+Bethan Chalmers She does talk over him a bit, but then he was a young unknown actor and this was live TV, so she had to be a bit pushy to keep conversation moving if he looked like he might be stalling. Not an easy job to get right :)

Wow, his car accident was in January of '77, and I imagine this segment was filmed at the end of May after the release or just into June. So, he's much closer to being the A New Hope Mark Hamill but with the Empire features - the accident changed the character of his nose and lip. He must have had moments of severe depression when it happened, wondering if his career was over. Well, 40 years later, he's still entertaining us.

No this would have been around Christmas time. Star Wars didn't premiere in London until 27 December, and if I remember correctly wasnt widely released in the UK til about February 1978

wow... Mark has got to be one of my most favourite people. wow. he's such a kind dude and really adorable. i love the way he describes star wars as a fairy tale. im a massive star wars fan so... i am a bit bias haha. but honestly, he's very sweet even now. Definetly on my bucket list to meet him.

There's something uncanny about watching Mark be himself with his pre-car-accident face. How adorable is it that he watched Blue Peter while they were in England filming? And he's still a kid at heart. Gotta love it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but could anyone tell me why he never acted (as far as I know)in any major films after Star Wars?. He comes across as a genuinely nice person, so I don't think he was black listed by the film industry. He's obviously loves acting and had always wanted to be an actor, so I don't think It was b/c of personal choice and, in my opinion, he wasn't a bad actor. I don't get it.

He became a voice actor, he did a lot of guest voices and of course played the joker in the animated series and the arkham games

Amazing to think Harrison Ford was relatively unknown then and that Alec Guiness and Peter Cushing were far more famous. Also the media folk had obviously decided the best way to explain star wars to kids was with a fairy tale analogy - i guess they thought people might think it was a war film.
