I was one of the designers of the original Action Fleet line at Galoob, and what is interesting is that the new Micro Galaxy X-Wing continued a weird company imposed safety feature that they didn’t need to. It’s almost like it was a nod to the original Action Fleet line - or perhaps they just didn’t know any better. If your look at the rear engines you will notice that the lower two engines are shorter. This was to prevent the ship from sitting nose up so that someone could not fall on it and impale themselves. Certainly not likely, but this is why it was designed that way. These are the only two X-wings I’ve seen designed like this.
Wow you guys did an amazing job! Right now I am collecting the action fleet figures, and they're so much fun to pose around! Also kinda genius they way you did the articulation in the figures, with the arms and legs connected and they pivoting inside a two- halves body. They're fantastic! Do you have any more stories to tell about them?
Such a great insight! I've wondered for years why Galoob would do this, since the engines weren't that way in both the movies and the Kenner Micro-Collection X-Wing (with the exploding battle damage effect). Nice to know the thinking behind it and thanks for sharing! The design was extended to the small bendy miniature spaceships from Galoob as well, weirdly, and again when Hasbro relaunched the small bendy ships in blind bags when the Force Awakens opened. Anyhow, great work on the Action Fleet! That was a superb toy line and I'm so happy I've managed to keep all those ships over the years.
Thank you for all the amazing play time I had as a kid with Action Fleet :) They were my favorite toys, I always admired all the details on the ships and sizing was juuuust right for play. Can I ask, what was the reason for the 2 different sizes in Darth Vaders Tie Fighter? The original run was bigger, my friend had one of the first runs. Later when I bought it, I noticed mine was significantly smaller! I was so jealous of his slightly bigger Darth Vader Tie Fighter lol
I clicked on the video because I saw familar looking and who knew that I own a action fleet toy from the 90 thought it was from the 2000s and it was nice to see it complette , mine is missing the guns, the figuers and the coopet glass.

Came across your site and videos by random chance. Love the content. Probably binged loads already of the micro machines playset vids. Got me back into collecting again.
I'm kinda torn on the x-wing specifically. The mechanics of on action fleet like the wing opening mechanism was better, but the proportions and details on the micro galaxy x wing are great. Fingers crossed they make an outrider in micro-galaxy. Action Fleet released that goofy Prince Xizor ship from Shadows of the Empire but not the iconic hero ship from the same game.
it's disappointing that a lot of the characters who have never been made at micro scale are super limited chase variants. still, i really love this line and i hope it's a massive success
The "chase" stuff really pisses me off. As if it's not hard enough to find stuff these days and pay a king size ransom from scalpers, These idiots make it even more of a scalper product by telling everyone, Hey buy me and put me on Ebay, I might be worth something.
@@jasonweiss7757 hour right! I work at Walmart, and a customer "scalper" a actually accused me of hiding products, and cursed me out (Hot Whheels Premium diecast) just because he got only 2 from a box (only 2 come in a box). But I'm sure he would have taken every single one that I put out! They have ZERO SCRUPLES
That Jedi Luke chase is awesome! Why can’t they just let us buy that one? The thrill of the chase is fun, but they do us so dirty with the best ones as chases. That said, I still think this is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing Dan-O! I’m a big fan of your channel.
Yeah I get the chase aspect but i I too would rather just be able to buy the different paint jobs and figures. It does add to the collectibility though. Meaning these toys will have a better chance at holding some value over time.
Great review! I am thrilled with this line, I love the Jedi Starfighter and looking forward to the upcoming Republic Gunship. I hope Jazwares gives us more ships like a Y-wing, Tie Interceptor and maybe even a Tie Bomber.
It's pretty cool, and the figures look alright, but I do wish there were bigger focus on the figures. That's what I mostly like after all, action figures, and tiny action figures are just so right up my alley. Get a few of them in a multipack, with better paint apps, and cool character selection and I'm in. Also, something kinda funny: I'm collecting the Galoob action fleet figures and there's only ONE Luke with his lightsaber. The rest are different poses. It's a bit weird but also kinda funny.
Hopefully at one point we'll see different variations of x wings that are not chase variations. Maybe in a later wave some more additions to an x wing model could be added to the collection. Just like the battle damaged TIE fighter.
Just picked up the X wing yesterday. I saw it a couple days ago. And last night a checked if it was still there. I couldn't find it so I started looking behind boxes and some one had tried to hide it.
The Action Fleet may be larger but the Micro is more accurate as far as the silhouette. It’ll scale better to the Razor Crest and Falcon also. Action Fleet version of the Falcon was way under scaled.
It looks like Jazwares is doing the OG generation that played with Action Fleet toys proud. I remember I use to play with that Yavin IV playset all the time. It eventually became a base for my Gundam toys.
found the outland tie fighter today at target, first one that i grabbed , i had the chase luke x-wing from the mando show last week, should have grabbed it, kicking myself now
as someone with virtually all the old action fleet, i figure i will have to get the new unique ships but not the duplicates. Thanks for the comparison of the two sizes. Congrats on you successful channel.
Well, Squdrons Millenium Falcon is actually a big step up compared to AF one, I'm still considering to get one (And I already have like 3 MM Falcons, 2 AF and one Mission Fleet xD)
I've added a few of these to my collection now, sooooo hoping that they will release an Imperial Shuttle in this range as definitely one of my favourite ships 🙏 Great reviews, Thank you 👍
They specifically say it’s a vehicle first toy line. So the focus is the vehicles. And they call the figures “micro figure accessories” so I don’t think it’s likely we’ll see that right away but maybe a few phases in to the toy line if the decide to diversify. But only if it sells well.
I missed so much my old X-wing 3,75 version from 1979.... I think that this series gonna be more popular for collector because of the proportion ratio between figures vs ships.
I also prefer the old landing gear, but the black wash brings out a lot of nice details. I'll probably give the droid a little wash and paint some details on the pilot.
That looks good, having owned a busted Action Fleet X-Wing for *years* makes this one very tempting. The smaller size is nice too since it takes less shelf space ONLY bad point for it is that it doesn't come with a stand like the Action Fleet line did, so you need to find other ways to have them displayed mid-flight
I wish I had known that there were “chase” vehicles before I started or I never would’ve bothered with this line. Sucks to have to pay secondary prices for the Mandolorian ones I wanted.
Great vehicle, but I prefer the Action Fleet version. The Galoob Action Fleet landing gear looks better, and it’s a shame there isn’t much paint on the Micro Galaxy Squadron figures. I wonder if Jazwares will release the X-Wing as Red 2 etc like Action did with its Squadron recolours. We need playsets like Action Fleet as well.
I've only found out about this range today. Only the other day I found my old action fleet stuff in the roof, might go through it now and see what I can costom
Action fleet was great because every vehicule was the same price maybe not in the same scale but if you have the at at you can use the micro machine snowspeeder they fited well together !!! Now the micro galaxy gonna have to be huge and cost a lot of money to be in scale with the future snowspeeder !!!
That landing gear is really weird but I appreciate they tried something different. Also, too bad the paint job on the minifig is not that great. These are fine IMO but could be better. Those stormtroopers though....geez, who greenlighted those?
Looking really great! I don’t mind too much that the figures lack paint since the paint detail clearly went toward the vehicles and looks really awesome. The Jedi Luke would be my preferred of the two, but since it’s a chase, I’ll just be happy with the x-wing itself regardless.

Really disappointed these didn't come with a stand like the Action Fleet did. The Star Wars logo in prismatic finish, silver or gold, made the whole package; perfect for desktop display. If they were going for 1/96 scale consistently that would have been nice. Apparently not. The Millennium Falcon looks too weird with an enlarged cockpit that is designed to fit four figures. If the vehicles are to be more or less 1/96 scale, then the figures are too big (or the vehicles too small). The figures are more or less 1/72 scale. Going by the Han Solo figure at about 1 inch, if we assume Han to be about 6 ft in real life, that translates to 1 inch in 1/72 scale, which is where the figure measures. A few vehicles like Ventress' Ginivex do have a clear stand. Unfortunately it is not designed to allow full deployment of the ship's solar wings. I'm mixed on this release. The new vehicles are a welcome addition. But the lack of stands is perplexing. The cost is the same for slightly smaller vehicles with mostly no stands included. The new tie fighter looks much more accurate with slender solar panels than the beefier AF version. I wish they would stop already with the exclusives... No one needs to pay $500+ for a miniscule white plastic tie fighter. Just ridiculous. I think I'll be returning my mini-hoard. Also, the x-wing looks terrible with the over-sized wing cannons. I know, any smaller and they would beak off and possibly be ingested. Might be better off to build a Bandai kit for the money.
I have the X Wing coming This week then the Razor crest and the Falcon coming august 3rd. Can’t wait. Would love to get the x wing chase. Seen 2 so far on eBay for almost $200! 😒
Love these ships but I hate the chase bs I think it's a bad move by jazware and is only making it a scalpers dream...I'm hoping jazware corrects this mistakes as it's really a slap in the face of fans and collectors.
mine were coming in now. but, i had to cancel them cause i was not ready for them. cause i was expecting them to come in aug.3rd. so, i had to cancel mine.
not all action fleet is bigger, atleast so I am told, never collected them myself, cause ation fleet does not hold actual scale, so the bigger MGS ships do go bigger than their actionfleet counter parts. I am really hoping they come sooner to the EU ( NL esp ) than the september date on my store site
@@Dan-O ye, correct, the starfighter class is smaller, I believe everything up from transport class should be bigger, so with the falcon that would be sizeable... we will see though! it's a fun new journey to go on
For me - thumbs horizontally. I love the fact that we have a new SW line, the packaging is awesome, the hype is great, and the line seems to have a great selection of ships, ...but c'mon it's 2022, how come we got worse details and colors than back in 95'? And this landing gear is awful I really hate ship color, it's so off. As for weathering - it's really nice, but basic ship color is so of from the original, all I see is just white X-wing :( But I will probably buy this X-wing, as I have all of them and cannot let this one slip.
Another great video. I think these are going to be hit or miss. The X-Wing is a miss. I understand that the vehicle is the star and the figures are simply accessories but they are the base for the scale of the line since they are constant. With that being said, this X-Wing is horribly under scaled. People just don’t realize how big an x-wing is. If you take a look at a studio scale model and you will see the pilot and R2 unit are dwarfed by its size. The vehicle paint apps look great but they are really cheaping out on the figure paint apps. Come on, it can be better. Also, those landing gear are horrible.
The problem with this release is, that after you open and close the s-foils for the first time, there remains a gap between both wings that can't be closed or adjusted anymore. It should not be there. The wings should lie completely on top of each other. Weak design...
Yeah sellers on Ebay are just banking on peoples impatience. These should barely be hitting stores nationwide this week and it's not even guaranteed they'll be out yet. Both Wal-mart and Target stores are due for resets of their aisle configurations in the next two weeks or so, which means they don't even have a proper place to put these yet.
Yes. I was lucky to buy the Millennium Falcon in Target yesterday on Monday. I happened to stroll over to see what they got in the toy section and load and behold!!! 4 Millennium falcon boxes of jazwares!!
Yeah the artwork is a huge part of the experience of collecting. A lot of love and thought went into that packaging and most people don’t appreciate that somebody spent hours designing it. Usually they just open it and throw it away and goo “ooh new toy”. It’s nice to appreciate things and the work that goes into them.
