I personally would love seeing extended editions of the Star War movies, particularly 2, 3, and 4. There's a lot of great stuff that we lost for run time.
fun fact: there is in fact a final deleted scene not many are aware of but there is a sequence from attack of the clones where Dooku was supposed to use two lightsabers to defend himself against yoda in the duel. The best part is that the scene made it into the comic, there is a promo image of him with the lightsabers, the action figure came with two lightsabers as well and there is also bts footage of sir christopher lee doing choreogaphy for the scene that was eventually cut.
4:25 “I almost got blown up and the government is being torn in half!” “Well, it’s late. I’m tired. If you survive the night, I say we put a pin in that for later.”
6:01 There are edits of Attack of the Clones that do that. I saw one that moves “we will destroy the Sith” over the Death Star hologram reveal, to imply they’re going to blow up Coruscant with Sidious on it
The Army Senate debate, Dooku backstory and Nightmare on the ship scenes really should have been in the movie. Maybe the one where Padme and Anakin speak with Dooku too. They add so much background and character. But no, we needed to see Padme eat a CGI pear instead.
idk i think the romance is an important part to anakins journey to the dark side and the fall of the jedi. It shows one of the biggest failings of the jedi on a personal level
The romance was absolutely necessary but it was horribly executed. Anakin’s love for Padmé was instrumental in the tragedy that is his fall, and his relationship with her needs to be given plenty of focus because it’s that relationship which resulted in Luke and Leia, which resulted in Darth Vader’s redemption. The romance needed to be fixed, not removed. Stuff like the diner scene in AOTC are what could have been removed.
Even George agrees. He said multiple times in interviews how he hates the timelimits Hollywood films often have. Which is exactly why people love the Clone Wars. The Clone Wars characterisations of the characters are exactly the same to what the characters are in the deleted scenes. It also showed us so many things George wanted to show us with the prequels. But the reason the Clone Wars worked so well was exactly because of the this reason: it had time to do so... You can even often hear in the commentary George and the others have on the good deleted scenes that they got deleted because of time. "The scene does the same thing but faster.", "It slowed down the movie too much" etc.
I would even argue that the Book Of Boba Fett needed more time. A lot of issues people have with it (aside form things related to Boba Fett as a character, which I think is just people forgetting his characterisation in The Clone Wars and Attack Of The Clones, or just not understanding his character) could've been easily fixed is the show took more time. But instead LucasFilm and Disney kinda just treated it like a timekiller for people waiting for Mando S3
Their issue was they wasted time. AOTC could have gotten rid of the diner scene and shortened the droid plant scene, that would have given the movie time to include the actual important, emotional, or political scenes.
I do have to wonder, why were these scenes cut? Most of them, anyways - when combined with the rest of the movie, they make for a solid experience which distracts from the blatant shortcomings in the romantic areas
Time Restrictions, and I guess George included the romance scenes instead of this because he thought it was more important to the story of Anakin's fall, which is a shame because these scenes are great at world building.
There are a few scenes like the trial scene with Poggle and the ramp scene and even the decoding scene that didn't need to be in the movie, but most of them were amazing. More Christopher Lee is always a win!
I kinda wish we had the scenes with Padme’s family, it added a more relative feeling to the galaxy by adding a normal family. I’d like to have a show that starts out with at least an episode showing the normal life of a person in the galaxy.
I just want too know why Padme has the power to decide what side Naboo takes in the war. Shouldn't it be the Queen, and what ever Naboo congress is call decision
@@whatsup2318 I suppose Padme would be a highly influential figure. The Naboo Senator would be an advisor to the Naboo monarch (we saw that in TPM). Furthermore, given she was formerly Queen and well regarded, could probably potentially sway public opinion of the planet. You are right though, theoretically Padme alone could not make that call. Though we see many of these figures speaking on behalf of entire planets/systems as if they own them! Also, on a separate note, if you watch the Senate scene in TPM, you can see that ET's people are also not happy with the corruption and vote for the Motion of No Confidence.
The beskar doesn't include a gorget to protect against exactly that sort of precise strike. the complaint was based on a mistaken perception of how armor works (there has to be some covering that spot)
With most deleted scenes you watch them, think "this is cool, but I can sort of see why they were cut, the film is no worse off for it," yet when I watch these deleted scenes (and to a lesser extent the seeds of rebellion scenes in Revenge of the Sith) I can’t help but think that the film would have been so much better if they had included some of these. I have literally just rewatched Attack of the Clones for the first time in many years, and the love story we get is still really bad. But the scenes with Padme's family would have redeemed it a bit. Those scenes actually plant seeds that Padme might reciprocate Anakin's feelings to set up the first kiss, which seems to come from nowhere in actual film.
All the best Anakin and Padme scenes are the ones where they are literally just telling each other about their lives. We got a bit of that in the cropped Theed sequence in the final film, and some others, but we should've gotten that subplot at the parents' house. It would've made seeing them in ROTS more tragic
That scene was never in any version of any Star Ware EP 2 release lol, I watched it in Theaters too and I do not remember that scene at all, I only saw that scene like 8 years later when I was watching Star Wars deleted scenes on RU-vid, I’m not calling you a liar I just think you might be confusing your memories, perhaps you saw the deleted scene and remember it like it was in the movie, idk the mind is weird bro, but I can know for a fact that Scene has never been officially apart of the movie, it’s always been in the Deleted scenes portion.
@@12zack1 I watched it on a disc, still have the disc so I just watched it again to confirm it is included, and many many other clips are also included, that's why I was surprised to see these clips in this video in the first place, the family visit was my favourite scene.
I honestly wish they kept most of these scenes - especially the ones on Naboo. They flesh out Anakin and Padme's relationship a little more as we see them interact with others. Also as a kid, the whole army vote plot was kind of confusing so that scene in the senate would have helped me understand a lot better 🙏
I love these deleted scenes too. There are many that I am glad we're cut bc idk if that chase should've been longer honestly. But yes, loving that history and worldbuilding.
Jango Fett didn't actually have Beskar armor, he as well as his son used an alloy that might have contained some Beskar but the amount wouldn't have been enough to negate a lightsabers blade. Also Macey Boy cuts him at places where the armor doesn't even protect, the wrist and the neck.
Anakin’s nightmares about his mother start before he and Obi Wan even reach coruscant. Anakin says he doesn’t sleep much in their opening scene and Obi Wan already knows to ask “because of your mother?”
I wish these scenes actually got included in the movies. It might not be necessary, but it makes them more personable and humanlike. I feel they're needed
A lot of these are still in the novle. The only thing is that in the movie the librarian doesn't get into the whole thing about how no one could match Dooku at least in the old way of dueling. Ah the 1 about the photos in Padme's room that's new too. That 1 I don't remember being in the novle.
I feel like these deleted scenes offer a lot of important context (and stuff for Padme to do). It'd be better if they were restored to the films. Well, maybe not all of them.
Jango fetts armor is mostly durasteel not beskar meaning it’s blaster proof but a lightsaber can still very much cut through it and even if it was 100% beskar it would still go down how it did since mace aimed for where the armor was the weakest the joints where it’s mostly cloth like where the neck is
The bedroomscene is a scene George really wanted to keep in because it was essential to Padmés character and the bond between Padme and Anakin. But the other people he worked with adviced to cut it.
I believe there was a story where Dooku only joined Palpatine to take him down and stop his plan. Palpatine found out and Thats why he told Anakin to do it at the beginning of Ep.3
@@tikvision Lightsaber resistant Mandalorian iron existed in the extended universe since the mid 90s. It wasn't called beskar until a few years after Ep 2 was released, but it definitely existed.
The scene with padme in the senate was right after Zam Wessel death (the jedi council scene is completely reused from tpm except for windu, yoda, anakin and obiwan and its reshoot). Right after the senate scene we would get padme complaining to anakin about palpatine sending her to safety implying that palpatine did it to keep her away from the army voting. She also had the same hairstyle in both of these scenes.
The original extended death scene of Jango Fett would have been accurate at the time. It was supposedly composed a durasteel alloy in the legends continuity till it was retconed to be beskar recently, well after the conclusion of the prequel trilogy.
Tbh, the scenes from 5:15 till 7:39 should have stayed....I feel like a small background talk about Dooku would give us better idea who he is and the scene with Anakin having nightmare is perfect way to tell us how Anakin feels and then on Naboo him and Padme talking about why she chose to be senator and Anakin actually giving her normal compliments is pretty nice scene (WITHOUT ANAKIN CREEPY STARE)
Curse that flag, if only there was some ... Force ... Obiwan could have telekinetically lifted it off with instead of clambering over the front of the skycar. That silly chase scene always baffled me as to why one of them didn't just stop the bounty hunters skycar with the force or something, ripping ships from the sky? Yup! Skycar? Nope.
Interesting how Padme didn't want to join the Separatists, but during the Clone Wars, she went with Ahsoka to see her friend Mina Bonteri to try to negotiate with the Separatists.
Some of the BEST Star wars Novels I have read where the six book series about young Boba Fett and what he did before and after his father died. These where before disney, which made them even better and I consider them Cannon :D
Why on earth would jedi who leave the order get busts! Didn’t plenty who left the order become gray or dark jedi, and even turn to the dark side? I don’t really see why they would celebrate them for that:/
Pretty sure that the beskar in Jango's armor was beskar alloy instead of pure beskar as in tcw many of those Mandalorian die to a single shot and get cut by lightsabers easily which makes it seem like they used alloy, and Boba Fett (In legends) didn't get pure beskar armor until much later in his life suggesting that his father's armor wasn't pure beskar, which would mean that the lore friendly version is NOT LORE FRIENDLY.
Anakin has been flying seen before he could walk. Life as a slave must be pretty good in Tatooine since most adults in third world don't know how to drive.
The extended cut is really cool, I always thought that Jango could last a little bit longer; though I don’t think the stab hitting Jango’s leg makes scene. If that stab connected Jango would have went down right there, yet he continues to walk back. If you can see he moves his hips a little before mace goes for the stab. like he is dodging it. You can also see in the cut with no cgi that jango uses his gauntlets to seemingly deflect the saber, just before windu goes for the final blow. So I think jango managed to not get stabbed and deflects the saber away then mace goes for the final blow. Jango was on the defense but mace attacking him quick like that, plus the fact his jet pack was damaged was his downfall.
Wait he could have cut the arm off because the armour is platting on top of a suit the suit can’t be made of Beskar unless he has a beskar mail tunic underneath which would be extremely impractical and we already know he doesn’t because in the same scene his side is sliced and if you were wearing mail you would surely have a hood that would provide protection to the neck
Back when GL had endless resources and endless imagination that could be crafted no matter what, I guess they just filmed EVERYTHING. That way, no matter what, editing would never be an issue. In other words, there would never be a shortage of transitions. Only exceptions would be when someone was in the WRONG COSTUME (like with Padme's situation).
I swear to God that I remember 7:01 very clearly, the suitcases, r2d2 going up the stairs all of it maybe it was because I watched it on al old VHS tape when I was a kid but I swear I remember it
