things using the force but in legends he also killed 5 Jedis at the same time and I mean differently than when grievous ambushed bunch of Injured, scared, and weak Jedi and still couldn't kill them all but when Vader himself was ambushed by them and he eradicated them all.
And the implications that Grievous can get even better. Since he was improving in real time based on Dooku's critiques. That scene alone had so many implications alone!
Dooku was considered one of the most powerful force users in the order. He was an excellent duelist, and strong with the force. Him leaving the order was a big blow in its own way.

@@pragatri But Grievous has no contact with the force. The use of Lightsabers also requires a lot of the user's connection with the Force to hit the moves.
General grievous will be my favorite villain. His introduction shows that the good guys didnt win by a long shot by "da powa of fwendship" or "da force" but that they BARELY won by sheer luck of when reinforcements arrived. Truly a scene to be remembered.
I'm not sure if I'd call that 'win' ...... the Jedi lost several of their own and at least two others were seriously wounded. They escaped yeah but that seems like a solid L for them.
It's weird how George wanted him to be more of a moustache twirling villain than an absolute unit because A sidious and dooku fill those roles perfectly, and B, this is definitely a jedi killer
@@peterstoric6560wich was stupid. Coulda offered an interesting parallel between the two, and how they handled their cybernetics.... One limited and in pain from them... The other thriving thanks to them.
@U bie how he is not supposed to be this strong if he has a device in his brain to read lightsaber forms and counter them, he also was trained by Dooku one best duelists to use fear against Jedi in order to interrupt their calm mind and to overcome Grievous lack on the force?
God, as much as i love Grievous i kinda get why they nerfed him, with how his training and experience was going up (as well as his Lightsaber collection) probably only Anakin could've stopped him tbh
Thing is, he got nerfed way too much. It made sense in RotS that he'd escape when faced with both Obi-Wan and Anakin at once, a great threat even for him, and Obi-Wan with his mastery of Soresu (the most defensive lightsaber style) was the best candidate to fight him. But Dave Filoni made the mistake of basing his portrayal of the character solely on RotS, him constantly just loosing, escaping and the few times he gets a win, he needs to cheat. Kind of makes it boring when your main antagonists can never really feel like a true threat.
@@TheDragonoftheWest it’s also just a balancing thing. None of the characters in the 2008 run are as powerful as shown here so I feel that grevious was always going to get nerfed. But you’re right, he got nerfed too much and it basically ruined the character.
Nope Anakin would’ve lost outright. He’s not good enough of a duelist. He’s good but not good enough. The ONLY TWO Jedi ever shown to defeat Grievous in 1-on-1 combat are Kit Fisto and Obi-Wan Kenobi. And Kenobi’s duel with Anakin on Mustafar may have been close, but he won out over Anakin. If Anakin couldn’t beat Obi-Wan, he couldn’t beat Grievous.

God how I miss when Grievous was such a badass😞 Also just my opinion but I always felt Grievous should have fought against multiple jedi at least 2 alongside Kenobi. No way Kenobi could have defended himself against 4 lightsabers
If you think about it, no jedi could stand a chance against 4 lightsabers, unless he's Pong Krell. You have one, or maybe 2 lightsabers. There are still at least 2 arms attacking you simultaneously. And if you are fast enough to parry 4 simultaneous attacks, you are fast enough to end the fight in a second, because it means you move at the speed of light. And I don't think someone like Grievous wouldn't use his biggest advantage in a fight: attacking simultaneously from 4 different directions. Unless his robotic body has been purposedly "nerfed" so he would be killed, and thus lose the war, which would allow a certain person to gain notoriety in the Senate...
@@ianm5686 As much as I love Kenobi, there is no way he would be able to parry 4 simultaneous attacks from 4 separate directions if his opponent has the same speed as him, no matter how much of a master he is. As I said, it is only possible if Grievous has some form of skill lock on his robotical body that doesn't allow him to do this. Which sounds more logical than Kenobi being faster than Grievous and just toying with him during the entire fight while an assault is in progress and men are dying
@@gaolmiralis2247 Going by the novel, Kenobi can block up to 8 strikes per second maximum, while dodging up to 15. His absolute capacity of not being hit through both evasion and deflection is 18 strikes per second, atleast while fighting such a powerful opponent. The reason he's able to achieve this is because the Force acts trough him, anticipating each move of Grievous. Altough indeed, General does have some damage to his body as he's still recovering from Windu's attack. Ofcourse this explanation doesn't apply to modern Canon, there Grievous and by extension Kenobi are just noobs.
The fact that he did all of that with only 2 arms and only pulled out the 4 arms ONCE when he actually needed it to make quick work so he could catch up with the Chancellor
I think it's another touch that adds to the whole "break them" lesson Dooku taught him. Don't show all your assets at once, slowly overwhelm them as they realize just how much you are truly capable of. Those two jedi he was fighting had that perfect look of despair when he pulled those extra arms.
Almost 7 minutes that changed a fandom forever... and set the visual storytelling the bar so high that 7 seasons of cinematic 3d animation couldn't touch it.
This General Grievous is strong and doesn't run away after every fight. What Mace Windu did to him was hard core and explains more than him just coughing the entire time.
@@rKhael53 Windu had a special ability to see "shatterpoints" in things (both physical and otherwise), it was probably this which allowed him to do that while others were unable to.
The fact that Grievous doesn't speak a damn word until the fight ends and the Jedi retreat, truly testifies that Grievous was meant to be the next Darth in the series like Darth Grievous would've been an amazing name
One of my fav villains of all time, I remember when this came out I was in middle school & I was so hyped to see him in Revenge of the Sith just for how intimidating & formidable he was in this series & then the last ep hit & Mace crushed his chest & he’s coughing in the movie I was hoping he’d recover & go beast mode again but sadly every appearance of Grievous after he was a letdown. This one will always be the Goat
His quickness, fluidity with such an unorthodox style, brutality, and willingness to jump into a situation where he knows he's at a disadvantage makes him so badass. Then we see him get schooled by Dooku reinforcing how powerful the Sith really are. The best display of his power in all of Star Wars by far. (Windu's immediate sense of his weakness against the force and exploiting it also shows you don't fuck with Windu.)
I am in love with this man’s movements. His combat style of fluid movements, allowing an endless onslaught of lightsaber strikes that force his opponents into stressful defense. The slow methodical stalking before his fights that give off the feeling of a predatory animal hunting his prize. The kicking and grabbing that only makes him feel more primal and animalistic. And outside of combat, the giant cape makes him downright terrifying and extremely intimidating He’s more like a predatory animal than a man or machine, and I think that fits with his backstory (I don’t know it too well)
My head cannon is that this is real grevious, but after Windu collapsed his lungs he became wary of Jedi, but just like during training with Dooku when he was holding his saber to tightly and after realising his mistake was holding too lightly, he went from underastimating jedi to realising that their force abilities can be used againts him because he was mostly a droid, so he became too wary of them
I remember when I first saw this series, I was going "cool design, able to hold his own against multiple Jedi, rarely speaks, making him super intimidating, what else could they do with him? (Shows he can have 4 arms) THAT'S IT. HE'S NOW MY FAVORITE PREQUEL VILLAIN."
2:53 “Remember what I taught you General: if you are to succeed against the best of the Jedi, you must have- it would be best for you to retreat.” Did they base Grievous for the TCW series from this part?
Of course Palpatine is just being a complete troll in this scenario seeing as he could cut down Grievous and the Jedi as well as fry the Clone support with lightning if his plan went awry
All the lungs and heart.. . . . .wait that is why they said he was waiting for his surgery, he was waiting his new lungs and heart ready for transplant.
What I love about this is that grievous in this show is not seen playing ever he was made to hunt and bring out the worst in jedi at the same time as exploiting their weaknesses he is agile and ruthless not corny or funny he is deadly just like how he was made for plus grievous is never shown to have strong emotion and he is just deadly and that distant stare and crawl around inside the wrecked ship shows this extremely well
I love how he uses his feet to grab anything.Ranging from opponents to lightsabers and the little details that he doesn't even draw hiw second pair of sabers for a half dozen jedi, but immediatly draws all four in a combat stance when Windu arrives, seeing him as an immediate threat
Idk wat Lucas was thinking when he made grevious a joke. It seems during the prequel era George just made watever idea and stuck to it without second thinking if it's actually a good idea
