@@MrUlaris he's manipulative so even tho he may be telling the truth, it is probably to better control and create an order similar to the sith empire before the rule of 2 on a smaller scale.
@@jakereis1491 Possibly but as we saw with Master Sora Bulq only certain Jedi can use Vaapaad and stay in the light. I don't know if it would be wise to teach all Jedi the form. At the same time I think that the Jedi Order should be more like the ancient Je'daii order and maintain a balance between light and dark. Strictly adhering to any one side of the force is dangerous. I think Malicos is right. Cal could have had a strong alliance with him if Malicos hadn't gone insane.
When he says "Leave you? Alone? Lost and defenseless in this dangerous place? Never" I actually felt it. Sure he had his motives but he also genuinely wanted to embrace Cal as his apprentice like a little brother I think. You could hear pain in his voice.
honestly with this guy I feel like some player choice would be welcome. I honestly went to dathomir first because I wanted to get some dark side abilities and I didn't see this guy as a bad person. I think it would be cool if you has two options for this planets final boss. option one: you see interest in gaining power and trust malicros but then merrin would get pissed off and would "deal with this jedi scribe, herself!" afterwords malicos would join the team. cannon option: go through the route that the actual game takes you on where merrin kills your buddy in a super disturbing way and then joins the group and you start to feel like you can't trust her too well but you also think she looks pretty cute without a hood on and then you start to look through the comics to see if necromancy is a real thing in-
Cal fails to see that in a planet of darkness and violence like Dathomir there's going to be some damage to the sanity and purity of even the strongest Jedi. I even thought Malicos could've ended up an ally had he not been so blinded and deceived by the dark side.
@@dragonkight64dragonslayer62 If I were Cal, I'd join him. Though then it would take him dying, or being severely injured for me to fall to the Dark Side.
Taron Malicos probably lost his sanity being strandard on Dathomir for so long. Thought he was gonna he be a Grey Jedi like Ahsoka , but I guess he is similar to Darth Maul being an outcast and he seeks to build a new order between the Jedi and Sith to fight the Empire?
John Cena It’s not so black & white. The Jedi code is dogmatic and it’s playing safe not giving into your deeper and dark impulses since it leads to the dark side but I always felt like their so restrictive and self imposing , they rather make you an emotionless servant of the light then training their students on how to suppress their emotions . The Dark side is as we know it, the opposite and embracing those negative feelings and converting em into your strength & raw power , it’s the much easier to embrace your feelings and unleash em altogether then it is resisting control over em. For me,personally , I choose the Light side always. The Sith has a long bloody history of betrayal , lusting for power, stepping and preying on the weak and defenseless , if it wasn’t for Darth Bane who tore down the weak fundamentals of the Sith teachings and revamped em , the Sith would’ve been stuck in their old ways. The Jedi was, they didn’t evolve past their old teachings thus falling. If you want more in depth of the force, philosophies of the Light & Dark side, there are always the KOTOR 1 & 2 games. KOTOR2 is a deconstruction of the SW mythology and answers what long -standing questions any SW fan has. The balance of the force have always been the accountability on both the Light and Dark sides, throughout SW history, both the Jedi and Sith faced near extinction.
John Cena Ehh, your point is? Everybody knows the whole story thread of 1-6. SW doesn’t just revolve around the movies. Those SW games are cannon to Legends and they were legendary . Several force users like Darth Revan, Starkiller, Kriea ,etc were able to cross both lines of the Light & Dark side. Also, it’s way better then the Sequel trilogy we been forced fed.
Man, at least once, I wana see someone fall to the dark side out of logic. I mean, that's how it happened for Revan. And at least Malicos here is at least occasionally making sense. "Look past your own soul's wellbeing. You are willing to let hundreds of millions suffer, just so you can claim a clean conscience? Such arrogance."
Oh that quote is amazing. Nice choice. Never heard it before. I think Malicos had some weak writing, but he did feel like a charscter from an old Lucasarts game. I can't help but be drawn to him. And yes, I love how Revan turned to the Dark Side out of logic.
@@LeftytheGansterGremlin I made that quote up, actually. It's the sort of thing I WISH would be in a SW game. (to be fair, the sentiment is adapted from the last few episodes of Avatar the Last Airbender).
@@spehizle Oh shit dude. That's nice! You know what? Play the original KoToR games. Especially 2. Because it tackles themes like your quote about the Jedi all the time.
@@LeftytheGansterGremlin I played KOTOR 1, and tried to do a Dark Side playthrough, but it was just cartoonishly evil. I've heard KOTOR 2 is better for DS playthroughs, and you've given me an excuse to finally go get it.
@@spehizle Trust me dude. The game has such good writing, it really puts these new canon materials to shame imo. It breaks down our conceptions of the Jedi and Sith, and shows how even the smallest of deeds can create a chain of events that affect individual's lives. It's baxically WAAAAY better than the last Jedi. And if you're struggling to appreciate it? Simply look up "The Philosophy on Kreia" By a channel with Legit no name. He breaks down the greatest character written in Star Wars.
Reminds me a little of when Maul met Ezra on Malachor and Yoda's first meeting with Luke, Malicos is acting all mysterious and a little frail, but in reality is very powerful.
@Dovah kid Interesting, I've never read King Arthur, I know it definitely influenced all fantasy stories after it especially in the west. I know the basic stuff like Anduril/Narsil from Lord of the Rings and of course Anakin's Lightsaber were analogues of the sword in the stone and of course Gandalf and Obi Wan being analogues of Merlin.
Shes talking about general grievous when she said a armored attacker killed her sisters Edit:1.6k.. i guess people have theories about my comment Edit 2: 4.5K Well That’s Pretty cool
@@MrSamsicbing That can't be though. The Nightsisters were exterminated DURING the Clone Wars, not after. Plus, in the TCW cartoon, we see their slaughter on-screen, no less at Grievous's hands.
I don't know why everyone wants a dark side path in this game. This is a CANON game, this is about Cal kestis and his story, i have no problem whatsoever with playing the game how the developers intended
Props to Cal, even though he would have eventually lost without Merrin's help, he's done well for a padawan who stopped his training halfway through. Putting up such a valiant fight against a former jedi MASTER who learned the dark side of the force and nightsister magick secrets is pretty impressive.
Taron Malicos and Luke Skywalker went to the same conclusion about the Jedi Order. Yet the difference is that Taron tried to have more power by being an asshole, were Luke decided to retreat as an hermit because he was afraid that he would make things worse and harm the one he loved.
@@joshuaallen4101 Idk, I liked the force awakens it had its problems but the last jedi killed everything it set up. I honestly imagined Luke having a Jedi academy like in legends or him battaling yuzhan vong or imperial remennants like jedi academy. But maybe i will
So much wasted potential for these characters. Malicos could've deadass become this Disney Canon's Darth Krayt and Cal as their version of Cade Skywalker...
Kind of a shame what happened to Taron, he was betrayed through Order 66 and stranded on a hostile world that also had strong dark side influence. Couple that with how he must have been feeling post Order 66 with his struggle for survival and I'm not surprised he embraced the dark side.
Well to be fair, the witches of Dothomir were her only family so of course she'd see them as good people. The last thing she remembers is them being hacked to bits by Grievous (while laughing) and his Droids slaughtering her sisters as they tried to protect the sanctuary.
I see a lot of people commenting that a dark side version would be cool and I agree. You could join Malicos before the fight, and you would both have to fight Merrin instead as a boss. And then the plot would change so that Malicos and Cal want the Holocron to start their new order, imprisoning your friends so you could do it. Then the end mission would be the same, except you would attack Second Sister out of rage and hatred for Prauf and the Order.
9:04 He's very right., the Jedi were playing the old game of hit sticks together. And while Palatine distracted them with war, he eroded the Republic's values from underneath them. They lost before they even started.
Fulcrum 67 More like lamer. Exists for all of 15 minutes, gets his ass kicked, then dies. Least Jorus actually had the respect of Anakin. And his clone Jedi army idea was genius.
@@JXZX1 Now I wonder who really had that idea first? Since in Force Unleashed 2, Vader was planning to Clone Starkiller, and he used tons of clones of him to kill the Rebel Starkiller on Kamino.
True, Tarons damage is too little and he literally never parries. Im on Jedi Master and 1 hit was almost half of my hp bar and whenever i tried to attack Malicos he would parry instantly.
on grandmaster this fight almost broke me,everything before was kinda easy so i only had 4 stims didnt care to get more, and i was too stuborn to quit and come back... took me 7 hours and one hurt hand.
I don't really understand why she thought Grievous was a Jedi. The nightsisters knew of the Separatists and the Sith. Even if she was a child she should know who destroyed their village.
@Ch Pe I did consider that but it really doesn't hold up once you think about it. He was surrounded by separatist droids with separatist markings on them and was a infamous separatist leader. They weren't directly involved in the clone wars but they help fund the sith with warriors (at least 3) so they should have an understanding of what is going on.
Its pretty amazing that Taron Malicos is voiced by non other than Liam Mcintyre who played Spartacus in season 2-3. And on that show he fought with 1 sword in each hand. What a great homage to a powerful character.
Love the subtlety in the script. When Cal first asks who he is he says “you don’t... no one to fear”. A nice hint towards Taron being a Jedi and also his arrogance of thinking Cal should know him.
I had to turn off my ps4 and come back to it later that night just because this guy beat me so many times. Felt good to be on the verge of throwing a controller again, just like my younger days lol
Why are people always moaning about grey jedi? Neutral force users are a rarity for a reason, only a few exception were able to get in this state after a loong process during which the person in question often go from side to side until he/she stabilize. The rest? They will fall deep in the dark side since it will tempt them constantly to use it more and more.
Easter Egg. Notice how Spartacus uses two swords. Taron does as well. Notice how Spartacus has scars from whips in the same areas as Taron does. Taron also speaks how Spartacus would.
Why do when Jedi turn the Dark Side, they automatically seek out ‘red’ lightsaber crystals - even if cut off from the rest of the galaxy’s civilization?
They don’t seek out crystals anymore. In canon they make their crystals change color based on their aura in the force. But a red crystal is when someone takes a Jedi crystal and makes it feel pain, and does what they call “bleeding” it. Until it turns a crimson red.
MrFuggleGuggle most lightsabers crystals came from Ilum, but mace windu’s came from a different planet where they’re purple instead of the regular colours
Vikrampic Loenally yeah but dark side users and sith all they talk about is their everlasting quest for power and more. It’s sort of their whole reason for doing what they’re doing.
Honestly in terms of sheer strength Malicos felt like the true villain to me he was way harder then both then both the sisters and it showed as you even need help from Merrin to beat him.
Malicos was a great take on Dark Jedi in the sense that he truly believed he conquered the dark side. He never used Dark Side attacks during the fight like choke or lightning. Besides his Lightsabers and savage ways he still believed he was a Jedi.
i played it all on jedi master, and damn was it intense, sure i died 20 times to this dude. but hey i learned all his moveset , beating this dude again would be cakewalk now.
Fun fact for any of your Spartacus fans out there. The voice actor and model for Taron Malicos is Liam McIntyre (Spartacus himself) from the second season onward!
Well, just like anakin, he was right to not like the jedi. Its just that all of their other faults make them loose any credibility, even though they were right.
Fun note, the voice actor for Taron Malicos is Liam McIntyre. Acting-wise he's most known for taking over the role of Spartacus for the 2nd and 3rd season of the show and playing Weather Wizard on The Flash, BUT voiceover-wise he also played Commander Pyre on Star Wars: Resistance on Disney +.
