Such a down to earth guy. Just very likable, humble, and friendly.

The voice reading the questions is so wonderfully uncommitted to what being asked it makes the whole thing hilarious.

Writing things you’ve learned during a day into a notepad is actually a genius idea

While I don't do that, I do talk out what I've learned to myself frequently, it especially helps if I'm restless at night

Yeah, a journal really helps with writing and other stuff even if you are not confident it is good stuff, helps with ideas later on

1:50 Was he thinking about all 3 movies before making the first one?? That's outrageous! That's unfair!
@solusquatro3448

I'm pretty sure he'd a rough idea of what all the 9 movies would've been before making the first one
@pauldavis5665
@pauldavis5665 2 года назад
When writing a trilogy you should be thinking about where all 3 movies are going, not just do them individually. That was one of the problems with the sequel trilogy, each one was written individually without any real thought about where the trilogy as a whole was going so it made it seem disjointed without any cohesiveness. A good trilogy should really feel like one long movie separated into three parts and that can only be done well if the plan for the entire trilogy is laid out right from the start.

@@pauldavis5665 Yeah, for me that was the issue with the series, Lost. It seemed to be headed somewhere then meandered around. It is even more essential with something like star wars to know because it has so much built up lore to consider and integrate.

People waited longer for the prequels than for the Avatar sequels. I haven’t much faith in James Cameron with that much time on his hands.

i thought the exact same thing when he said that. he really should have let someone else direct episodes 2 and 3.

Lucas wrote very good screenplays but, by his own admission, couldn’t write good dialogue. The prequels would probably have been far better if he’d gotten others to take over the script and directing.
@andrewomahony9260
@andrewomahony9260 10 месяцев назад
The prequels don't really feel cohesive, but rather a collection of scenes. I don't really have any issue with that, but it does make them look clunkier than they actually were.

He did have some collaborators, and he asked many people to collaborate who turned him down. Jonathan Hales co-wrote Attack of the Clones.

funny cuz he couldn't write. ironic he could hire others to write... but he wrote it himself. (; (episode 3 joke)

I get the joke but really he could write. He just couldn't, or didn't want to, edit.
@ThePatrickFamilyBand

Exactly. He conceived incredible, if not eerily prophetic, plots and characters, e.g. banking cartel helps fund construction of Death Star in backdoor deal with Chancellor who helps centralize all Senatorial power to secure his upper hand on demolishing the Galactic Republic and creating the Empire. But his editing? Yeah, a little raw haha

He wrote the story for all six real star wars films. The Disney fanfiction is terrible without his involvement. He never would have ruined and killed Luke the way Johnson did.
